Lubricating it from the inside means the lube works its way through the chain when it spins. Spraying it on the outside like you are means it all gets flung off on your first ride.... Spray the inside of the chain in front of the rear sprocket and you'll be fine - JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE A FINGER!!! Personally, I spin the wheel by hand - it's safer.
How to lose a finger in 10 seconds! Lol no bashing though. everybody is entitled to do what they want. if they choose to follow your advice and lose a finger... then oh well. I'd personally refrain from such a practice.
Woowww... That's the worst way to lube a chain!!! Not only do you not lube it while the engine is running and in gear, but furthermore, you're supposed to lube it from the inside. Well, at least in America, that's how it's supposed to be done. I thought this fool knew what he was doing because of how the video started with his prompt on the screen, but this was totally wrong. Hope you're not a car mechanic, too!!! LOL...
Lube the chain from the inside on a motorcycle. That way, centrifugal force allows it to PROPERLY lubricate the pins, bushings, and o-rings. Also, ditch the "wax" products. Many of the paraffin based lubes melt at around 250-300 degrees, and when you're running your bike hard, your chain exceeds those temperatures, thus you're running with no lube at all. Get some Motul, Einszett, or Wurth.
If you're stupid and not careful of course you'll lose a finger. It's not moving fast enough that your reactions won't tell you to let go of whatever you were using to lube the chain and save your finger. To all you butthurt safety guys. M3anMachin3, does this actually properly lube your chain sufficiently though? I' m new to bike maintenance and my chain is making a clinking noise haha
Lube should be lubed from the inside!!!! Best invest in rear paddock stand and spray from the inside when in first gear . SO you don't risk loosing a finger.
Never.. NEVER!!! Lube chains with gear on!!! Unless you have too many fingers extra fingers that you dont need. If by a chance chain will catch plastic straw it will pull in your hand in and you can kiss you fingertips good bye
@ibiketowork So, my viewer, you're some kind of sheppard leading the flock avoiding YouTube perils?
will you advise other biker youtubers doing "how to make wheelies" and "overtaking on blind corners" videos to take theirs down?
Anyway, thx for your comment, was meaningless and abusive, but not disrespectful. Noted. Don't let me stop you from trolling other humorous pseudo-tutorial videos, Carry on.
@ibiketowork This hardly is worth my time but here goes some advice to you:
first: please take you time to read video descriptions and other comments: can save you some embarrassment.
second: you do the world a favor and ASK (to who made the video) (1)- why, in a 10-second humoring video, he didn't clean up the chain. (2)- why first question is answered and explained in video description AND on comments
third: by commenting you had the right to your opinion, NOT telling me what to do.
Smart idea... Only bad part was lubing outer of chain not the inside... Spray lube at bottom of chain on the inside... Inside meaning the part of chain that the gear teeth bite... Otherwise if it's on the out side it has tendency to just fling off because centrifugal force
@apex0825 did this vid because I saw over-complicated videos explaining how to lube the chain. This method is used by lots of people, and if people are dumb the shoud keep away from a bike anyway. A 10-sec lube is not 100% effective but so is a 5-minute bike wash :) . Is it the best method? No, but cleans enough when done often. Thx for commenting, it's a valid point! :)
this is actually quite dangerous for 2 reasons and it doesn't actually work very well.
dangerous b/c: 1. ppl are stupid and will probably get their clothes/fingers or something caught in the chain and some really bad consequences and
2. because the way you have demonstrated spraying the chain at the nearing the end of your 10sec's you're getting after spray on your tires. so lube on tires = less traction/slippery tires = crash

@kurshiukas yes, can be dangerous to your phisican integrity, but so is watching the Jersey Shore show.
Oh and riding bikes without any gear, too.

You shouldn't do such a video tutorial...
Just because pretty ignorant boys would lube it like you said...

Spraying lube onto your back tire is a bad idea. Lube should be applied half way between the front and back sprocket on the inside of the chain.

and also it doesn't work very well because you're not getting sufficient lube on all of the chain links b/c the tire is rotating so fast.

careful not to tumble it while lubricating or the bike will fly off :)

Nice... Just make sure to keep keep the fingers out of the chain. :^)

right! and your weight off the back seat because if that back wheel touches the floor the bike will
1:stall
2: fly off
most bikers would prefer a frew trims off the fingers rather than off the bike :)
