This short film was made by few people who don't know anything about army, military and weapons. That's the reason why the soldier have american gun, british gasmask, some type of chinese airsoft harness etc. They just used first gear and weapons what they found. There is not specified when did it happen (10 days later, 28 days, 20 weeks..) so that guy can be British soldier but American/NATO too. It doesn't matter. In 28 weeks later were US soldiers too dressed in bad gear.

If this were to fit in the continuity of the film (which the fim makers obviously intended) it's an American character.

Pretty average stuff here and the actor playing the soldier wasn't schooled in basic weapons handling, KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU INTEND TO SHOOT.  The Britsh Army doesn't use the M16/M4 variants of assault rifles, only special forces use these weapons like the SAS and the Royal Marines Special Boat Squadron,the British Army use's the L85A2.

The rifle was an Airsoft replica and the pistol was a copy of the Beretta 92F firing 8mm blanks.

I always think that a HazMat suit with a gasmask just make you an easy kill.

tunnel vision and impaired hearing. Guns or not, you won't be firing a round if there's an infected pouncing on you from behind cause you didn't see/hear it coming.

Makes me think if cutting back on the gear slightly and relying on our primal senses instead would be a lot greater help than these bulky outfits...

Since this guy is portrayed as a soldier its highly unlikely he would have a m16 (british soldiers are issued sa80's) or even find a AR-15 in the UK seeing as how strict they are with gun laws over there.

the m16 used by the guy is an air-soft gun. its a CLASSIC ARMY M15. i own one and the lettering (in white) are the same. Real m16's lettering are in black. Yes, i know actors aren't supposed to use real guns, but they should have covered the lettering up. Im not ranting though i know it doesn't matter...

Personally, I believe evasion would be the best choice of action, but then again, he probably lost his unit to the infected so there is no telling what he could do to avoid getting infected.

I must say that guy wasn't very fortunate. And after becoming one of the infected, that guy's screwed anyway because he'll eventually die in one of two ways; either the army will track him down and put him down like a rabid dog, or he'll succumb to starvation along with the rest of the infected.

A lone soldier falls victim to the ineffectiveness of weapons when faced with a small number of the infected. Even with that one pistol, you can tell he was a lousy shot. Somehow I'm not so sure if it was the fault of the gun that jamed on him or his lack of proper training that resulted in him ending up being infected. And as shown in this video, if the infected don't kill you right away, they'll pass the virus to you and get you infected. One bite, one scratch, and you become one of them.
