  • Nobody even questions why Gloria Estevan suddenly shows up, no one even acts remotely surprised to see her, they automatically start a block party, the song ends, and it was like she was never even there! :D

  • Dancing in a conga line with Gloria Estefan... Louis and Maria are living one of my ultimate fantasies :)

  • couldnt u imajin a parasaurolofus doing that dance?

  • Those gold shorts have been in my head for so many years.

  • She came in at such a random time!

  • It's like what they said in the first ep of FLCL, "Nothing ever happens here. Just an ordinary day...' Then Goria shows up, starts a bock party, she goes away, and once again, "Nothing ever happens here....just an ordinary day.." :)

  • @colleen4ever Would you mind explaining what FLCL stands for? I looked it up and got mostly some short lived anime show from around 2000. The theme as the scene does seem fimiliar though.

  • @9ansean FLCL is short for Fooly Cooly. It was a hilarious 6 episode anime parody that aired on Adult Swim. It was totally crazy and made no frickin sense, but that was the point! The point was that you can look at it and spot all the anime pariodies.

The opening lines of Fooly Cooly, "Nothing ever happens here. Just an ordinary day." Then the first ep happens where a weird alien girl lands with her motorbike...crazy starts happening, and the line is said at the end, "Just an ordinary day."

  • @colleen4ever Ah, than the first connection I saw was the right one! I wasn't sure since this show clearly didn't last long. Thanks for the feedback, although I think this plot transition from a) ordinary day to b) someting wild happening to c) ordinary day may go back at least as far as Dr. Seuss. It's a little bit spooky, but still fun. Again, thanks for clearing that up

  • @9ansean No, it was only 6 eps, but it was a hilarious parody of anime. You should check it out.

You're welcome, glad I could help.

  • I love gloria estefan I met her at the bookends store in ridgewood nj

what ever happend to her I have not seen her

  • I love how they just go about their business once it's over! lol And the Muppet conga line was priceless! :)

  • 1:20 Hey! Look! It's Roxy Marie! I'd almost forgotten about her. I can't find any videos or pictures of her anywhere. She was always underated. So sad. :(

  • gloria still looking beautiful at 53

  • I remember this clip so much. I love it because one second it's quiet then the next second georgeous Gloria appears out of nowhere sings Conga her number one hit whilest the whloe Sesame Street cast join in then when Gloria disspears it goes quiet again. When it's quiet they are thinking where did Gloria go? We wanted her to stay so we can have a noisy day doing the Conga all day. I wonder what Gloria is up to now? Does she still sing? Love you forever Gloria Estefan your the best singer ever xx

  • 2.35: and life goes on...

  • @BigT8943 Doing the conga?

  • en que año fue?

  • 10 de marzo 1994

  • The Muppets in the segment are the best. The Conga Line of the then main stars, Herry and Hoots shaking there thangs in the background, Biff and Sully boogying down, Big Bird trying to keep up, Alice shimmying, ForgetFull Jones and Buster dancing in the appartment, heck, even Slimey!

  • This is so random!! I love it!!!!

  • I bet the Muppeteers had fun with that segment!

  • bonito video!!! thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is definately one of Gloria's biggest hits.

  • This is most likely Forgetful Jone's last moment on SS :(

  • oh wow... that was good television back then great memories. what kid can look back on television now..i mean really?? you gonna look back at hannah Montana in your 20's? the 90's were great: magic school bus, professor iri, magic box, puzzle place, the best years of sesame street. good good memories.

  • I have not seen this one years.

  • I love how at the end of this they just go back top what they were doing like that block party never happened at all!

    Funny...and weired!

  • Sesame Street Big Bird Oscar the Grouch Carroll Spinney Ernie Steve Whitmire Bert Grover Cookie Monster Frank Oz Elmo Hoots Kevin Clash Telly Marty Robinson Rosita Carmen Osbahr Roxie Marie Fran Brill Count Jerry Nelson 1990s

  • Some many familiar faces were on Sesame Street at the time of this clip: Mr. Munford, Savion (the tap-dance master) to name a couple. If David (played by Northern Calloway) were still alive, he would be knocked out of this one.

  • You mean Mr. Handford, I believe, right?

  • Yeah. You'll also notice this was a very transitional time on the show. We still had older charachters like Forgetful Jones, Buster, Biff and Sully, who were on their way out a year or 2 later, and we had all these new charachters who were just being introduced, Rosita, Roxie Marie, and Merry Monster.

  • Well... that was quite of a surprise. And also a surprising way to teach kids back in early 1990s the conga. You go, Miss Estefan.

  • Was this from the 1991-92 season?

  • i don't know exactly when, but i do know that it's gotta be somewhere around that (because i seem to recall seeing this when i was little.) (i was born in 1988) (i don't know when the song became popular.)

  • Gloria Estefan sung it with her former band, the Miami Sound Machine. It was from the 1985 hit album "Primitive Love" and it was released on August 1, 1985.

  • i was actually talking about this segment (not the song itself.)

  • @Wheeloffortunefan999 I think the song came out around '85 but I'm not 100% sure.

  • dude this brings back memories!

  • Oh yes I loved the conga. And I've always had a crush on Gloria.

  • Ernie is in this sketch. I think he was performed by Steve Whitmire at the time. That's because he performed Ernie and Kermit the Frog after Henson's death in 1990. During Season 22 of Sesame Street, Steve Whitmire announced that he will take over the roll of Kermit the Frog and Ernie.

  • Well, Steve Whitmire wouldn't take over Ernie until 1993 when the producers of Sesame Street finally decided to recast him. Kermit the Frog, on the other hand, has been performed by Steve since Jim Henson's death.

  • The cameos who joined in were: Ernie (Steve Whitmire) Bert (Frank Oz) Elmo (Kevin Clash) Telly Monster (Marty P. Robinson) Count Von Count (Jerry Nelson) Cookie Monster (Frank Oz) Rosita (Carman Osbahr) Grover (Frank Oz) Roxie Marie (Fran Brill) The Honkers (Various)
  • I also see Herry Monster and Hoots the Owl. They're not in the conga line though. They're jammin' with each other the background.

  • Don't forget Biff & Sully, Oscar & Grundgetta, Forgetful Jones & Buster.

  • Oddly enough, the number appeared in the episode before Rosita's debut, yet she still appears in the number.

  • That's Right! Rosita's Debut was in the next episode.

  • One can only imagine where the music is coming from.

  • Gloria looks sexy even on Sesame Street. I love how she just shows up out of nowhere and starts singing. Only on Sesame Street and in existential animation is this nothing unusual.
