@DjRyanBeeden Well, because I want to mix them together to sound nice on youtube then I output the sound from the drum module into my computer's sound card input and use software called Reaper to mix it together with the backing track. However, most drum modules have the ability to plug in an external sound source like an iPod, etc. as an aux. in'put for 'play along' purposes. Best wishes, Andy.
appreciate your help man, so you made youre own midi file? i got fruity loops and cubase5le, but if i take the fpc in flstudio (its a virtual mpc- drumcomputer) would my dd505 just work with it like any midi keyboard you hook up? or.. maybe thats where i miss the midi file?.. cause im new to creating midi files.. thanks
@djsnw I made a midi file for a program called Reaper. I just took the default file and edited it to acount for he outputs of the dd505 - wasn't too hard to do once I new where to place the saved file. In fruity loops it could be the same unless there is a midi learn type of function. If RedSamurai is reading this then he might have some idea about what yuou can do as he seems to be quite knowledgable of FL. - RedSam you out there?
@djsnw yes that is exactly what I do. The only hard part is the MIDI mapping within the DAW and VST app. Some let you make your own maps easily and other free one's for example need you to make a map file. Most apps have preset maps for Roland, Yamaha, Alesis, etc. But I've never found a DD505 preset so I made my own using the user manual which tells you what midi not maps to what pad.
I am also interested in this kit. My question is........since I will probably be using vsts do I require a good module? and will it make a difference in velocities ect (especially the high hat) how is this kit doing in the velocity department?
Thanks for taking the time to read my question and well done for your channel
@Cyberowen Hi and thanks for comments. I mainly play acoustic kit and so it's a bit frustrating when I try ghost notes and subtle sticking on this electronic kit. Also, the sensitivity is nowhere near as good as a Roland, RET or diablo snare for instance, no comparison but the same goes for the price! If yoi play mainly rock metal and heavy stuff then it's great. I have played some jazz and funk but it's hard due to the limited sebsitivity.
@Cyberowen As far as VSTs again the midi triggers fine so long as you have a decent PC to reduce the latency.. Midi direct in or via a USB works the same.you dont need anything else apart from the drum software.
You can hear all my other vids they are mainly done using midi triggering of samples and work great for the type of music. For thye money its ok. I would suggest you try one is you possible can hough. Good luck S.
Hi. I am considering buying one of these kits, but I have a question I hope you can answer.
Is it possible to buy a decent unit containing good drum samples/voices that can be controlled by this kit via the MIDI. I used to have keyboards and stuff and am well versed in MIDI, but I don't know if such a thing exists. Basically like a drum machine but without any pads or buttons - purely a sound bank with audio outputs that can only be driven by MIDI in?
@daronhughes yes indeed, infact that's what's good out these kits, they are cheap and have midi out so you can trigger sounds / samples. you can do this in various ways, either triggering a drum machine that has midi in or using a VST such as fxpansion BFD, SSD, addictive and so on. If you know about midi and use a DAW then you will understand VST plugins i expect. If you haven't already, then please check out my channel and you will see / hear a lot of sample playing using midi and a DAW.
Silly question... How did you input your own songs?
