  • Niceeeee.... I see we got the same setup =)

  • @cisco760ca

    :p

  • I got this router, can you explain why some of the lan LEDs are orange not solid green?

  • @knightslay2

LAN leds (orange or green) normally blinks during activities.

Orange? It could be your network adapter's speed.

    10/ 100Mbps = Orange.

    10/ 100/ 1000Mbps = Green.

  • what does the motorola thing do.. ? help please

  • @Alooy10q8

thats the cable modem. u cant connect to internet without it.

  • @VashStepler why not can u explain ? why do i need that -.-

  • @Alooy10q8

Please google the word "modem". I just cant think of any shorter way to explain what modem is here. xD

Anyway, since the Netgear WNDR3700 does not have a built-in modem in it. I had to get a seperate modem, which is the Motorola SB6120.

I youre a cable internet user and using only 1 computer(no Wi-Fis) then Motorola SB6120 is good enough 4 u.

If you have any Wi-Fi capable devices & planning to connect it to the internet along with ur comp? Get the Motorola SBG6580 instead.

  • @VashStepler aha so without the motorola i cant connect to the internet ?!

  • @Alooy10q8

    Thats correct.

  • @VashStepler but my cousin he doesnt have fiber optics and he is using wndr4000 on a phone line !!! explain

  • @Alooy10q8

Your cousin must be using a DSL Modem then hook it up to his wndr4000.

Cable Modem = connected via Cable.

DSL Modem = connected via Phone line.

  • @VashStepler k thnx check out the new netgear n900 wndr4500 it rocks i am going to buy 1 this week its 200$

  • @VashStepler k thnx check out the new netgear n900 wndr4500 it rocks i am going to buy 1 this week its 200$

  • @VashStepler k thnx check out the new netgear n900 wndr4500 it rocks i am going to buy 1 this week its 200$

  • @VashStepler sry my internet lagged !!

  • Do you need a modem and the 3700 or just the 3700?

  • @dvgowner1

Yes, u do need a DSL or a Cable modem.

    Are u a cable user?

  • @VashStepler yes i cot cable, but i found my answer, the make two different models of the product. One with the modem//router in one and one with just the router.

  • @dvgowner1

You should check the "motorola sbg6580". Its like the wndr3700 and the sb6120 in one.

  • @dvgowner1 If someone has already specifically answer another possible part of your question " do you need a modem and the wndr 3700 or just the 3700" reason why VashStepler is right is because:

Gateway= Modem & router in one device(example=2wire from dsl At&t, SMC from CONcast is another which I'm not sure if they still lease those out or not they plan to lease out a"dora" gateway unit in the future)

Modem is only a physical device with one ethernet port

    & you already know router.cheers

  • That's what I needed to see - a flashing blue link light on the 6120 modem. My standard wireless router can't do gigabit so it flashes orange indicating 100mbps only. I have Cox mid tier cable internet which is DOCSIS 3.

  • @photochick4u

What's ur internet speed with Cox?

Cox is not avaible in my area.

  • @VashStepler 25mbps on the middle level plan.

  • @photochick4u

Could i ask how much are u paying for their middle level plan?

  • @VashStepler too much lol. Actually it's $48.99 minus $15.49 for having the bundle of cable tv, home phone, and internet so $33.50. Home phone is via cable is $20.

  • @photochick4u

Thats a good deal! I pay $40/month for my internet cable(middle tier, 15Mbps DL and 0.98Mbps UL) with Time Warner.

I used to save more back then when i was with Charter cable, same speed but $10 cheaper.

  • @VashStepler I've been told that by others who live in TIme Warner areas in this town too. Do you have landline phone from Time Warner in order to get that price? I'm guessing you must. That's the only reason I'm keeping the phone for the moment. It works out that I only pay $5 more to add the phone when you figure in the bundle discount. So it almost wouldn't make since to get rid of it, lose the discount, and pay $15 more for internet. I would have to go to the lower tier to save money

  • @photochick4u

Yes, i have the Internet and their so called "Digital" Phone and both costs me $82/month.

    xD

  • @VashStepler Yea so-called is right. I do know that when the power goes out, unlike regular phone line service, the phone ghoes dead too. I remember when it was being marketed as having a battery backup somewhere in case the power goes out.

The joke in this town is some people won't move to an area that is a Time Warner area just because of the prices. I'm lucky to live in a Cox service area but wouldn't rule out AT&T Uverse if it came to this neighborhood. It's already in other areas here.

  • @VashStepler I honestly don't need as much speed as I have. Think out it. It's more of a marketing ploy now between the companies to see who has the fastest speed. I remember when cable internet arrived here in 1998. It was 1.5mbps which even then seemed fast but that was be streaming HD movies, etc.

  • @photochick4u

I play a lot and DL a lot so I needed those.

I just found out that theres this company named Champion... They offer cable, phone, and internet. I should check them out.

  • why dont you just get the sbg6580

  • @TerryLam1993

They havent released the sbg6580 that time when i bought these item.

    How's the sbg6580 anyway?

  • @VashStepler SBG6580 is amazing, i did a speed test about it youtube dot com /watch?v=WgXSLLVwMFE

  • I thought you were going to do a speed test. Maybe you should, yes?

  • @tyrone8323

Nah, i recently downgraded my internet speed.

Only got 8Mbps DL and .70Mbps UL.

  • What's the BEST router out there and is there one that acts as a router/modem-DOCSIS 3.0 that can connect directly to coaxial cable?

  • @mytuber81

    Hmm...

    Check the Motorola SBG6580.

  • The WNDR3700 looks very nice.

  • @CCModemsDotNet

    Thanks.

  • They're asking for $100 a month, but with triple play its about the same price for what I'm paying for RoadRunner. They game me the Motorola SBG6580 modem which is pretty much the same thing. Speeds are great! also have the WNDR3700, great router!

  • @Jay4justin

And u're still using WNDR3700 with that SBG6580?

  • @VashStepler Yeah, you have to pay extra a month to use the wireless feature. That is just a waste of money.

  • @Jay4justin

SBG6580 has built-in Wifi feature, and there's an extra cost just to use that feature?

    Wow...

  • @VashStepler Yeah Time Warner Cable is pretty pathetic.

  • @Jay4justin

    U're darn right.

  • I'm upgrading to TWC Wideband, and I'm thinking of getting this modem. How is this modem working out for you?

  • @Jay4justin

Awesome. I've had it for more than six months now and never had any problem with it so far.

Im guessing that u're living in new york... How much are they asking monthly?

  • how did you activate the modem?

  • @hearnechearne

Just call ur subscriber's # and tell them that u wanted to use ur own modem instead of their's. U will have to give them the mac address and the model of ur modem.

  • haha I got same setup like this video. It was awesome router and it could handle anything.

  • does ur ps3 work well with the router?

  • @acaftermath

    Tbh, I dont have a ps3.

Try it with this, "NETGEAR WNCE2001".

  • @22isevil

The router is great! I love it.

Never had prob with it except for the modem.
