  • I love sharks! They are so beautiful...I can't understand why anyone would ever want to hurt one. My boyfriend says its because of people who cut off they're fins, and they basically bleed to death. Its just so sad. We as humans have a responsibility to be caretakers of the earth, not destroyers of it.

  • i went to ras mohammed yesterday and theres some divers offering 200LE for every metre of shark net cut

  • sos=save our sharks!!!

  • I do hope so much that I can someday see these animals. They are the only animal as far as I know that refuses to be tamed by man. When in captivity they refuse to eat.

It is one species that will not cave to our demands and that makes it so very powerful in my opinion. It keeps us in check. Remember the oceans do not belong to us. They belong to a creature that was millions of year before our time.

  • if they're so misunderstood, why are you in a cage? get out of that shit and go pet it, see what happens

  • @musicman204

Actually people have you moron and they were fine, the only reason why Sharks eat people is because they are mistaking you as a fish, in fact Sharks don't even like eating Human they rather prefer eating other fishes.

In fact these days there are even more marine Biologists who swim with sharks.

  • @fireyhope

Anyone postulating that a White shark would "mistake" a human for a fish should not be calling other people moronic, so silly and unfounded is your logic.

  • misunderstud people know if your by a great white your probly gonna get your ass eaten

  • Lets kill some shark hunters. (:

Cut off their limbs and throw them in the ocean.

  • I LOVE THESE THINGS !!

  • It's sad to see how scuffed up they are.

  • * Wow * Great upload :)

  • Truly beautiful G.W shark clip 5 strs

  • White sharks are not as "selective" as people trying to inculcate "mistaken identity" theory would have you believe. White sharks are generalist feeders and, no, they would rarely, if ever, mistake a person for a seal. I went to Guadalupe and, no, extinction is not the word I would use to describe their state of affairs. They are protected, beautiful- but spare me the "White sharks are misunderstood" gibberish. One snacked on our family vet in Solana Beach. It knew what it was doing. Eating.

  • I see what you are saying, but there IS proof that they mistakenly feed. And to be honest, when it happens, it is us that are in their environment. And no i am not a hippy :) I eat lots of fish and meat :)

  • Please proffer the prooof that a White shark did not intend the eat a prey item (e.g., humans) that it just took a bite out of and swallowed. If these sharks have always been known to do this, how are they not "man-eaters"? People WANT to believe in "mistaken identity", I understand. Their ecological niche is generalist feeder, realize feeding opportunities as chance appoints and their appetite selects.

  • I went cage diving in these waters off Guadalupe for 5 days.

I had no doubt that these sharks saw me as a prey item. When I deliberately used a metal item to create a sound and vibration, in no less than 2 minutes did TWO different White sharks converge on the cage- right at the sound. If there was no cage, likely no kmkfiction.

I love sharks. Protect them! But snake oil science? No, no, no.

  • @kmkfiction2 GWs actually need a diet high in blubber. Human's aren't really a good choice which is why attacks are rare. If Sharks really wanted to eat humans regularly it would happen all the time. They really prefer seals etc for the high fat content.

  • White sharks receive their dietary intake of blubber from pinnipeds and whale carrion, true. The fact that humans aren't a good choice compared to seals, et al., does not disprove the scientific fact that White sharks will eat humans. By analogy, Petrel birds eat the scraps of White shark seal kills and seem "off the menu" too. But a hungry, migrating White shark will eat them. As for your statistical inference, infrequency of a known phenomena doesn't disprove the known phenomena. Yes or No.

  • I agree, Sharks can and have eaten humans. They are Sharks after all not butterflies. My point remains that Shark attacks on humans are rare and are not worthy of the high attention they receive. Everyday there are millions of people in the ocean, and yet so few attacks. It's no coincidence. Statistically, more people are killed by vending machines then they are sharks. Look it up, then ban vending machines for our safety!

  • Well, you are manipulating the relevant statistics in my view. If 200 Haitian immigrants or 900 US sailors enter the open ocean for several days, what is the percentage that are preyed upon by pelagic sharks? It is much, much higher than death by vending machines, coconut statistics. The relevant statistic is how many people are attacked who come into peripheral contact by the known man-eating species.

  • @kmkfiction2 Hmm, I see your argument but is it entirely relevant? Shouldn't we just look at the standard human/shark interactions? If something/someone is in the open ocean for several days that's edible then perhaps yeah there could be more attacks (it's not proven). However you could say lions would attack you if you held marathons through the serengeti. Mind you, if you sit in the car they ignore you. What say I rest my fingers in a funnel web spiders den. Chance of attack is going to rise.

  • What do you mean it's not relevant, much less proven? 40 people in my former workplace used a vending machine once or twice a day. How many more in the world? Coconut mortality rates are very high in, say, Thailand. It is exceedingly misleading to posit that the risk of shark attacks is comparably low if one is in a position where the shark fulfils its ecological niche, i.e., preying on weak, vulnerable and helpless prey. As for this not being proven, do some research before saying so.

  • On 5/4/07 80 people went missing in the Caribbean. Eye witnesses said sharks were freely dining on the living- not just the dead. Ever heard of the USS Indianapolis? Stories like these go back to the time of Herodotus- and to when "time began" for humans. What the eye witnesses in recent history say is direct, scientific evidence. Putting a wooden dummy in the water around sharks attracted to a chum slick doesn't prove anything other than sharks wont eat a wooden dummy.

  • 2nd thing. I've actually done both. I've been on a hiking tour through the Masai Mara and seen lions from a safari vehicle. We didn't see a lion on the hike but a male lion charged the toyota van we were in. The driver looked at me and said: "lion jump 20 feet...pull u out the car." If a lion were to attack me on the hike, would you posit it thought I was a Kudu? That's how silly mistaken identity is. As for the spider analogy, sharks are nomadic and dont attack out of territorial response.

  • @kmkfiction2 I mean are we talking common sense, or anything goes. Swimming at dusk and dawn, swimming in canals and with dogs etc. There have been a handful of attacks in our waters over the last couple of years here by both Sharks and Crocs and in nearly all cases the victims were typically in a place with heightened risk or doing something they shouldn't. eg, hanging limbs over canoe in croc territory.

  • 3rd point. If we are talking "common sense", then isn't the risk you are referring to is becoming a meal? My issue with statistical analogies is that much, much fewer people are actually around sharks in predation mode. When a White shark is drawn to a cage dive or Bulls/Tigers to a shark dive, it is a conditioned response and the sharks are looking for a free meal. People say "see, those sharks aren't a threat." It isn't the same dynamic as being ambushed by a hungry shark w/ no chum around.

  • The fact that you seem to ignore is that Sharks don't actively seek out humans. If people are around a Shark that's up for a meal and your nearby there's a small chance of attack. The reality is Sharks target specific prey species. They will follow tuna for kilometres, they've been known to actively stalk seals on land. Some Shark behaviourists have even observed them spy hopping. We have very large sharks cruise past our shores every year. Humans are an easy kill, if they wanted to they would.

  • No, they are not species-specific predators. They are generalist feeders that may, as adults, prefer pinnipeds- but they will "actively seek out humans" if their hunger directs and the opportunity presents itself. Youtube search "shark takes woman's leg". That shark intentionally targeted the human and likely would have eaten the rest of her had the other humans not immediately pulled her out. I agree, the chances are rare. But just as sharks will eat petrel birds when very hungry, so too w/ us

  • @kmkfiction2 I have seen the video before( like 10 years ago on 'when animals attack') it was disturbing footage.

I agree with most of what you have to say, bar a few points. Agree to disagree. Thanks for the convo, your'e a rare pearl of wisdom in a sea of douche-bags.

  • Yes the risk is being attacked true, but follow the guidelines and you have almost no problem. It took 3 days before the Sharks attacked the people form the Indianapolis . You throw a weak/injured seal in the water and see how long it lasts...The recorded attacks on people speak for themselves, and yes mistaken identity is on occasional cause for certain. The lion/kudo reference you made is irrelevant as it's a different species. Lions will take any mammal it can tackle.

  • 1st, your statement re the 3 day wait for sharks at the USS Indianapolis is false. 2nd, there is ZERO scientific evidence of mistaken identity. Why you share with everyone what exactly the evidence is and how it is certain. 3rd, the lion/kudu analogy is anything but irrelevant. What, White sharks don't take any mammal, fish, crab, bird, et al. it can tackle? Your posts are wanting in analysis. Explain your why your conclusions are true.

  • @kmkfiction2 There is no real argument here, we both agree Sharks have the potential to eat peopleand have done. Can you please re-clarifty the points your trying to make? Sharks seek out humans intentionally or will go whatever they see if given the chance? I have a question for you, if you believe sharks are happy to take out humans can you tell me why they don't do so more often?

  • Literally beautiful

  • Yep they can stay in the water... ill stay on land.

  • if i see this animal in an aquarium i will literally bow to it

  • simply amazing. i wish i could swim with ze sharks(:

  • Great Whites scare me shitless... but that's why I like them

  • lololl it looks like your moms face

  • Look at those muthas! Damn!

  • I love these creatures. The most feared of them all.

  • I also love them.

  • That damn thing looks like its been in a few fights in its day. Would'nt want to meet that dude in the water.

  • i would shit my balls out my ass if i was taking this video

  • really....

  • Sharks are misunderstood... sort of? We understand there are attacks every year, we understand they can be 20 ft long, we understand they can mistaken humans as their meals, we understand they have endless rows of sharp teeth. Unlike a lot of whales, they're also very aggressive. I'm not sure what we don't understand here. Even if it's not their aim to hurt us, they still do and that still freaks anyone out.

  • sharks are such beautiful and majestic creature,i dun wan them to extinct T^T

  • I love how there's adults who think they're smarter than kids these days. I don't even try to use correct grammar or spelling and it's just natural for me to hit the shift key, or to use a bit of punctuation. Though, my finger is glued to the backspace key. That's more because my fingers are fat than anything. Also, I might refer you to go watch "We Didn't Start the Flame War"; it might enlighten you on this topic of bashing each other.

  • i love eating shark :)

  • and dis is why we black folks dont swim

  • you dont swim cause you cant =)

  • why dont you swim in a pool? O.o

  • swimmin in tha pool is aight, but ever since dat movie Jaws came out, it jus f--ked up our heads dont matta what kind of water we talkin bout

  • Hey, it's ok for blacks to go in the sea... Sharks will think you're whale shit and stay away from you......

  • Hahaha. You know a lot about whale shit, don't you? It must be because you have whale shit for brains.

  • DRbox360 I'm black and i've snorkled in the carribean, puerto Rico, and hawaii shit is hella fun. To make that same trite comment about black people not swimming is totally mindless. Try swimming in the carribian. It's dope as hell. Crystal clear water with all kinds of colorful fish, eals, jelly fish , turtles, dolphins. You should try it brotha. Peace.

  • Speak for yourself.

  • Wow you have got to be one of the biggest dipshits ive saw here on youtube... To me its kind of funny they way your trying to make yourself come off smart when your making numerous spelling errors. Please let the adults speaks, children shall be seen not heard on this conversation.

  • Yes because children don't seem to matter to you do they? I am just saying, if you don't have anything other than spelling error insults to throw at people that's pretty pathetic.

  • listen you dumb fucking idiot you misspelled more words than anyone else on this page so shut the fuck up and besides your the one who clicked the video to watch it dumb ass

  • you're an idiot, you have numerous amounts of grammatical erors. please let me correct you....wow (comma) you have.. it's (you're) not your... dipshits (i've) SEEN not saw. if your going to correct someone, try not be be an idiot and make even more grammatical errors then the person you're correcting lol.

  • Who the fuck cares about spelling and grammar? Call him out on the content of his post, not on his typing skills.

  • Dude, follow your own advice. Or maybe you´re a child.

    lol...

  • Hey dude! I'm a child except I'm not like 5 or something okay? But I like Great White Sharks and I don't want them to be extinct.

Why don't you let children talk too fag? And you made mistakes too so don't open your mouth.
