UK bans Cross-shaped Medal as Offensive to Muslims and Hindus

The star and cresent feature on the coat of arms for the city Portsmouth in England and also it's soccer strip even though only 2% of it's population are Muslim. The other 98% of the people who live there have no problem with that. Therefore why should a medal for bravery awarded for fighting for a traditionally Christian country and featuring a cross be offensive to Muslims? I'm non-religious myself and like Hindus and most other religions have no problem with it.

Quick example: take a christian cross, turn it top to bottom and you get a symbol for the antichrist. If a christian would be handed down a medal with an antichrist on it, pretty sure, he will an issue with that. Yet it still would be a cross.

If some people don't like the cross then the best way to handle this is make it in two versions, one with a cross, one without. The recipient decides what version he wants to receive.

I don't know about Hindus, but Muslims are definitely hyper-sensitive about the cross.
