  • I always love the roar of an aircraft engine, especially a biplane. I always imagine that I'm one of the great aces in the RFC flying proud and high!

  • The greatest pilot ever was a fanatic Nazi, unfortunatley his story will never be told in a movie. 2400 missions, 460 tanks destroyed (3 Soviet Tank corps), shot down 30 times by AA, lost a leg (!) and returned to flying. Sunk 1 battleship, 1 cruiser, 70 Landing craft, destroyed 800 vehicles and 9 a/c. He was never shot down by an enemy pilot andwas the only German to receive the Gold oak leaves swords and diamonds to the Knight's cross .. Hans Rudel

  • "Are you out of your bloody minds?" "Yes sir." Well at least their honest :)

  • Great movie

  • thats the spirit

  • To answer some who wonder why pilots at that time(WW1) acted with chivalry is mostly becuse they are from noble familys, not all but most of the time and knew eachother one way or the other.

And pleas those who want to answer to my explanation keep it civil whataver you want to say..

  • @MrEmiosk thats true and the fact that it was a very new form of warfare in which pilots on both sides had to learn how to fight.

And pilots on both sides had similer views fighting far away from home trying to kill a man that has never wronged you but your goverment.

  • A toast to that ....cheeerrssss!!!!

  • ....The days of aerial chivalry...where are the legends?....Where`s the Douglas Bader`s....the Werner Moelders.....the Erich Hartmanns....the Don Gentile`s.......even enemies can show respect.....RIP all brave men/women of the Armed Forces, hopefully civilization will never have to endure conflicts like this again...Take care friends.

  • Best pilot ever, period

  • Imagine a Stuka diving down like that at the funeral part

  • Artificial aerial scenes. Mediocre film. I wanted to like it.

  • @biminibob1

I thought the aerial battles were a hell of a lot better than Flyboys, and portrayed the aircraft well, and the chivalry that made WWI fighter pilots unique.

  • "Many years have passed, and I still do wonder why?

The worst of men must fight - and the BEST OF MAN MUST DIE??"

  • the music of firend and enemy in this video is different from the osundtrack I like it!!!

  • i love playin rise of flight with this soundtrack !!!!!!!

  • @meuhey could you send me the game?:x

  • There is a short version of this movie that a s.o.b. cut some important details. Unfortunatly I took this short version.

  • The entire opening of this movie is amazing. From little Manfred in the forest chasing the plane on his horse, to this whole scene. The music sets the mood perfectly.

  • Where was this film made? How can I get a copy?

  • @rudi1889 germany

  • I loved the movie! Great soundtrack, Great storyline, Ok acting...exception would be (Lena Headey) She is always brilliant! This scene and this movie shows how great movies can be with fantastic soundtracks!

The kids starring at the planes as they flew by...epic!

  • are you out of your minds!?

    yes sir

    lol

  • What was the service ceiling of one of those things? Human physioligy? Did they have turbochargers or anything? It looks like they flew really high.

  • @pk5887 For example Albatros DII (german plane) max. 6.000 meters (19.000 feet) and Airco D.H.2 (british plane) max. 4.265 meters (ca. 14.000 feet), these are planes used in 1916

  • who is the ace with a skeleton in his plane?

  • @Prescottv I think it's Lanoe Hawker

  • @Eldoreth1980 Hawker was flying a D.H.2 when he was killed by MvR in 1916. SE.5s only came into service in 1917.

That I recall, there were no skeletons painted in the RFC, but I might be wrong.

  • @Amurrus Skeletons where actually american... the devils own grim reapers aka the 13 aero bomber squad! They are still around today flying over AFG and IRQ!

  • Comment removed

  • @Prescottv Roderick Dallas his plane matches the serial number in the RAF records

  • If this really happened (doubt it) and I was the widow of that pilot being laid to rest.....I would feel so honored upon seeing that wreath....

As for that officer hearing their reasoning.....I would do the same thing...

"WTH Dismissed!" New excuse me I need to get a drink......

  • @equarg They did that in WWI on both sides.

  • like in every movie the enemy is a monster usally they make the germans the enmy but when you see the war from their eyes you see how its really like

  • Minute 1:38 ¿stopped proppeller?.

  • @raulox71 That's the exhaust.

  • Superbe vidéo! Et super film avant tout.

  • Shame. such crap acting! Bring back george pepard!

  • ... True heroes ... great flying ...

  • WTF 0:49

  • i think its from the British ace and she holds it as a sign of her fondness for MvR of course this never happend anyone who has read the Barons memoirs will know that he didn't think it fair to become involved at any level while there was a risk he would have been killed, the 4 Albatros at the start would have been toast with that many Se5a's there dissapointing a film done with modern cgi can't be more accruate and actually show more dogfights it is about the Red Baron after all (rant over lol)

  • Gallantry. A thing of the past. The first minute or so is brilliant.

  • Great scene!!!!

  • At the end, is that supposed to be MvR's scarf? It is aweful sparkly white to have just been stripped off a man whose chest had been biforcated by a bullet.
