  • thumbs up if you thought this was originally sons of admirals song (charlieissocoollike) or am i the only one? -_-

  • Sometimes it's good when a group doesn't take themselves so damn seriously. This is one of those cases. "Fuck this bummer song! Let's yuck it up! She's Sammy butt ugly and stupid anyway!"

  • Same here. Born in '58 also. I just love this music.

  • Thanks for Sharing Geraldine! Wow! such a long time ago… <3 xo

  • Right! That music cant be beaten ever.

  • Man, that whisling while trying not to laugh had to painful!!!!!!

  • Their harmony was top notch.

  • Another cool drum riff!

  • HAPPY!!!!!!

  • WOW!!! The Tremeloes KICK ASS in this LIVE cover of a Cat Stevens original AND they take a sad song and make it BETTER by not curbing their enthusiasm one bit!!. Decca records signed the Tremeloes & NOT the Silver Beatles in 1962 but sadly, the Beatles had very few of their originals to audition with back then and had to rely on covers of others hit songs.. (I still think that the guitarist & bass player that are lead singing on "Here comes my baby" look a lot like George Bush & Bobby Sherman!)

  • eine FREID hod der Mo :O))

  • I am 100% 80s. but i love you guys

  • this is a great band with one great drummer doing a great song

  • Thanks for posting this video. Good catch to Tantalus52 who caught that it's a Cat Stevens composition, even though he never released it as a single, nor compteted with the Tremeloes hit version. It's refreshing to see live TV or concert performances before the MTV-era. So many US performances were lip synced because of standard record industry politics and TV producers wanted the "hit" sound on the air.

  • OMG..this is a "live" performance! They are having so much fun &

check out their Teeth......straight ...their lips, nice, very nice!!

Loved them then, still do now.

  • Best song ever

  • The Mavericks did a great job covering this song.

  • These were indeed good times to enjoy peaceful rock with love themes. What happened to that music? I do miss that time period greatly.

  • These are indeed good times to be enjoying rock. Great music full of love and peace. What happened to that time?

  • HEY!.. Am I crazy?? Thumbs up if you think that the lead singer/guitarist looks EXACTLY like a younger version of George W. Bush.

  • @TheShitsinger Intelligent and not a war criminal....only differences.

  • This song exemplifies the fun of being in a band.

    Hey !

  • @drrjim

That is very profound. Nothing is more pleasing to a performance artist than to take as much as you give.

  • 1967 the summer of love, walking alone in the midnight moonlight hour, laughing at the pain of the love that is "never to be mine, no matter how I try".. It's all about letting go, accepting what is, and even CELEBRATING it.- Hey-hey-hey- You've got to laugh at love or go insane, then you'll never walk alone!

  • The more impressive thing is that this is live!!

  • When the right sound (tune) and song comes together it feel GREAT! The sound of the 60's developed that creativity with GREAT young musicians of the time and raw talent. We did it, again, MISSIOM ACCOMPLISHED!

  • All the more reason that life needs a rewind button!!!

  • really well i have a tape of the tremelos featuring manfred mann where they also sing doo wa diddy diddy. How interesting.

  • @suzigar VERY interesting. Hang on to that tape,it could make you a millionaire. Mind you,it doesn't hold a candle to the video I've got featuring the Loch Ness Monster duetting with Diana Ross. It makes you wonder what other treasures people may have stowed away in their attics.

  • Well arent they a happily frisky bunch? Great song though.

  • gut

  • I thought Cat Stevens was the first to sing this song?? I think he wrote it too.

  • @laminggirl He sure did write it!

  • @laminggirl - Pure Cat. :)

  • @laminggirl Great times covers didn`t seem a problem-less lawyers ?

  • I always used to sing along with this. I miss those times soooo much. Come on! Sing along everybody!

  • In the midnight moonlight hour

I'll be walking a long and lonely mile

    And every time I do

I keep seeing a picture of you.

    That's very beautiful and poetic.

  • Weerrrhehhhhh!!! He thinks hes Eric Morecambe.

  • cat stevens

  • I really like this track. It´s a kind of raw and honest rock music from the 60s. My hobby is to rediscover all those great bands from that period that didn´t "reach the highest level" - in contrast to this band. It´s a fantastic musical treasure. Listen (youtube) fro example to:

THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah".

Really f....g great with a bloody driving beat.

THE GOLLIWOGS and the tune "Tell me". Check up the singer...yes, it´s him!!

  • Amen to the comment before nine

  • You just can't beat music from the 60's

  • whos the guy at 0:30 ? he creeps me out

  • ach ja das waren zeiten haben im vwbus gevögelt gesoffen und tütchen geraucht bin heute 62 und stink normal war eine geile zeit

  • Hey!

  • I can just imagine that these guys were some really partying dudes in their off hours!

  • Those were the "Good Old Days" !! I love my memories !! HaHa....I EVEN HAVE MY FIRST CAR.....A 1962 CHEVY SS CONVERTIBLE !! I EVEN MARRIED MY GIRLFRIEND !! After 44 YEARS, I GUESS I'M NOT GUNNA CHANGE !!

    WHEN "YOU'VE GOT A WINNER, STICK WITH IT" !!! "T.J." 11/16/11

  • this is originall song charlie mc donnel ya ??

  • I always hear people say "Why can't music be this good these days?" or "you won't find music this good these days!". You can, you just have to look under the radar. With the internet, there are actually lots of choices.

  • dear lord please send me back in time and land in 1967!!!!!!!

  • @tbibmarnie

I think about 90% of us in our 50s would do so.

  • @tbibmarnie Join the queue :-)

  • @tbibmarnie Me too, I'd have changed my college major, made more money, but kept my rock and roll soul. Jeez, those were good times.

  • @tbibmarnie my sentiments exactly, I was born in 1958 but was just too young be part of the swinging 60's. I love this music and wish I was back there.

  • Whooooooo tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio

  • Absolute insanity from my youth. World class.!!!!!!!

  • I'd bet my house that they all burned one before this gig.

  • cool drumming rythm

  • @Ewilkinson97x is it right that he didn't say that it was a cover? He probs should have made it clear.

  • @sdsheep195 i just looked on the video now and charlie doesn't mention it but i probably should have checked the description box first :p

  • GREAT band!! Always loved this song, I had forgotten all about it, so thanks!!:)

  • Hey!

  • @TheVideoBarron Happy group, aren't they?

    :) Lifts my spirits

  • PS> I like Temoles version better. Much more energy.

  • You know, laying in bed, sucking down a couple of chardoonays and hearing this song in my head and I think :Christ, this song sounds like Cat Stevens (Yusuf). So I popped out of bed and ran to Youtube and damned if Cat Sevens didn't write it. er....Yusuf. I'll be damned.

  • @Tantalus52 Possibly the only good thing that Cat ever wrote!!

  • Are you fucking serious? Cat wrote so many good songs that with my remaining 423 characters, i couldn't list a quarter of them.

  • @mungous1000 Depends on you define 'good' but Tea For The Tillerman just doesn't do it for me nor the lame cover of the great Sam Cooke's Another Saturday Night.

  • Anyone here a Beatles fan? Well if you are did you notice the riff from "I Feel Fine" at 0:30. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @pro7ism No, you're right! Never would have noticed that before. Nice catch!

  • @pro7ism No, its not. Its just a D chord with Dsus4 and Dsus2 thrown in, as opposed to a full riff.

  • Where are these guys now?

  • I got Hatched to This Song :) QC

  • @Kimberliss42, I wish I knew. I've asked myself the same question :)

  • Wow..When music was about true talent and having fun.. What the heck happened??

  • This video cracks me up. These guys are having a blast on stage, while the audience stumbles around in a daze.

  • Real human SMILE, voice and music. Were is it now?

  • Loved it in 67, and still do.

  • They yell "Hey!" a bunch in the studio version too. It's a wonder they ever calmed down enough to record "Silence is Golden."

  • I didn't remember them yelling that much!

  • Great handmade music, still nice to hear after more than 40 years.

  • Great song!

  • Pure classic pop. Unforgettable. And fun.

  • I wonder why this song did not make it to becaome a top chart hit in the USA. Apart from the Beatles and th Stone, the majority of early 60s British beat did not make it in the US. On the other side, Eddie Cochran was hugely popular in the UK during the early 60s.

  • WE HAAAAY WE HAAAAAY HAY! HAY! HAY! HAAAAAY! WE HAAAAAAAY!

    GAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

  • If you think of it.......this is the type of song that could have been an early lennon and mccartney hit....it has that sound......picture this song sung by 1965'ish beatles

  • @inkey2 your right I like it

  • hte original version of cat stevens is sooooooooo better

  • whats cool about white dudes is we are into havin fun while the rest of the world is crying about their problems . thats why God takes care of us cause he prefers being happy to sad and can relate to us better.

  • It's 97 degrees in L.A. today, but that was cool...

  • god i feel like this sucks...

  • HEY!

  • I came here because I'm just OLD. I have no other excuse.

  • @gotch09 i think your 20 years old or 30

  • @MissWondieFever I'll be the big 61 in October. But I appreciate the complement.

  • @MissWondieFever .....remember 60 is the new 40.......and 30 is the new 10

  • Decca Records turned down The Beatles audition and signed these guys up instead. Oops. This is a good song though. Nice video.

  • @fbeatleboppinjohn It's all part of pop history now, but the Beatles let themselves down badly at their audition largely due to their choice of songs. Brian Poole and the Tremeloes were a more than capable outfit that went on to have a lot of success. They auditioned well and were given the nod over the Beatles. Dick Rowe did want to sign the Beatles as well but was only allowed to sign one band. Brian Epstein subsequently approached Tony Meehan at Decca who also turned them down.

  • Daughter (only child) went off to college today - needed to smile through the tears.

  • Gibson eb 2 bass tone!

  • well... that was a bit diffrent to sons of admirals

  • Tremeloes are the Kinks

  • @starlost1957 kinks x

  • Great song... Always loved it. Great to see it performed live!

  • song composed by cat stevens

  • HEY!!!!!! It's George W. Bush on lead vocals

  • I never knew that Charlie covered this, it's soo disapointing why can't someone nowadays write there own so gs for a change

  • Love this such a feel good happy song <3

  • i remember this at top rank in watford in the sixties with my sexy woman

  • Great song by a great group!

  • holy carp i ceep singing a song from 1967!

  • Anyone who's frowning after watching this video...I'm truly sorry for you...

  • These guys are awesome to watch, they are having so much fun performing. The lead singer only broke his smile once, when he let the other singer take the stage with his whistling. That guy's facial expression could move the whole world.

  • Everyone whistle.

  • @philipm06 I am it good yeh:)))

  • songs you can sing along to and singers smiling who knew?

  • When being in a rock n' roll band was more about having fun and meeting girls than being a bad ass, scarey tatooed WWF type dude.

  • When music was fun ! Great video !

  • Superb live track. Well sung, well played. Great party fun song,

  • i love this song but its lyric nothing to do with fun

  • I absolutely love this live version- it sounds like a total party going on. This song always makes me feel happy, kind of like when I wa syounger- much younger listening to music during my high school years. Thanks for posting this and I hope anybody who graduated from Overlea High in MD. hears this and enjoys it as much as I do!

  • Yeah, 427s or 426 hemis ruled. No problem with PD. Beer was legal for 18 year olds. Gas was only 33 cents per gallon for 106 octane. McDonalds were 15 cents and milk shakes 25 cents and fries 10 cents. Were we the last generation to have fun?

  • from my childhood...echoes

  • ISTENI JÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓÓ!

  • Esto no se repite mas!!!!!! Excelentes!!!

  • Now,this is the Hit version of the Cat Stevens' Song I remember!

  • @m1kewithaone

Nothing wrong with all that infectious clapping, whistling and grinning - I loved it then and I still love it now. Just wondered if they ever listened to the words.

  • Did The Tremeloes not realise that this is a really SAD song?

  • @45vintage you're right, so what's up with this??

  • @45vintage you're right, they r just laughing here 'cause someone on stage cut one.... :)

  • I'm loving this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good song, good memories!

  • WOW... for punks like me who grew up AFTER these bands came out with their incredible music, it's a real treat to see live videos like this...

  • The incoherant 'whaheying' reminds me of Alex DeLarge...I do love this song though

  • Cool ..remember this very well !!1

    Class of 69'

  • That Kim really grew up, huh?

  • Live performances are such a let down today. Nice. Now see, if da board members wood mak yur teachers talk like music robots, dem kids would listen today. Obviously you don't know what I'm talking about. That's so RAVEN :)

  • sorry this song precedes 8 track by 1 1/2 yrs--good song, but why were they always yelling 'hey'

  • Here Comes My Baby......... also known as Hey !!

  • My late aunt (Constance Bayliss) made their stage clothes. She also made stage gear for the Who and Dave Dee. :-)

  • @FaerieCrone My respect to your aunt for doing such a fine job,and I'm sure a very enjoyable and rewarding one! Those were the days. The MOD LOOK !

  • I had a long night ahead of me coach driving following a long day at an outdoor venue driving the performers to and fro. The evening was a 60s night (when they were first becoming popular). We drivers had an hour off and decided to go see the bands. This was playing as we walked to the front. Fab stuff - tiredness and inhibitions (we were in uniform!) dissolved as we bopped for an hour. Lovely memories of then and the original time it came out when I was a kid. Great.

  • @ummerrahh

The amplifiers they used were called ECHOLETTE, produced in germany.

  • What kind of amplifiers are those?

  • @ummerrahh Probably valve amps I should have thought, going by that era wasn't any circuit amps around in those days.

They create such a fuller kind of sound though which is good, but the valves that did the actual amplification have always had a tendency to blow, so they always need allot of maintenance, but the circuit amps dont, Marshall have FDD (frequencey dependant damping), which mimics a valve amp.

  • the mavericks sing it better

  • I wonder if Cat Stevens is still singing this song when he walks down the street :)

  • @FunkyBlueEyedSoulGuy

No, he's now bowing five times a day facing Mecca! I met him several times in Toronto when I worked for WEA Records (not his label). He's a great guy, What a shame.

  • The Jags did a really good remake of this song in the late 1970s.

  • actually the best remake is from the mavricks and is probally better than the original version

  • This thoroughly Rocks !! Music can't get much better than this !!

  • Bizarre that they would be so fucking happy singing this....it's not a fun song....it's a sad song about losing your true love to another, then seeing them walking along the street...it's about pain....with a catchy tune...

  • @nicodagger You Brain is death

  • @nicodagger I totally agree with you! I feel bad for smiling and having fun as I listen to it due to the lyrics. I think of it as them making the best of a bad situation, in turn making us feel good as we listen to it if we too happen to be in that same situation.

  • The lead singer resembles Trapper from M*A*S*H!

  • good song : )

  • Hey!

  • sons of admirals is better! Even though it is a remake.

  • thumbs up if u came here after watching the sons of admirals version of here comes my baby xP

  • @vivaciousjazzy15 OMG these guys look old way back then, wonder what they look like now Did they ever do reunion tourer? Great tune

  • @vivaciousjazzy15 btw they sing it better than these guys

  • Guys you can find this lifestyle now too..

  • The words are sad However the guys play w/ fun which carryovers to listeners. here is the lesson..make something sad fun for cry you cry alone, laugh and the world laughs w/ you

  • Great Band, great sound, great period in musical history.

Where did it all turn to crap?...

  • @geoffdoor You were born? With your misinformed attitude I thought you were spawned!

  • @simnebrael OOOOOOH look at me saying spawn aren't i dead clever ...

  • @geoffdoor Obviously!

  • What a great song performed by another great band from England. They're like the Beatles; guitars and drum putting out a great sound with no electronic bullshit massaging it into something it's not. Great post! Thank you!

  • I miss this so much..energy, enthusiasm, optimism...3 guys playing, singing, and obviously enjoying themselves. What happened?
