One bit of advise outside of what your talking about, Get another camera with better audio (crossfading back and forth driving people crazy) or use an external mic connected to the camera your using.

Dude its a GREAT IDEA! I did something similar when i was still in school. I had announcement over the intercom telling the school that if anybody had ideas of art they'd like to see to write them on a paper and place it in a box we had in front of the audiotorium. People left half finished art works, ideas, finished peices, and i took them and made them all blend together. It was then made into a poster and then hung in the school cafe. I think its a genius idea, alot of work but genius!
