all you people that are being haters about this program should try it first because it sounds like you just want to be average and thats ok for losers
for all you globo gym rats, your workouts are my warm up. Read the science behind crossfit, and you will see that even guys in their 60's are blowing 30 year olds away. If you can have a 70 year old grandmother start crossfit, its time rethink your perception of crossfit. Don't talk about it. Just try it!
True it's not for everyone. What does the hallowed wikipedia say though about dropouts from "standard" gyms? I used to go to the local Y and every Jan there's what we call the New Years resolution crowd. Wait a month or two and they've almost all quit.
oh common.. why do you need an instructor??? have a mirror.effort, disciplin and do it yourself. i work out at home. "scooby" in youtube will help you with his videos.
I just love it when the instructor teaches the olympic lifts without being able to do them properly himself. Doesen't that contradict the whole purpose of having an instructor to teach them?
how long does it usually take for one of you clients to see the advantages of your workouts...for instance is there a change in the vertical leaping ability...that is what I'm trying to obtain...and one more thing...do you have your clients doing the same exercises every workout or do your clients do different workouts every session never using the same exercise?
I am a former US Marine, snapped my right leg in half on a training mission back in 2000. Haven't been able to work out like I used to and lost alot of strength. Been doing CF for a month and I feel like I'm getting back all of my strength and then some already.
> They were testing there (sic) fitness level, not working out.
Not so, that was not a fitness "test". Well, not in the way that all Crossfit workouts are not fitness tests per say, but they sure as h3ll test your fitness! ;-)
the "form" that is so prized in olympic weightlifting, is exactly what translates into functional power and strength, the form mostly involves learning to move explosively and fully extend the ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, and wrists... which is why those with great form have great lifts and are otherwise also amazing athletes
this vid is not nearly dynamic enough. 9 minutes is just way too long. I dont know much about cross training but if they achieved their goal,I guess its ok. This vid is nothing special and I can hardly imagine myself doing this kind of workout.
Im a Dr. of physiology and I know for a fact that you should not work out this way! It's bad for your health. It will cause Over use injuries, supressed immune system, nervous disoders and worst of all, it will cause toxic shock symdrome that could shut down major organ functions. The first symtom is wanting to puke. Sorry for my spelling, English is my 3rd :o) language. Add to your workout a little at a time at a moderate intensity. Pace yourself and you will see great results.
Dr. huh? Yeah sure you are. First of all, Crossfit is scaled up and down for whatever fitness level you're at. That's why Grannys to elite athletes can both use CF. The instuctors never force you to do anything but let you develop at your own pace. How about learning more about the system before you spout your ignorant mouth.
Yeah, that big word is physiology doctorate. My point was not to workout like this video. They were testing there fitness level, not working out. Crossfit is an ok system just like any other.(my ignorant mouth you say) ha,ha, Now go play in the street little boy!
Have you ever trained in Crossfit under a competant instructor??? I'm guessing not. Try it. It may just change your mind. CF is primarily for developing strength/function as opposed to weight lifting where form is much more prized than function. I apologize for the ignorant mouth remark as that was disrespectful.
Crossfit has a great impact on physical health and core strength. Nobody's saying a 300lb man should step up and try this workout. Obviously it takes time to get to a point in which you can workout in this manner. But practically all forms of exercise come with hazards. That doesn't mean everyone should just stick to jogging and monotonous routines a few times a week. The body responds better to variety. Surprised you didn't know this.
I went from broken neck to back to work in Afgahnistan in 7 months. Out performing every other soldier. The Crossfit guys crush other styles of working out.
It depends on what you are training for. This high volume high intensity training is perfect for MMA athletes and the likes. Obviously this isn't there first workout. I think its a good workout video and there clients are probably happy with the results they are getting. As a fellow trainer no need for negativity, all training techniques have positives and negatives and all clients are different.
That girl Gaby is one tough sob! The dudes are sick in shape. After seein this I'm definitely joining Punishment in Paradise in Honolulu! Scary intense!
that was awesome, the only thing i was confused about is the amount of reps in the warmup and also during the 100 reps weight part, i couldnt follow how they broke it up! otherwise, this looks like an excercise that can definently make changes in your body! lol
not all of wikipedia is accurate
maybee
the 70/30 theory

Don't bother with them. They don't care about actual fitness, only the appearance of fitness.

know what i just read on wikipedia? "Up to 80% of those who begin the program at CrossFit gyms drop out within 60 days." i wonder why.
