  • uwielbiam to!

  • Beautiful

  • my grandson who is quite shy sang this for me because i told him i like it so much and i was most surprised because he sang it so beautifully... it brought tears to my eyes just like when i first heard alexandra burke sing it.... beautiful words

  • check out sonny boy mick's version

  • This is a great high-dollar production of a great song.

But for a far simpler, and in my opinion, a version that better captures the true emotion and spirit of this great song, check out: YouTube "Hallelujah Allison Williams"

  • I prefer Rufus and Jeff's voices !

  • i think it sounds beautiful, but i sort of feel like there isnt much emotion in it.

  • just beautiful!!!! I get goose bumps...

  • just beautiful!!!!

  • Kippenvel. FANTASTISCH!!!!

  • Doesn't measure up to either KD Lang's or Jeff Buckley's version.

  • Evertime i hear this I hear her singing, unknowingly.

  • Amazing.:)

  • Jeff Buckley's verison is way better than this.

  • No good but the back up singers are outstanding

  • Please let me know who the beautiful girl is (Alexandra's friend), thanks.

  • wow. shes GOOD

  • Amazing... I love this so much. Beautiful... =)

  • The beauty of this song reflects from singer to singer. Its sung based on their emotions, ability and comfort level. Ive heard ever version, Love em all. She has heaps of passion in this song as well as emotion, shes sings it the way it effects her. God bless her for the talent and sharing it . Love this version.

  • i personally like this version out of any i've heard... she seems to have a connection with the song, as well as being very proficient technically... gets chills every time! :)

  • girl girl voice that this is to deny our love with you and your voice: a rich voice calm, sweet, beautiful clean beautiful congratulations

  • Amazingggg love it

  • @medidie64 I don't understand people who say they hate but they watch it through. There is nothing wrong with a soulful version of a rock song. Rock singers have sung rock versions of soul songs for ages.

some of y'all are not having opinions, you are straight up hating

  • I dislike this because it doesn't seem like the feeling behind the words actually register in her mind when she sings. She doesn't show a real connection to the song, it's like shes reading from cue cards. Listen to other versions of this great song before up-voting this one. Jeff Buckley did a moving version as did the writer and originator Mr. Leonard Cohen.

  • this song now has a big meaning in my life this was the very last song i sang to my mum befro she died R.I.P mum i love youu sleep tight sweet angel!!! xxxxx

  • The original singer/writer was Leonard Cohen and his version wasn't so great. Jeff Buckley gets top credit for reinventing it. Various others have notable versions. I agree that Alexandra's soaring gospel style doesn't quite fit the words and original intent. But the melody is so beautiful and I think she truly sings it from the heart and thus carries the song beyond the words and folksy roots into something transcendent.

  • simon cowell has butchered far too many songs =\

  • This gave me shivers through the whole thing.

  • i thought the original singer of this song was rufus wainwright

  • She is just AMAZING, love it. Her trajectory on X Factor was simply beautiful. Biggest fan.

  • Wonderful ! *___*

  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT

  • are yall stupid! do some of yall need help! she sang this song with such power and EMOTION that i feel moved when i listen to it! her voice is beatiful and she sings it brilliantly! I dont know what yall are talking about when you say she looks in the camera and sings with no emotion! I'd like to see you post a video and do it with MORE feeling, and compassion than her voice! she sung beautifully! If you can top that then sure feel free to say whatever the hell you please! but the majority cant

  • Watch as I sing this heart wrenching song while looking straight at the camera with no emotion

  • pena que 3760 pessoas tem inveja;)!!!!

  • such a beautiful song sang by a beautiful human being :)))))))

  • great heart in this blessing*********s to all you and yours

  • great heart in this blessing********* to all you and yours

  • @danieldrums9 you have a problem with nigg, suck my dick you fuckin racist

  • @danieldrums9 From my experience most Africans can sing gospel songs much better than any other ethnic groups. You cant deny Talent when it's evident so stop being a racist cunt because your voice cant compete.

  • @danieldrums9 you're a fucking dumbass..

  • Linda musica, ainda numa voz perfeita.

Parabens Alexandra Burke mt sucesso pra vc....

    (Kakau)

  • @olisquercio

    GTFO ->

  • 3,758 dislikes out of over 16 million views....i don't think alexandra's gonna loose much sleep over that....and this version is amazing!!

  • this song gives me the chills

  • i cannot believe one of the top comments is trashing this. i can't find a single person to not like this. is it jealousy? or just a troll?

  • AMEI QUERO SER CANTOR TBM MASI QUERO CANTAR PRA DEUS

  • this song only shows that she is a really really good singer but if you want to listen the meaning of this song then go for jeff buckley.....she can definitely sing better than jeff buckley but he totally gets into the song and doesn't care about his singing....

  • She is sooo good :D

  • hoooorible

  • 3,753 People obviously didn't hear her say "Hallelujah".

  • i have to sing this song either tomorrow or on thursday and i couldn't find a version that fit who i am, and who i represent. i found this like a minute and you are AMAZING. its your opinion if she is good or not but in mine, she is perfect.

  • there are 3,753 stupid haters out there

  • Your voice is amazing. It kind od reminds me of Leona Lewis. Good job! I added it to my favorites. :)

    <3

  • she is my inspiration!

  • quem não gostou deste vídeo é um grande otário

  • Got to dance-THE BOX

  • I don't recall how I discovered this song a while back. I've taken the recommendation of other posters and checked out some of the other versions, but I like this one the best. I like her voice, the arrangement, and orchestration. Never could get into K.D. Lang.

Where are the video clips from? Seems like she was on some sort of talent show. She's quite lovely, as is the girl in the video who's shown crying a few times.

  • Jeff Buckley's version was a bore compared to this

  • linda essa voz..Deus mora nos louvores...Brasil

  • Deus esta presente..em uma voz abençoada...aleluia

  • Like Jeff Buckley's better.....MUCH better. Not saying this one is bad

  • I LIKEEE IT =D

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song... is absolutely amazing !!!

  • Please watch my cover. i really want critique

  • what a voice!!! even if she's singing this song as if she was Beyonce (it' s not that I don't like Beyonce, but... everyone can guess what I mean..^^), I like this voice which shows her whole heart. She likes this song and it is the best thing in this video I guess.

  • @koreliana Yes, now if she can just sing it the way it was written all would be well. Thank God I don't have to listen to her "interpret" The National Anthem. On the bright side she does have a good voice. She just feels she has to use her complete range in every song.

  • @rbradaigh totally agree but don't be so hard towards her. How do you want her to sing this song while there are so big music-monsters who have sung this song before her (just look at Jeff BUCKLEY or David COHEN)? If she wants to make her own place she has to be a little (too) eccentric!!

But I have to say I prefer the original song from the old singers^^!!!!

  • Ok I usually never say anything.. but 3700 dislikes? REALLY? =/

  • Check my cover out please :)

  • Shite!

  • you can sing better den lisa

  • Omg... Her voice is so touching... I got goosebumps....

  • everytime i hear this song i think of shrek..

  • @ilsitoricta

    hahahahahahahahahahhahahhaah :)

  • This is nothing compared to Jeff Buckley's version!

  • wow. Just....wow :D

  • that's perfect, great, I can't imagine anyone else, singing this song so wonderful. I'm so touched.

  • @TidaleINK

i hav but i need 2 ask permission if i can put it on utube ok

  • e muito bom ouvir esta musica toda hora

  • Very Very Very Very Very gooooooooood...(very good) Very PERFECT.

  • the user m10zee did a really beautiful parody of this song. Its insulting to call it a parody.

  • She is absolutely amazing and she has a beautiful voice :X

JLS were good, very good.......but Alexandra deserved to win ;)

  • Who the fuck puts a key change in this song? Trashy shit!

  • I did a cover of this! (:

  • i`ts amazing

  • chills.

  • Everybody always mentions that Jeff Buckleys version is the best. Well I guess there is no arguing over taste as this one is a 1000 times better than buckleys boring version

  • @schoorl200 Are you high? This version is WAY over-produced and sounds like Whitney Houston over a gospel version of the "Where Are You Christmas" backing track. This is obviously a matter of opinion, but this is honestly one of the WORST versions of the song I've heard. She even changes the key. I'm not denying her talent, but this is just a horrible version. "Hallelujah" is a sincere song and should be sung in a sincere way. She might as well have done a metal version of "Hallelujah".

  • @BigTymerPimp As I said: there is no argument about taste. I do not need to be high to like one song better than another. There is no recipe on how Hallelujah 'should be sung'

  • @schoorl200 Actually, there is a recipe on how it should be sung. It's called "the way it was written". I'm not being a dick, but is the national anthem the same song if you play it in B flat? No. Sure, you have the same building blocks, such as intervals, but it's not the same song. Even if you have good intentions.

Just from the looks of this video this is like some big commercial for this girl. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Asking if you were high was a bit of an exaggeration.

  • @BigTymerPimp Well, in that case Jeff Buckley should not qualify at all, coz thenThe ultimo boring version of Lennard Cohen is the way it was sung.

One can play the National Anthem in any key it might be better abd it might be worse and one can argue wheter it is still the national Anthem, but it might be a better version. I kinda prefer Jhonny Cash' version of "hurt". Sounds completely different from the way Nine inch nails made it, but even they prefer Cash'version

  • @schoorl200

Leonard Cohen sung it the way he wrote it, but his voice didn't have the appeal for it. It's like Robert Plant doing opera. No disrespect towards him.

We can argue about this all day, but we both agree. It's a matter of opinions. I see this as a commercial for this lady. Trying to showcase her vocals by singing like Whitney Houston with a gospel sounding back track. That's "boring" for me.

You think it's better than the "boring" versions. I'll leave it at that.

  • @BigTymerPimp

indeed, we can discuss it till eternity, but as said, there is no discussing taste. I respect your preference, but mine is different. Fortunately we still live in a world where that is possible ;-)

  • @BigTymerPimp If you want to hear someone sing this with emotion ( which is missing here) as well with amazing voice, look for kd lang. kd has one of the best female voices around and she also sang it with soul and meaning

  • @BigTymerPimp My sentiments exactly!

  • @BigTymerPimp You could not be more wrong. A gospel arrangement for this song is entirely appropriate with its Biblical references and the word Hallelujah sung over and over. So much drama about who did the best version. Jeff Buckley's singer/songwriter. k.d. lang's chanteuse. Alexandra Burke's gospel. Each was appropriate for the performer. In my opinion all three versions are transcendent. I do have a favorite, but that's beside the point. Kudos to Cohen for a beautiful, versatile song.

  • @thecluephone I never claimed that the gospel sound in this was inappropriate. It's just that it's too predictable. Someone says "Hallelujah" and all the sudden it has to have a gospel spin on it with over the top vocals. I thought the key change and the over-produced sound is inappropriate for a song like this, though. I feel it is a sincere song and I think it sounds better without so much instrumentation. It's like adding drums to Moonlight Sonata. Plus, this video is totally a commercial.

  • @thecluephone How am I wrong for expressing my opinion? Some people actually agree with me from the looks of it. I personally enjoy most versions of "Hallelujah". This one just sounds like her record producers put it in front of her and said, "Do some nice vocals like Whitney Houston. We'll take care of the rest while you stand there and look pretty."

This version doesn't sit well with me. And, that is my opinion. I cannot stress that enough.

  • @BigTymerPimp No, this is not close to being a horrible version. I thought it was amazing. She did it in her way and she sings very good. Saying it's horrible is not true at all.

  • Hallelujah is actually a passionate song that should be sung with passion so I would have to say, she nailed it. There is so much feeling in this version that it truly speaks to peoples' hearts.

  • @BigTymerPimp Totally agree with you here...it started out ok with just soft music playing but once it ended it ended horribly. I kinda get what they were trying to do with it but it didn't work

  • @BigTymerPimp no te pases sino saves de musica no comentes

  • @BigTymerPimp - there is supposed to be a key change...

  • @BigTymerPimp

    Jaloers????

  • Too bad she doesn't sing the entire song but this video is not about the song it's about her time on the show. Disappointing.

  • She scared me at 2:40 :D

  • awesome pipes!

  • beautiful

  • just watching this can make you cry cuz of how hard she worked to get to where she wanted to... She is an amazing singer :]

  • the fucking size of her lips

  • Like it!!!! :)

  • Jeff's version I think was better but this is actually really good

  • omg wow! i didn't expect this when i clicked on this video for some reason, but she's amazing!

  • WOW! WHAT CRAP! LEONARD COHEN SANG IT AS IT SHOULD BE SANG!

  • Putainnnnnnnnnnnn....

Comme elle chante laisse tombe ...

    J'adoreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • ameyzing song!!!

  • lol at these people saying its horrible. she cant sing blah blah blah... well people clearly disagree i mean it's sold over 1.2 million, just saying!! i think its a beautiful and an emotional version. actually my fave version! <3

  • @xReesx17 how can this be better than jeff buckleys version i dont get a vibe of her song its almost emotionless

  • @joemoin While she has a gorgeous voice I understand what you are saying. She could be singing about anything but she isn't singing what the song is about.

  • @sirrrowan exactly jeff buckleys version makes me sad this makes me bored

  • What a gift you recieved! woW!

  • Only blacks have these kind of voices. You can recognize them from the first moment.

  • The whole thing just gives me chills!

  • Well enough, Alexandra gives another dimension to the song. But Jeff Buckleys remains the best. She(it) gives another dimension to the song

  • SHE IS SO GOOD !!!!!!

  • It's too bad that youtube only has thumbs up and thumbs down buttons for comments, they really need a middle finger button. I just want to take this opportunity to say to all you haters who commented that Alexandra is bad-

,,l,, Fuck You ,,l,, I understand if someone prefers a different version but to say that she's bad is inexcusable.

  • awesome... but jeffs version is still the greatest song ever made.. the note he holds... oh wow

shes still does alright though ;)

  • Where did she win ???

  • @aribanacho Hope you die in serious pain.

  • Oh what a voice! gifted gifted gifted!

  • What a voice! Shivers! Tears! Wow!

  • This is a cover. Leonard cohen was the original. Also, KD Lang did a great job of this song at the 2010 winter olympics.

  • This is a cover. Leonard cohen was the original. Also, KD Lang did a great job of this song at the 2010 winter olympics

  • 3734 cant sing like her

  • jeff buckleys is 12938234943753875238754283723847 times better.

  • Lol, at 0:39 it looks like Simon Cowell is saying Hallelujah.

  • its just wrong that when i watched this video, the top video suggestion was born this way by lady gaga O.o

  • Very powerfyl.

  • This song is great! I found a cover of this song by Casey Pitel and it is fantastic! Go watch it if you haven't already!

  • @Flamehopper Funny to see you guys directing traffic. You comment isn't the first I saw posted 16 hours ago & got me to watch it, well, part of it. Good effort, but whiny sounding to me. If you want to see other great versions, check Allison Crowe's and the one by Lind, Nilson, Holm and Fuentes tha's labeled Hallelujah (shrek song). Realize those guys are singing a second language to them too! But you and Casey et al should keep playing. It isn't bad, just not "fantastic".

  • exelnte voz

  • very nice song, thanks my friend......

  • love it !

  • i love this music is so beutiful

  • love this.

  • why does this girl make me cry?... so beautiful

  • Blatantly obvious that she doesn't care about what she's singing about. Awful. She just wants something she can go "WAOAAAHHHOOOHHHHWOAH~" on. Another musician who uses horrible runs like that to hide the fact she can't stay on the note. Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen all the way. :D <3

  • @TheCaptainofFailure don't judge beautiful music

  • chills

  • thats probably hotter than hell

  • @aribanacho your an idiot.

  • she did the song justice

  • Official Single??ughh this song was sung by jeff buckley THE BEST!!all the others 'shame' themselves for singing a song that was sung by such a talented artist

R.I.P Jeff Buckley ur always in our hearts <3

  • @fionacosta2 don't judge people if you have God in your heart, it is a beautiful song, and everyone should have the right to make it their own.

  • @greenXfaerie omg nooo i'm not judging goodnes no! i adoore alexandra she's an angel it's just that jeff buckley is the one and only for this song.he was born to sing it 'officilly', and all the others aren't official, no matter what ppl think, thy're just covers.but i don't mean to hurt her or anything God NO i love her <3

  • @fionacosta2 i don't know... i kinda like her version better, but that's just me... XD

  • @greenXfaerie it's not about the version..i like jeff's version better cuz it's HIS song..u know what i mean ;)?buut hehe it's just an opinion and ur aloowed to have one just like me :D

  • @fionacosta2 yeah... i know what you mean XD

  • @greenXfaerie hehe i'm gald :D <33

  • @fionacosta2 Piece of info, jeff's version is a cover, the original song is Leonard Cohen's... just saying ;)

  • @8xFallenAngelx8 yeah but he sung it the BEST so i consider it THE BEST so the others are always gonna be just covers TO ME ;) <3
