Hey Chris! Why would you not suggest upgrading to Office 2007? I just did it last week and, while I'm not a big MS fan, am amazed at the leap ahead in the UI, experience, and usability. Finally, Microsoft got Office right! Definitely worth the upgrade in my opinion.

I don't know about anyone else, but after the beta ended, I downloaded something called "compatibility pack for the 2007 office system", and with it, I can make and read office 07 files with a copy of office 2003. You should be able to find it on Microsoft's site.
