  • Well I have a six year old and she thought that was KOOL!

  • Oh I love the "oil effect"... Its beautiful.

In France usually the only "magic recipe" used for paint easter eggs is "browning" the shell with onion.

Sadly we don't have all the stuff you can found in craft shop because isn't traditional to decorate as in Hungary i.e.

    Thx for the tip ! ^ ^

  • Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter

  • the green is a poopy color

  • I have chickens that lay red, green, and blue eggs, who needs natural dye?

  • You could also use different flavored tea bags, (Like, Blueberry tea would be a light purple, normal tea would be brown, ect)

  • He's Cute =)

  • what do you do with the easter eggs on easter? i know you hide them and everyone searches for them, but once they are found then what? and seriously why must you ruin easter with those hideous eggs ?! >:( eggs should be bright and colorful, those look really ugly.

  • @crazitaco Duh! You eat them!

  • @Noober19 nuh uhh we smash them on each others heads, cause we make cascarones. they are way more fun than those ugly eggs that look like freshly scented poopie. i wouldnt eat anything that color.

actually i wouldnt eat eggs off the floor at all, thats just nasty. im suprised more people dont get sick from eating eggs that were probably kicked around in the dirt by some little kid.

  • @crazitaco poopie?! XDD lol then the little kids eat poopies! we put them in clean plastic things. but yeah, i dont eat them. nasty

now i wanna chuck eggs at people!

  • heyy It is me again could you pleaseeee answer!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi i was wondering the purpose of adding alum powder and white vinegaer to the solution, does it change the outcome

  • @giulia123cute why the fuck would u ask that.... ITS WHATS NEEDED

  • Or you can make life easier and just use fucking food coloring, vinigar and water... jesus christ man, people always want to make shit harder just to be fuckin organic... who the fuck cares its dying easter eggs not fucking launching a goddamn missle.

  • what is alum powder plz tell me

  • wicked

  • This guy looks really baked, but he makes some really cool eggs.

  • i should try dis

  • woh men is so good! magic!

  • It lets kids see where colors came from originally. With supervision this is a great teaching method.

  • the red cabbage smells super bad when its boiling :/

  • we hat you

  • oh wow that's soo cool i never knew you can dye like that that's sooo cool i learn something new today lol

  • ya i did 2! really cool... but im not dieing eggs this year i dont think... well accutally i dk! ha ah! lol

  • electrical tape is a bad idea its toxic!!!

even warns you right on the package

    "wash hands after useing"!!

and please make sure the wax is bees wax

parafin wax is a petro-cemical and is probably as bad as the cemicals your trying to avoid!!

  • Damn! you are hot!!

  • ''hey im chris and im high as a kite''

  • lol tell me abou tit

  • It's no fun to put them directly into the pot though for kids... can you pour the mix into cups when it cools and then dye them?

  • @MouseOV

Thank you! Of course this is no fun. I believe the heat is essential to make the colors vivid. There's a reason we buy egg dye - it does the trick!

I don't know though how big a problem regular egg dye is to the planet.

I vote to scrap this idea.

    It's no fun,

    the result is sad looking,

it's expensive (you could buy all the colors for the price of the cabbage)

and most of all, I'm betting this actually is WORSE for your carbon footprint. You have to boil eggs for EACH COLOR.

  • if you heat cold red cabbage dye i'll turn reddish or pinkish :P I did that XD

  • I'll make sure i die happy =D

    Cool vid!

  • This is soo cool! I love the zebra stripe one its my fav

  • this is also very useful to dye your rice for a more colorful meal. ;)

  • = ) nice ...

  • looks like too much work

  • ya i dont want to wait 30 mins just to make 1 color o wait i ment an hour.....just ot make 3 eggs purple?

  • The Easyest One To Do is use Fod colouring but it takes ages and comes off.

  • that is pretty cool

  • thanks for the tips and nice video

  • sweet buddy - nice to know how to make natural dyes

  • verrrry niiice

  • Not As Purtyyyy :/

But the Stripes were Cool ^^

    Very Creative.

  • I'll have to try that next Easter! Cool!

  • nope =D

  • kool

  • yo nice vid and the eggs look a lot color too i have to try this with my younger brother and sister

  • my grandma always tied cabbage, beet or onion skins around the egg and the boiled them. they pretty much look like the ones in the video but only took a half hour tops

  • yes allum? we dont use these/this? (so i guess you dont need?)

fruits and veg's have natural dye qualites?

    thanks for sharing

  • i don't wanna dye. xD

  • happy dying xD

  • I just don't get why alumn powder is needed, If you put onion skun to wather it will dye eggs even without it. It is common knowledge here in central Europe.

  • awsome

  • To get the alum, all you have to do is the following: sand ~1.20 g Al (get from soda can, etc)and in a 250 ml flask, add 50 ml 1.5M KOH. place flask on hot plate, swirl + heat for 20 min. Cool mixture, then add 6M H2SO4 (30ml), heat to 100C for 10 min, filter the hot solution via gravity filtration into a 250 ml beaker. Add 10 ml ethanol, & cool beaker in ice bath (30 min). Vacuum filter the suspension using a Buchner funnel, and wash with 20 ml of ethanol + H20. Let dry til next week =).

  • @fooGrap - If I had to do all of that, I'd jump out the nearest window. Reminds me of chemistry class as a kid. Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!

  • This is.... strange. It seems time consuming, but good idea.

  • to do. so ultimately, i would say that this is an excellent easter craft for adults, but not for kids. & i would strongly reccommend NOT using spinach or red cabbage as an easter egg dye. find urselves some different fruits & veggies, folks. so there's my update. i hope u all find it useful.

  • ok, so i said i'd update u, so here goes: we used frozen spinach, canned beets, red cabbage, & curry powder to color our eggs. the red cabbage & spinach absolutely sucked. they didn't do anything to our eggs & we actually ended up having to use food coloring anyway to create any kind of effect on them. the curry powder & beets, however worked wonders on them, creating gorgeous golden yellows & light pinks. my 8 yr old nephew & 4 yr old cousin became bored quicky, though as this took a long time

  • i used spinach and red cabbage to dye my eggs and they worked great!

but the cabbage actueally made a light bluish color.

    ??

  • This is great. Can you possibly make these colors and store them for a period of time?

  • cool..

  • where can you get alum powder? or whatever you used

  • At the grocery store where they have the spices. Its pretty cheap.

  • The easiest way to create designs on the eggs is to just draw on them with a white crayon. :)

The wax of the crayon will stick to the egg, but not melt off in the dye, and it blocks the color from staining the shell. Because the wax is white, it's more or less "clear" because it looks like the egg's shell. Way easier than messing with tape or melting wax . . .

  • The use of alum powder can be harmful! Don't inhale or swallow it.

  • So thankful for this one! :oD

  • i'm going to give this a try this year. i'll let u all know how it turns out.

  • I think I can finally dye happy.

    @.@

not dying, but dying... erm yeah... i know what i mean.

  • When I was done making the naturally dyed easter eggs I realized I was vegetarian...so I force fed them to my neighbors in a fit of hippy rage.

  • HAHAHAH! Happy dying. :D

  • Except for not using Zinc Starate, Silicon Dioxide, and Red Dye #2, I followed your recipe exactly, and made great eggs for EASTER, CURBLY!!!! Thanks!

  • rofl

  • a lot of farms dont have roosters in them

usually turkey eggs are fertilised though (experience, ugh)

  • i wasn't talking about fertilised eggs, I was talking about what it would look like to the chickens. It would be like someone eating a lifelike fetus cake.

  • Allum? Yikes! Won't that kill you, or at least make you very sick if you eat the eggs after that?

  • Naah, I've already tried these and guess what... I'm still alive. :D

  • I HATE IT! Just kidding!

  • help I need a head of red cabbage....this is pretty kewl

  • help I need a head of red cabbage....this is pretty kewl

  • happy dying!

  • WE DID THIS FOR EASTER LOL

  • nice instructions dude, cool eggs

  • The stripes were very cool! lol. "Happy dyeing. Did I just say happy dying?" QUESTION: What would happen if you mixed the beets and red cabbage? Would you get purple or a big sloppy mess? Also, are there any other kinds of tape you could use? What would happen if you used a white wax crayon and picked it off?

  • Brilliant stuff - I will get my kids to try it next year, well done! Take no notice of the kids below, they just want 'air space' to float in ;)

  • Very cool

  • jehovah witnesses are worse

  • Very true >_>

  • that is really cool! ill be sure to try that on Easter next year, thanks for posting!

  • come to see my stuff it cooooooooool

  • ???????????????????what there is an extra minute at the end that is just black

  • gfuoirjugi45ue8o

  • Is this a crazy liberal attempt at keeping shit green?

    Fucking communist Marxist retards.

  • lol if you are joking then thats hilarious, if not....uh calm down

  • nice '' happy dying'' :P

  • That's just cool. Much better color than the packaged stuff.

  • sombody is jelous :0.

  • before you boil the eggs, pierce each end with a thumb tack. With the egg over the bowl, place your mouth over one of the holes and blow gently. The egg yolk and whites should come out the other end.

  • Does anyone know how to get the egg out without breaking the shell?

  • First you poke holes in both ends of the egg with a needle, making sure you break the yolk inside too. Then you blow it out into the sink. You have to blow pretty hard, but it should all come out. I've done this and then colored the eggs that I can save from year to year.

  • Yes. Take a needle and poke holes in both ends of the egg. Take a very thin tube and insert it into one of the holes. Blow through the tube, and the contents of the egg will come out the other end. My mother used to do this and make beautiful paintings on the "blown eggs."

  • coolio guess i'll give it a try next easter

  • Subcribe to NearfieldSudios12!!!

New video comming up around April!

Watch my jousting video part 2!!!

  • I liked the stripes, really cool! xD

  • Better get started right away, so these eggs are done before next easter.

  • wow dude, you sure do have a life!! lol seriousley don't get so upset because someone decided 2 do something cool using all natural stuff...no reason to flip out over eggs :P

  • haha no way im taking over an hour to dye 4 eggs

  • once we did that and i was like "oooh carrot juice!!"

but i forgot that there was vinigar in it and i almost barfed ahah.

  • iiyiiii

  • interesting...

  • i was lucky for a while, my eggs were bout as naturaly dyed as they could get, they came out the chicken colored, they were blue green red yellow. its a type of chicken that lays them like that, nicknamed easter egg chickens, i cant member how to spell their actual names though

  • lol! "happy dying!" lol!!!

  • You know, that is crazy. I never thought that you can actually do that. That, and the eggs are very pretty.

    Neat video. =]

  • easy =)

  • AWESOME! WILL DO!

  • movies. watch in my playlist!!

    cheers

  • umm i think ill use the dye that comes with,

  • Meh, I probably wouldn't eat mine so I'd just use ordinary dye. The patterns look good though.

  • Colorful AND edible...makes me happy =P

  • to much work for freaking eggs

  • seriously

  • My mother does that every year and it turns out really beautiful. Sometimes, she puts leaves and makes patterns.

    And it's...natural.

  • thats cool and they look really amazing

  • cool ima try that

  • interesting, good to know, and doesn't that guy look high? *L* still interesting way to do easter eggs. or could do it how my mum did. 1 cup of hot water w/ 1 Tbsp vinegar and any number of drops o food dye per color you want. simple. but the cooking oil & electrical tape trick i plan to use next year.

  • Dude that's so awesome! I'm going try it. We're having late easter! yay!

  • taht is sooooooooooooooo cool

im soo gonna try it next easter

  • Nice colors i like it, but it's gonna be horrible when you break em', i wouldn't feel ok if i had a bunch of colored eggs, with everything inside :S even if they looked neat.

  • Nice colors i like it, but it's gonna be horrible when you break em', i wouldn't feel ok if i had a bunch of colored eggs, with everything inside :S even if they looked neat.

  • want something that will make all kids around scream in fear and run away?

    WATCH THIS VIDEO!

What better way to waste edible food then putting boiled vegetables and hot spices in it??

  • Would be cool if it didn't take almost an hour. Sign me up for red dye #2.
