  • Nice sound, but inconsistent.

  • Three years have passed since I last played this piece and this is still the best recording i've heard, both on youtube and on itunes. i LOVE how you play. You are a very exciting performer.

  • love the face at 0:53

  • nice tone.

  • Lovely belt against the all black :)

I played the 4th mvt. to this about 4 years ago and I'm going back now to learn the rest. Excellent job though.

  • What a special pianist! Truly remarkable!!

  • how long have you be playing the flute? you are great

  • seven before 40, the hairpins are too dramatic and WAY WAY WAY exaggerated... sorry, just trying to help a flutist out :p

    good job again!

  • Overall.. an fine fine performance!!!

I think one of your problems is getting too excited.. haha especially at cirlce 37. the notes tend to come out airy and i guess sounding a bit harmonic? idk how to describe that sorry but i think youre overblowing too much and if you focus your sound a little more. you got it down! the same applies to 39 also.. and are you taking off your pinkie for high e sometime?.. you prob know about that :p just makin sure.. itll come out cleaner! hmm also i think that

  • How old were you in this? High School? Undergrad?

  • He said he was around 18

  • this is just.. fantastic!!

and the pianist too! she's brilliant!

i think this is probably my favorite video out of all of your videos!

    great job!!

  • Amazing job on the cadenza...you sound great. And nice tie :)

  • Gosh. You are a really, really amazing player. I'd love to hear you live. If you can sound this great on YoutTube, I can just imagine how invoking your tone and presence would be in a real performance. True artist!

  • I LOVE IT!!! A bit slow, my favourite recording is still of Phil Swanson and Robert Muczynski, but VERY WELL DONE!!!

  • I LOVE how dark your tone is especially in the 3rd movement. What kind of flute and headjoint to you play on? I'm planning on upgrading to a Miyazawa, Muramatsu, or Trevor James in the next few weeks... How much was your headjoint? I love the richness of the gold, it's absolutely gorgeous!

Awesome job on the sonata by the way, I'm actually working on this right now for the next solo competition in my area, do you have any advice for it?

  • sounds nice, who's the flutist??

  • WOW!!!!

    That was AWESOME

  • i absolutely love the expressions on your face when you played the cadenza. haha. and of course, you're rather good.

  • Cadenza in the 4th was insaneeee. Great job!

  • I tried playing the 4th mvt at the tempo written and its soo crazyy!!!

  • superb musicianship...this has nothing to do with the music but I like the way you are dressed as well.

  • lolol

  • Actually, I really love the way you hold your flute. I don't know how many times it's been banged into our (as in flutists) heads on how we're "supposed" to hold the flute. I'm sure it helps to a degree, but I suppose once you get to a certain level it gets a little more relaxed.

Plus just about everything in your playing was lovely~

  • Have you played Three preludes for unaccompanied flute Op.18?

  • very good!!!

  • many people have bad posture. i dont think it affects the playing at all. my friend has perfect posture, but it doesnt make her a better flute player. in fact i dont think she has very good tone at all. i'm sure it would be more beneficial to have good posture, but for right now, i think he's pretty darn good enough.

  • when she talks about about bad posture, does your left arm feel like it's going to fall off? mine does that a lot. i think it's because my flute is so heavy. i have a pearl and i'm thinking about getting a new one. mine has a small hole so i'm out there lookig for a headjoint with a bigger hole. they say it helps. well you still sound amazing.

  • hm.. Well, not so sure about that. It's just a habit I suppose. I can hold it straight for a long time, but I just keeps falling back. The headjoint hole is so individual so it isn't sure it's gonna help you. I used to play on an AristaHJ with a soft edge and quite oval.

  • FUN FUN FUN! EXCELLENT!! .. brought back memories for me!!

  • nice tempo choices here, much better than the first two. I like alot

  • ... :)

  • By the way, is Mvt. 4 your favorite? It certainly sounds and looks like your favorite. When I played the piano in this piece mvt. 4 was most certainly my fav!

  • Your tone and intonation is pretty good you just have REALLY bad posture! Make sure you keep your flute up, you'll look better and sound better. By the way what kind of flute do you play?

  • Yeah i know. Already worked on it. I'll think about it!

14k Arista headjoint, and PS(1707) Altus body. Keep an eye after it. It has just been stolen!!

  • ....:( omg that is really sad. Hey I almost bought an Altus 'Limited' when I was looking at new flutes this summer, I really loved it. (but I got a Nagahara: full concert)

  • okay nice.. I'm gonna buy a Nagahara 14th January. Just tried it in Germany this month and loved it.

  • excellent mastery of emotion and feel of piece. Keep up the good work. The pianist is also fun to watch.
