    .

  • simply amazing skills

  • amazing. I am an intermediate potter. I am interested in throwing big. is it okay if I email you from with technical questions.

  • @souljourney Hi

Email me at jmpots1@me.com. I am happy to help.

  • Thats a big ass wooden rib

  • Your finished products are pure genius. I like the effects from the soda firing

  • How many pounds of clay did you use?

What is the average time it takes you to throw a pot so large?

What made you want to pursue throwing on such a large scale?

  • what wheel is that can take that weight. a brent model CX?

  • @bttrue10

    Hi

My wheels are 2 thomas stuart wheels and 1 brent cxc

  • Holy molly! How long do those take to dry!? lol

  • @SnowLeoLuv

I can get them to fully dry in 3 days if needed.

  • EXELENTE AMIGO FELICITCIONES DE DONDE SON ESTOS TRABAJOS O ADONDE QUEDA SU FABRICA.

  • damn taht was cool

  • The white stuff is a slip. The glaze is put on when the vase is dry. I do what is called " once firing". All my work is fired to cone 10 in a 250 cubic ft soda kiln. The kiln runs on natural gas. I make about 160 pots a year that range in size from 4 to 7 ft tall. I have recently switched to using a porcelain body that has grog. Sometime over the next month I am going to film me making a 7ft fat vase. In this video I am listening to Patton Oswalt.

  • the white stuff is glaze.i can't hear the music!

  • This is very impressive. How many years have you been throwing?

  • @skiman18100

    about 20 years

  • looks like u apply immediately ,,,,,,,,,,is it better to apply at this stage than at bone dry stage

  • @555NINAD

does not matter with this white slip

  • do u apply glaze after it is bone dry ,,or how it looks here like immediately after the pot is ready on the wheel

  • What is the real time of this video?

  • @sdlarz

    about 1 hour , 45 min

  • great video ,,what is the white liquid you apply in the end ?

  • @555NINAD glaze

  • @jmpots This was a great video. I just started on the wheel recently and I'm only making cylinders currently. I was wondering, what does the torch do? I was guessing it was just like a "pre-fire". Also, how long have you been throwing on a wheel, or been doing some sort of ceramics class.

  • this guy is amazing!!

  • I also would like to see the finished piece, the music should be you secret though :)

  • this video is so cool :) i would love to paint them :)

  • What type of clay do you use when doing this?

  • Small question: why do you torch the pottery while its still spinning?

  • @VoluptuousB He torches the clay to harden the clay so it is strong enough to support the weight of the piece he's putting on top of it. If it's too soft it will start to collapse when there's too much weight and make the piece off-center.

  • wow,,,excellent,,,,thanks

  • how do you center that much clay with one hand?

  • Great video, thanks! How long did it take you to do ir real time?

  • What are you painting on the pot? is this wax or some kind of underglaze?

  • real nice

  • Great seeing you moving the material around !! Very easy going video and fun .. All the best , Guy

  • Wow, I am very impressed!!! Congratulations. Question: why do you "burn" the pieces with that torch? It is so you can add the other pieces soon after and the piece won´t colapse? I have never seen it done!!! How long did it take to finish the whole piece? Thank you for your info!!!

  • well, i was wondering about some slightly in depth things! like frames per second while you were recording (because it's so sped up), and the sound.. did you literally just video as normal and then use some software to speed it up, or did you use something in your camera? if you did use software for it, what software was it?!

  • This is such a great video! I love the sounds and the speed of it. Would love to ask you some technical questions about how you made the video..

  • @joshredmanart

Please feel free to ask away . . .

  • more please.

  • Nice demonstration, we LOVE the pots you make for us. Each of them stands in a prominent place in the house, and they take on a life of their own.

  • Great video! You need to do more of these videos please.

  • Joe! This is unbelievable.... Jill and I had so much fun watching it this weekend. Please post more of these- and put them to the music you are listening to. Do you have a picture of this final vessel somewhere? We were left hanging....
