When you said "Oh you're Canadian " your accent came through. I'm a Southerner so I might hear your accent more strongly than others (from the U.S.) but overall I would classify your accent as fairly neutral for North Americans.
i never expect an accent from anyone. i'm always suprised to hear one, but where i'm from we never notice accents. please watch my vid and guess where i'm from
You have a slight Canadian accent to my ears (I'm from Oklahoma)..I think it's more in how you pronounce certain words. About and sorry always give Canadians away for me and there were some other words that just sound different like sure and tour. Most of the rest I hear the way you pronounce them and other ways.
i.e. Pecan: pee-can vs peh-con
Route: rhowt vs. rou-oot
Caramel: car-mel vs care-a-mel
I find myself interchanging with route but pronounce pecan (peh-con) and caramel (care-a-mel).
I feel so bad for you doing that infront of everyone, but I'm the exact same, I can't say decission... or spell it... but in grade 6 or 7 for me, I had to make an announcment to the whole school, on the PA system and I had to say decission and I kept failing at it and I got SOOO embarrased!
haha for sure! Decision is a tricky word ... especially when I am tired. I am the type of person who think quickly and tends to mash my words together and then come up with my own words lol
I feel the same. But there is always somebody who is like wow do you ever sound Canadian ... or perhaps they are just doing it to get on my nerves lol
pecan - me : pee-can
comfortable - me : comptable
garage - me : gaa-rahge
barely - bare-ah-ley
caramel - me :car-mel
