I don't know the answer to that johnnyb831 (since it is in the future) but it does let the viewer know clearly that we are talking about an operating system. It's being recognizable helps explain the function, and I think the author (that's not me, I'm just the animator) does include the very important functions in this system.
I'm sorry to be so superficial, but I'd like to have access to technology like this for purely entertainment purposes. I mean, as a fashion accessory, does anything beat animated nano body-paint? One could, by deduction, be able to download new firmware to whatever drives the graphics? Would Nike Pay ME for a swoosh that animates on the back of my head? I'm game.
The closest thing to this on the market currently is a glucose monitoring wristwatch that checks your blood sugar every 15mins, it can only test a small amount of times before it needs refilling though.
But there are some contact lenses in development that have a small spot that automatically changes colour in response to blood glucose levels (tested from your tears) in realtime.
Who would ever want this? I don't think I would want to know all this information about my health. I think the worries about this information will make you sick. Our body will never be entirely in balance, not even if we try; being confronted with this each and everyday will have a mayor impact on peoples mental health.
If this application were to effect you in this way then it might not be for you. And w/ all technologies, it should be a personal choice to use them or not. But for those who would use it daily as a computer & communication, these would probably "appear" to be the most active parts of the system although the medical stats could be set to only notify the user if something is detected. This nanomedical device could save many lives. A lot of tragedies could be prevented w/ the early detection.
You could set it up so that it notifies you only when something is detected - if that's what you want to do. Personally I'm okay with checking, if something feels wrong I can check and if everthing is fine I could be at ease, if it turns out that something is wrong, those extra critical minutes could save my life.
bbkingdom - I personally would feel much safer knowing that my health is being monitored as it could save my life. There are many situations where one does not even know that something is happening until it is too late. Regarding the touch navigation, you make an excellent point! Thank you for your visit and comment.
Interesting and a bit scary. One addition though... something that probably will not work in this presentation video, but I would imagine the nanon's have learned my brain patters and know what I want to see, so pressing buttons is probably not needed.
Agreed that simple displays will happen before anything this advanced. A watch is a good example. What nanogirl has here is a combination PDA full-body medical monitor, and perhaps even more than that.
And yeah, the lifetime orgasm count was cute, but you'd have to get it installed awfully young! ^_~
Hi Xenophile - you are on the right track here. It could be as complicated as the moment to moment monitoring, or even a step further with direct communication and/or access to the medical treatment itself. About the count - that's what I said, but this was the authors number, I was just the animator! : )
Surprised noone mentioned the word 'Dattoo'..The design in this video is obviously an advanced one, but simpler Dattoos like a watch or even a cellphone are probably only 5-10 years away.
You are correct RevKeaponLaffin, it certainly is feasible that paint on watches or other similar devices could arrive in the near future. Thank you for commenting!
JohnDoe - although realistically this feature indeed could be monitored the author that I worked with (Nanomedicine by Robert A. Freitas Jr.) to develop this animation wanted to include this as a moment of lightheartedness. Of course the main and most important features of this display is the ability to monitor ones health and body statistics.
agungk - Your comment disappeared please come back and repost it! The timeline itself is up for debate, some speculate that the "strong" nanotech apps could happen between 10 to 30 years but others assume a longer timeline. Either way I think it might happen within our lifetime. The wonderful thing about this technology is that it is so small you would not need any sort of invasive surgery. Read more about it @ nanomedicine dot com (Volume I: Basic Capabilities 7.4.6.7).
How exactly would they track orgasm count, given that different things happen in the brain to different people at that time. Funny and absurd addition to an interesting video.
nhprm - when the body is transitioning in this way there are common neurochemical changes occurring in the brain. The dopamine level is raised (the reward chemical) significantly which activates oxytocin receptors and afterwards prolactin kicks in and dramatically decreases dopamine. If the individual person has a controller base number range you would be able to recognize the different highs and lows of these hormonal changes, or in this case the dermal display would be able to. Good question!
that would be such a cool idea doctors and medical staff ariving on scenes of accidents wud get such a better understanding of what cud be done. well done on the animation
Yes indeed imagination43. In fact the onboard computer system could notify the hospital and doctors immediately at the first sign of distress - and perhaps one day even distribution the remedy.
So could this be set up so you're brain becomes the pc? That would be awesome
