It's helpful to see old clips in color, even if not exact. I remember, when I was a young child thinking that people actually lived in black and white in the 20s/30s, because of the excess of old movies I had watched! We are not that much different: perhaps a little less stylish.
@gayforlife2020 I find the rare Technicolor dyes of the era exciting mind candy and much more true to life or life as we hoped then the big one that got away stories we depend on in print.
Must have been a nice time to live in the neighborhoods near what used to be the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Blvd. It breaks my heart to see old houses and historical buildings in such bad shape with worthless people. These were the true golden days to live in sunkist California.
Interesting to see scenes of this vintage in color. In the imagination of a nostalgist, the world was in black and white then. I suppose the movies do this to us. Seeing the world of the '30s in color makes it seem less an imaginary confection, and more real.
@skot66 I knew what you meant. Actually you are jogging my memory for there is or was a copy of this on YouTube from the DVD. I had an argument about the terrible color boost put in the DVD edition as opposed to film. Just can't remember the DVD it came from - I think it looks terrible and looses the Technicolor feel.
great quality

No, SERIOUSLY- that guy at 4:05 looks somehow like BOTH Ruby and Oswald.
My God, he shot himself! Sounds like something my old man would do!

Doesn't that guy on the right at "hope you'll recognize" look like Lee Harvey Oswald AND Jack Ruby, both? Weird!
