  • I love this! Could you share what tuning you're using?

  • @wellhof Hi, it's tuned in re-entrant C tuning: gCEA. Thanks!

  • What a beautiful, skilful rendition on a wonderful instrument.

I created an account just to leave this comment.

  • @TheLittleShyninMan: Thanks so much for your comment! I appreciate it.

  • what an absolutly amazing sounding uke

  • Love this air. You do it justice!

  • loved it!

  • Very nice, thanks ;-)

  • That was wonderful!!!

  • Just curious: I love that uke... would you buy it again given the chance? I'm kinda looking, but I'm not sure if I want a reso or a koa one. What do you like about it?

  • I would say that the reso sound is not for everyone or every type of song. If you do a lot of picking styles, the reso works well. For strumming, though, not so much in my opinion. The wood body of this National gives it a little warmer quality. All-steel resonators are more harsh and in-your face. I would never give up my koa ukes. The resophonic is more of novelty rather than an all-purpose instrument.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I think I'll stick to wooden ones. Now I'll just have to learn to play "Rosin the Beau" on the uke. I wouldn't have believed it could turn out so well on the uke until I heard it. Gorgeous.

  • Really, really like the sound you get out of that resonator uke. I have a Beltona - there's something mesmerizing about the resonator uke's nasal tone.

  • Thanks! I played a Beltona tenor at a festival once; it had a great tone. Different from a National with its own unique sound. Very lightweight too. And bright cherry red -- nice.

  • Yes, it's tuned in re-entrant C tuning: gCEA. Thanks!

  • That's awesome-

Are you using regular uke tuning?

  • perfect...

  • They do not make a sunburst style anymore

the Maple has a clear finish, the Mahogany also has just a clear coat. They can be play more quietly but that hum on this song is great.

National puts a small brass plate with a number on the back of the tunning head so you can probably write to National and find out how old it is. Send me the chords if you got them.

  • Sir,

That National rings like a bell and your playing is spot on and so beautiful!! Congrats!!

  • MercurialAndQuixotic, where can we buy that kind of ukulele it sounds soooo niceeeee

  • They are hard to come by. Believe it or not, I picked this one up on eBay a couple of years ago.

  • Great job! 5 stars!

  • Thanks very much!

  • beautiful song and instrument..

  • Excellent playing!

  • Awesome

  • outstanding! 5 stars! and sub

  • Thanks for the kind note!

  • beautiful and LOUD!

  • Yes, indeed -- that resonator is loud. Though the wood body gives it a little warmer quality. The all-steel resonators are more in-your face, which is great too for some songs! Thanks for the note!
