@emperormai Due to the high ohm rating (300 ohm's) you need a pretty good amplifier to drive it well and for it to sound at its best. headphones of this quality tend to make poor quality mp3's sounds aweful, best to listen to Cd's or music with a bit rate higher that 320kbps. iTunes files (258kbps might sound ok.) my advice would be to get a 50 ohm pair of headphones like the sennheiser 598's. i have these and my ipod classic drives them at an acceptable level at full volume and sounds great

@tupac0306 can't say from experience but sennheisers do really well in terms of comfort as well as sonic performance. their audiophile range i.e. hd518 hd558 and hd598 are about £80-200 and i could quite easily where them for hours. the hd800's would be made from the highest quality material and would be really comfortable, though you would expect it for there price!

The majority at head fi feel the HD800 is more neutral with more accurate bass that extends much further......How is having a 'lush' mid range neutral? & true neutral/transparent headphone gets out of the way of the music.. & the best I heard to do that are the K1000/HP1/2/NAGRA DT48S 50's edition. I'm sure the LCD2 are not too far behind.. & you have some StaX..02/4070 which are considered neutral & transparent I but never heard them before.

Beyerdynamic Tesla is on the same sound quality level as thye Sennheiser HD800 , and cost ~$400 less.More neutral also, the Ultrasone Edition 8 are too bassy,the PS-1000 too forward for mixing. The AudioTechnica ATH5000 too lean(bass) and the denon D7000 slightly bass "rich". The HD800 slight extra sparkle on top,the Tesla is just flat(among reference dynamic cans) to my ears.
