Hardcore freestyle usually requires a freestyle board, on the other hand look at Tim Byrne or Hans Smit who skate street decks.

you can already do the tricks easy enough. you would improve alot of things if you centered your body. look at yoga when they are standing in their first position. think of a horizontal plane. everything works better and smoother when you stay more on that plane keeping your hips and shoulders on the horizontal plane rather than pointing your upper body down at the ground. this is just the mechanics that i've learned from multiple things. ballet, figure skating, skateboarding. remember infiniti!

They're called Skid Plates. They aren't foam, they're a hard... ummm... material. The skids protect the nose and tail of the board because pogos and NH 50/50's (truckstands) destroy boards.
