  • This is great, love everything Ryan does. There is such great separation of forms!

  • Im wondering why my clay brush isnt as powerful as yours! No matter which settings I put, it doesnt allow me to drag as much as yours... And 1 question: Are you using move brush in modelling the head and clay + standard for the rest???

  • @zanfankid yes, zbrush has a very complicated interface. 3d max its not so dificult

  • Big eyes

  • that's so cool. I remember learning Maya and 3d s max back in the day.

  • I love Ryan, he's such an amazing artist. And a really easy to listen to teacher!

  • Just 2 words :

    Learn Houdini :P

  • houdini is more of a physic mathematicaal thing than a 3d modeling tool.(i know it do 3d) but take xsi/maya in combination with zbrush.

  • u can model in houdini but it's easier to do it in zbrush or mudbox. But you can't compare houdini with maya . With houdini you aren't creating your animation , you are creating a way of obtaining that animation. This gives you a lot of control over your scene. It all depends on preferences . And i prefer Houdini with mudbox :P

  • dude...u look like dat

  • I think the general idea is when the model is exported, the shape is optimised and the detail is made into a map

making wrinkles and individual hairs is kinda the point of zbrush

  • Hahaha, are you serious?!

    Please, think before you write.

  • How long did it take to "draw" this head???

  • awsome!!!!!!!!!!

  • He or she knows her anatomy.

  • he looks like playdoh! =)

  • Im using Softimage XSI think I'll get Z Brusg for modeling organic stuff and for modeling mountains. XSi with Z brush is the best combination but some need Mayas better particles.

  • I think maya's redering and animations is better too.

  • but the "drawing" in 3d is limited and isnt as good as zbrush. I have Maya and Zbrush, and I say that you can't fit everything into one program.

  • os(stolen) is faster? lol. not really. never was, isn't presently at all. Do a render in both platforms, and do it with the same mhz(ghz) memory timings, and same amount of threads runnings, with the same processor count. Interface opinion, ok, lack of knowledge and babbling about OS speed. STFU.

  • I declare his name murphy

  • i really want to get into 3d modelling(character design) but dont know where to begin. Do i use a pc or mac, do i use 3d Max or Maya? Someone please help as i have the main tool which is a very imaginative mind. Thankyou.

  • PC..

  • use pc, more options than mac, cheaper, but mac barely has any spyware, viruses compared to pc. maya more expansive (fluid fx, particles, etc) but 2* max price 4 full version.if u only want 2 model, try both n see which you like more, and use zbrush or mudbox

  • PC and ZBRUSH 3

  • I use Blender on PC. However, to me it looks like Zbrush is the best-quality software, and, oddly enough, it is the cheapest too.

  • intel based macs are the best for ZBrush, but they're not neccesairly the best if your used to having thousands of windows open...

  • platform - makes little difference these days

modern pc and mac architectures are the same. performance is the same. PC's are cheaper and ubgradability is least expensive.

I think one app is too limiting. use one for modeling and another for animation -

  • It depends steven...how long you may want to be modeling..also if your thinking about companies dont learn 3d software for that reason because chances are they have their own software for animation/modeling which they will teach you.

  • of course u should learn 3d software, cause if u've never tried modeling or animating there is of course 0 percent chance of getting a job, all 3d modelers/whatever must have some kind of bottom.

  • maya is the best 3d software for organics and its much powerfuller than max, dont let the interface scare u though, it looks more complicated than it rly is. I would recommend maya and zbrush, zb3 4 modeling.

  • i love maya its so nice and well organized, i dont understand max and zbrush just frustrates me so i gotta get my zbrush skills up...

  • Maya is nowadays almost as cheap as max so don't bother thinking about the price, just buy maya and zbrush(eventually mudbox) cause I believe that is the best combination... and well mac/PC is just a personal opinion, I prefer PCs though, more options but sadly enough more errors too, and windows doesn't look as stunning as macosX and it's slower too.

  • UM SORRY but mud mox may seem similar to Zbrush but trust me man Zbrush is the better buy it was the first of its kind and Mudbox has not been able to coppy it at all. Maya sorry has lost its touch sure I may use it but soon Im trying to use Max. I hope that Autodesk does not buy pixologic.

  • Maya hasnt lost it's touch, it's just a piece of software lol, they're developing it all the time and it (still) beats max at everything. Yeah ZB might be better than mudbox I don't doubt that.

  • I do love maya its the first program of 3D modeling I learned but man autodesk is cheap every year Maya only has a few new features.

  • That's not true, and 3ds max doesnt change alot neither, I dont think any software has like any big sudden changes, they gradually improve them. TBH I dont see what could be improved alot anymore :P

  • still waiting for my update to arrive...this looks amazing though!

  • great no snd to go with no work... :(

  • amazing.u started by a normal and simple head. And now only the texture is missing for a real head.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaah I love this new Version of Zbrush
