I enjoyed watching this video, it is good to see traditional forms. The jian is so big there are a lot of techniques applicable to spear! Thanks for posting this.
With the slightest graze of a sharp edged weapon, blood is drawn. Imagine how many possible slashes there are with this demonstration. In excitement, the heart pumps faster. How long can one fight after losing blood? Especially if it gushes forth, death is eminent, incapacitation is immediate.
its a blade thats gentle compared to the flesh of your inner thigh? and femeral artery. or how about him driving the blade with his body weight suffused with possitioning?
I must say that this is the first time that I have heard Bagua referred to as 'pacifist'! From the little I have been taught, the large and small circular movements are designed to evade, strike, break a limb, and throw an opponent onto their head, usually all in one go. Not so different to Taiji and Xing Yi in fact.
using a sword (劍) couldn't be more different than using 刀. you don't just hack away at body parts. accuracy and flow, flow yourself, go with the sword. you should check out Porf Zhou's San Cai Jian posting.

Ba Gua is a pacifistic, defensive technique that uses evasion and massive inertia for circular movements for its energy. Thank you.
