  • great quality

  • It's helpful to see old clips in color, even if not exact. I remember, when I was a young child thinking that people actually lived in black and white in the 20s/30s, because of the excess of old movies I had watched! We are not that much different: perhaps a little less stylish.

  • @gayforlife2020 I find the rare Technicolor dyes of the era exciting mind candy and much more true to life or life as we hoped then the big one that got away stories we depend on in print.

  • man.... kudos to the old guy doing the for-flip at 7:28... thats so dangerous on a hard floor and the way he landed and at his age........

  • Es gab auch mal ein Amerika ohne Silikonbusen-Weiber...

  • Must have been a nice time to live in the neighborhoods near what used to be the Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Blvd. It breaks my heart to see old houses and historical buildings in such bad shape with worthless people. These were the true golden days to live in sunkist California.

  • No, SERIOUSLY- that guy at 4:05 looks somehow like BOTH Ruby and Oswald.

My God, he shot himself! Sounds like something my old man would do!

  • Doesn't that guy on the right at "hope you'll recognize" look like Lee Harvey Oswald AND Jack Ruby, both? Weird!

  • @harponercam Did you see Sirhan Sirhan @ 4:26 (far right), he was a truppet player in those days at the Ambassador...

  • @Heartbreakin trumpet player that is ....

  • Interesting to see scenes of this vintage in color. In the imagination of a nostalgist, the world was in black and white then. I suppose the movies do this to us. Seeing the world of the '30s in color makes it seem less an imaginary confection, and more real.

  • Thank you Anna May for uploading these!

  • Very ahead of its time, of course

  • 1935? This looks kinda a 60s TV show

  • What MGM DVD set is this from..I can't remember. Anyone?

  • @skot66 This upload was not from a DVD but it may be out there

  • @AnnaMayWongSociety I meant they put this film on an MGM dvd set. Trying to remember which one.

  • @skot66 I knew what you meant. Actually you are jogging my memory for there is or was a copy of this on YouTube from the DVD. I had an argument about the terrible color boost put in the DVD edition as opposed to film. Just can't remember the DVD it came from - I think it looks terrible and looses the Technicolor feel.

  • Is that Ben Turpin?

  • The Chorus girls (4.20-4.40)...The girl on the right is Mary Lange (1913-1973)...The 2nd from right in the red shirt is Bonnie Bannon (1913-1989)

  • When I die ..this is what heaven will be.

  • Yes! And we'll all be effortlessly glamorous, gorgeous, witty and charming, 24/7. That'll be heavenly, skot66.

Who is the funny blonde in the trio at 6:01?

  • I wish I knew who the blonde was in the trio.

  • Just one of the myriad nameless talented people in Hollywood who's big break never came. She's great!

  • Yes, every day like a day at the lido.

  • Very awesome!!! Thanks for posting!

  • What happened to "be angry"?
