  • Nice coat!

  • IMHO, one of the most dynamic and exciting songs of the '80s. This and "I Can't Stand It" are my fave Clapton tunes. Thanks so much for posting!!

  • I saw him live at madison square garden in 1985, I'm still shivering !!!

  • I wish Eric baby could go on for another 20 yrs. oh yeah babe...

  • what a voice !!

  • touching t he soul of the blues

  • Whatever negative comments are posted here about Eric Clapton's appearance or vocals, let me attest to the fact, from attending one of his live performances, that he really can make a guitar wail!

  • LOVE the song. Think the video's sorta...Uhm, NO.

  • Why cant music sound like this today??????? WTF!!

  • i tuned his guitar that day i totally outta tuned it and he totally farted loud i said hey eric stop gassing around you fart man

  • can someone tell me what kind of coat is that

  • @alexdak7 It's like a trench coat

  • @GuitarMaster6567 Thank you a lot!

  • @GuitarMaster6567 -I believe such coats were called "Dusters" and are often seen in Western films. James Coburn wore one when he rode his motorcycle in the film Fist Full of Dynamite.

  • I'm love it!

  • 0:24 - is that Duck Dunn on bass?

  • Hans Gruber. :)

  • just reminds of a guy i used to work with IAN THOMPSON

Reminds me of a guy i used to work with in late 70's/80,s Ian Thompson fron Darwen. LOL

  • I'm gonna play this at my wedding!

  • I WANT HIS COAT.

  • I'LL BE YA FORRRRREEEEEVER MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

  • He looks like Chuck Norris in here x)

    Awesome song and awesome guitarrist

  • @DarkieBC no. Chuck Norris Looks Like Eric Clapton...

  • @indyclone123 no it's really Chuck Norris singing Eric Clapton.

  • who in the right mind would ever dislike this song, you obviously are an idiot..... 1 of his SO many great songs!

  • Clapton preferes the Fender Sratocaster

  • Clapton preferes the Fener Stratocaster

  • WHY HAVE THUS VIDEO 422 905 WHEN REBECCA BLACK HAVE LIKE 6 000000 !!!

  • too cool...you just dont get this kind of musicianship today, at least not in the mainstream. Music today is a sad joke.

  • Fender Stratocaster at it's best

  • @johnjb076 Still I like clapton more when he plays Gibsons

  • claption at his finest

  • Awesome song!!!

  • looks like norris, but chukles never got me laid

  • CHUCK NORRIS.

  • I want his coat too.

  • dude makes that guitar his bitch. none better.

  • I absolutely love Eric,it's much more than his guitar playing,he's got the whole package! Charm, style, charisma and oh yea talent! ♥♥

  • YESS

  • The MASTER in his prime.

  • clapton looks like chuck norris :O

  • @psychopathicfish97 wrong. chuck norris looks like clapton.

  • Eric and Donald "Duck" Dunn the greats.

  • A Fender Stracocaster is the Top of the line Guitar

  • The little solo in this song inspired my love of guitar years ago. Amazing tone, and incredible musicality! I wish there were more musicians that listened to Clapton these days.

  • Muito boa a qualidade do som desse vídeo. Parabéns! Eric Clapton in Rio! foi demais o show!!!

  • The guys shooting this missed a great opportunity @ around 1:29 to see some of Clapton's incredible making luv to his guitar. Shame.

  • No offense to Eric Clapton or the backup singers, but where in the world did he get those women and WTF are they wearing???

  • @acecat44 : They are the very talented Laura Creamer and the also highly talented singer-songwriter Marcy Levy. Marcy also wrote songs with Clapton that became hits. Other major talent on the stage are veteran bass man Donald Dunn (Booker T and the MGs) the gifted guitarist Tim Renwick (of Pink Floyd), keyboard artist Chris Stainton and drummer Jamie Oldaker. One hell of a band!

  • You know. He looks a lot like Chuck Norris in this video. But who cares? Clapton beats Chuck in a rock off.

  • Glad I found this song. It is one of my favorites by Clapton. I wish it was twice as long with more guitar solo in it.

  • 6 people aren't a forever man/woman...

  • Damn!!He can make a guitar SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aaaaand Chuck Norris on the guitar! XD

  • @JTBLACKMAN43

    possibly "Derek and the Dominoes"?

  • classic clapton

  • Who the fuck in this universe can dislike this?

  • I think "Layla" and "Forever man" are the best eric's songs :)

  • @RachelR96 You are so right it's scary! And my pick for #3 would go to Bell Bottom Blues.

What are your other favs ?

  • @RachelR96 Cocaine also

  • @RachelR96 It's really hard to compare them, I listen to more blusey type stuff, my fav Clapton songs are Bell Bottom Blues, Layla, and Presence of the lord.

  • @GuitarMaster6567 Presence Of The Lord was covered in 1988 by the Christian hard rock band Rez (Resurrection Band)

  • @RachelR96 Totally agree with you :)

  • @RachelR96

Derek & The Dominoes all the way when it comes to Layla. Forever Man tops his cover of Layla.

  • I just finished reading Clapton's autobiography--besides being an incredible talent, he's lucky to be alive. He's seen and been through it all, and has managed to come out on the other side as one hell of a great human being (and dad!--that alone makes him extremely cool!!) He tells the hard truth about his life without excuses--not many can do that. Hey EC--I live in Worthington too--next time you're visiting the inlaws let's chat!

  • who can dislike Eric Clapton?

  • The only guitar player who could stand next to Hendrix, slightly to the back, they were friends.

  • @drwho481 Funny thing...when Hendrix was unknown and went over to London to be promoted, his single request was to meet Eric Clapton as Clapton was legendary at that time...he did and they did become friends

  • favorite

  • Classic!!!!!!

  • Chuck Norris and Eric Clapton want Ron Paul 2012!

  • Chuck Norris sings Eric Clapton

  • Chuck Noris didn't give Eric Clapton permission to look like this...Eric Clapton gave Chuck Noris permission to have this look

  • together with jimmy hendriks and carlos santana the greatest gitar player in the world ever.

  • I instantly repeat this song in my head over and over again. GREAT!

  • This NEEDS more views. Fuck the music of today.

  • I love this guy and this great song.

  • perv coat

  • i thought it was a black guy singing at first

  • this is one on the best ever he looks mmmmmm

  • 'Slowhand' hit #26 in Billboard, 4-27-85. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • I remember the first time I ever heard this song as a kid... In the movie "Space Camp"... I love 80's movies and music!!!!!

  • watch him smile around 1:15

  • When I first heard this song I thought it was "poor river man" instead of "forever man".

  • @antinbama thats actually not a bad alternative!

  • hi guys i did a fingerstyle arrangement cover of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight on my channel please check it out!!!!!

  • i never did understand did i?

  • I didnt know chuck norris played the guitar so cool!

  • MANLY

  • I want his coat.

  • @CbassNL Me too.

  • @CbassNL As Long as I can get that guitar.

  • @CbassNL Check out the J. Peterman catalog--last I checked, they had dusters like his. I know what you mean--it is incredible!!

  • I want too!

    Great song.

  • @CbassNL You may want to check out the J. Peterman catalog--it's been a while, but I think they still have a coat like that. You're so right, it's a fantastic piece of work. One thing I have to ask, tho. Who are the back-up singers and WTH are they wearing??

  • clapton with his fender strocaster. Priceless

  • i love this song!!

  • i like his strat and the tone of music

  • @snowmandummy its blackie

  • what a guitarist this man is with music untouchable! keep doing my man eric clapton! don't quit til you exit stage right.

  • There have only been a few AMAZING guitarists in history as far as i am concerned.

Clapton is definitly one of them.

  • 5 dislikes ..dude weak

  • I do wish that Clapton would return to this type of guitar play. Even just for one record. I do like his blues music as well, but it would be refreshing to see him master this type of guitar rock again.

  • Chills all around...

  • can you guys check out some of my playing? clapton is my friggin hero, but I'm sort of newbish at guitar and would like some advice, thanks :D

  • I miss 80s music when I hear stuff like this! just sooo good, so much spirit!

  • As some modern Cockneys, using their rhyming slang, would say, Slowhand is "the dog's Jackson Pollacks on the guitar." Over the years he has made lots of bread (and honey), but EC has had many a problem his the trouble and strifes. And losing his son was a bitter, body blow. Through his pain we have gained great music.

  • Not only is Eric an incredibly sexy badass in this video, but does anyone else but me even care about the smoking hot backup singers ?!?

  • @LiveCrueltyFreeNow I think they're both great looking women as well. Marcy Levy and Shaun Murphy.

  • Rubber man, rubber man, rubber man!

  • I love Eric and this song

  • If only, took me nearly 20 years too late.

  • This video and song are scorching hot and way cool.

  • if anybody has the song somethings happening from behind the sun album could you please upload it for me thanks

  • So sorry, but for the average musician I think you might have to sacrifice left and right.

  • 2:42 when the camera falls off... OH NO!!! That would have been an expensive accident. The director must have felt, "Well might as well use that shot." It's probably the most famous shot from the video by now.

  • this is the greates guitar player i have ever seen

  • God, I love the 80's! Does anyone out there remember that this song was used on the movie, "Space Camp". Can anyone tell me, exactly, when in the movie that the song was played? I can!

  • He said try but he also uses a C instead of the right letter-K. You gotta give it up to him, though. He nailed it. I'm not a fan of how he rhymed cross with boss but the rest of it is decent. I still feel so terribly awful about what happened to his child. I weep with you, Eric. We all do. Tears in Heaven to be sure :,( :,( :,( I'm not trying anything. I'm a doer-not a tryer. You can take that 2 the bank and cash it!

  • Is that Duck Dunn playing bass?

  • @maak657 yep!!

  • @maak657 Yes

  • I'll be your forever woman, Eric...

  • I remember this from NBC's Friday Night Videos

  • Jer kad Eric uzme gitaru on postaje Eric Clapton :-)

  • @aeroplanejunior mislis?

  • @Tolic1000

  • God-a-Mighty, what a groove. Duck Dunne on bass - bass the way bass was meant to be played. I always thought this tune was as close to "Layla" as anything Eric did after the Dominoes era...

  • Vauu sjajni Erik :-) Najezim se od ovakvih stvari.

  • Nice boosters!

  • clapton is the man...period.

  • Three comments:

    1. Hey! Check out Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass.

    2. Man, I thought my workplace was impersonal, but even it doesn't give out matching shirts to all employees with numbers on them.

    3. I was 12 years old when this video came out, totally oblivious to the legend of Eric Clapton. I just knew I liked this song. But because of this song I discovered the legend of Eric Clapton. Forever Man, indeed.

  • Shaun Murphy is great as a session musician singer or as lead..and there are few people who can pull it off !!...I love this video..Shaun is a true pro.....and I think Mr. Clapton knew that when he first heard her and then hired her. ...Shaun, you're the best !

  • He's playing a Fender Stratocaster. One of the best guitars in the world.

  • The live version from 1985 is even better. I'm sure it's on here. Also, "Badge" from the same concert is brilliant.

  • I want this song at my wedding.

  • still love you shoo-pops

  • one of the greats if not the greatest

  • there are two back up vocalists, I know one is Marcy Levy, can anyone tell me who is the other with Marcy?

  • @rdobz Shaun Murphy.

  • @rdobz Shaun Murphy

  • I treasure this album....one of the best in E.C.'s career...introduced him to another generation...Awesome song! Great solo!!

  • Happy Birthday E.C.! Tomorrow 3/30 is Claptons birthday ! Many people overlook the wonderful things he is doing, basically dedicating his life to helping others, and paying for much of it. As great a person as he is a musician, he is an inspiration to me,

  • i would give my right nut.lol

  • 1985 and the Behind the Sun album were a true return of the guitar 'god'. After around 8 years or more of coasting and several hit and miss albums, the pieces all finally came back to together again. This was one of, if not 'the' most important albums of his career, because it brought him back. And he's remained on top ever since.

  • He looked so young here..

  • I saw him live and while I applaud his technical abilities as a guitarist, I have all Cream albums and Derek and the Dominos, he had "0" stage presence. I think the Chuck Norris thing was a joke, dude!!!! .....Actually I thought this was Kenneth Branaugh......

  • Im 17 and cant quit watching this over and over. I hope someday i can touch just one peson with my music as much as claptons has touched me

  • 5 people won't live forever

  • Who knew Hans Gruber could play guitar?!?

  • wow clapton, how much do clothes cost in The Matrix?, ayone else disgusted this only has 293,xxx views?

  • wow clapton, how much do clothes cost in The Matrix?

  • I love how the music video is the making of a music video

  • This was his long coat era. Love this song.

  • How did 5 people vote 'thumbs down' on this video?

  • AWWW GIT IT ERICK!!!!! If I knew he'd listen, I'd play this for my husband.
