they are limited to 16A on 230V

No. I have put them in oil so the secondarys doesn´t arc any more :-)

@mohrjaffa i have a doubt...i'm not an expert in these things...but i do some crazy high voltage expeiments...i wanted to ask wether you put the whole transformer in oil just like that or with some special cover or something...plz reply i need it for my project in a month...

Don´t forget the dangers working with MOTs.
