Am I doing too much, or what should I do to make this jawn a beast? It's already a beast with factory dual exhaust, but I want to make it a serious muscle car...
I just bought a 1996 grand marquis LS to turn into a serious muscle car. I'm getting the transmission converted and putting a chip in the trans and motor along with platinum plugs and racing wires with bigger rotors and pads for the brakes. Then, I'm gonna put a dual exhaust cherry bomb with glass packs on it. Does that sound good, or do you have any suggestions? I got a 2005 cadillac DTS, but I wanted a toy to mess around with which is why I bought the grand marq...
TZhanks, yeah I've been meaning to get the sct x-cal tuner for the car. I was going to use blueovalchips, but am interested in MPT[never heard of them]. I will try and find them on the internet. Any further info on them would be appreciated.
hey man....this car is NICE !! ...one thing is you should 100% trash the superchip and run a sct x3 with custom dyno tunes for all the parts you have on her ..The superchips tuner is for a stock mustang made to work on your panther..get a good 93oct tune from "MPT" if you cant get to a dyno..DO NOT go to "blueovalchips" he had my car running lean as hell and would not datalog and retune my car...."MPT" will datalog and retune for bolt ons up to 6 months after you get it for FREE and its $75 ....

@andreslowpez1 Have you tried autotraderdotcom, there should be plenty of '04's for 4-8k. There isn't anything wrong with an '07 that I know of[I'm no expert by any means], you just have to deal with the electronic throttle.
@andreslowpez1 as far as i know, a guy who owns a cab company who buys crown vics all the time, told me that anything newer than 03 was when the crown vic started having problems with the front suspension or something of that nature. i dont know exactly what he said. but whatever you find, definitely go for police interceptors, they come with maximum factory tuning. rev limiters opened up all the way and they HAUL ASS. i sink into my seat when i floor it. those cars dont fuck around!!!

@andreslowpez1 If you purchase one, get a 2004 model, it has the best stuff on it and has a lot of parts that are mustang specific that work with that year. 04's come with a better induction system and 80 mm maf stock compared to the '03. 2005 and newer change to throttle by wire so you don't have any throttle cable connected to the throttle body, you can't upgrade that throttle body, it would be cheaper and easier to get an '04. Just my 2 cents

I have owned a P71 for 5 years now and just bought another one. Don't let the ricers talk down about Vics. They may be the size of a small room on wheels but I have blown the doors off of many turbo charged rice rockets. @Synic08 I completely disagree a P71 would be a unique car to mod, I have seen some with bigger engine swaps and turbo'ed. Now adding a body kit, wing, and HKS stickers would be a fail,but adding that to any car is fucking stupid. The P71 is definately a sleeper.

what vaccum line do you use the T on is it the line that comes from the sensor on the back of the plenum it has like a 5/8 hose that comes from the plenum to your cold air intake
@lawnmowerTim If I can remember, I reduced the PCV vacuum to a fuel hose and plugged it in, I plugged in the other two lines that are closest to the firewall in the remaining vacuum ports, the vacuum line that plugs below the PCV valve vacuum Tee's into one of the lines towards the firewall that goes to the elbow. Just reduce the pcv valve vacuum and plug in the rest, if your elbow is like mine, you won't have enough vacuum ports so you are going to tee two of them together and then use a fuel
@lawnmowerTim hose to connect the two tee'd ones to the elbow. If you look closely towards the firewall, you can see what I did. Also, some of the vacuum tubes aren't in the right angle/location. I used an allen wrench in the tube to twist/turn the vacuum tubes the direction I needed them. I think I even pulled one of them out and switched it with one of the other ones. Oh yeah, vacuum is any line behind the throttlebody, the lines going to your intake tube are filtered air,
@lawnmowerTim one of the lines is the vent for the opposite valve cover of the PCV valve that completes the circulation, the other line is air for your IACV [idle air control valve].
@sean5comet so do you put the pcv to the other valve cover where it goes to your cold air intake? cause it looks like in the video that you have it on the top of the plenum
@lawnmowerTim My pcv is on the passenger side valve cover, the vent is on the driver side valve cover. I reduced the outlet on the 90 deg elbow that is connected to the pcv valve on the passenger side valve cover, connect fuel hose to it, then connected it to the intake elbow vacuum source [the port that is forwards facing the alternator]. I don't know how else to explain this, this is extremely simple so you should be able to do this by now. The intake elbow has nothing to do with the cold
@lawnmowerTim Oh yeah, forgot to mention about my oil separator, this isn't necessary, but after I reduced the pcv, I plumbed it into an oil separator and then bent up some hard line towards the vacuum source. This is becoming harder and more confusing to type. Just reduce your pcv to a fuel hose and connect all of the vacuum lines to the elbow, you will more than likely be short a vacuum port so you will need to tee two of them together, than plug them in.

@elitem3 Never claimed that my car was fast. My car will do low 15's in the 1/4, it has 155k miles on it and still has over 205psi to each cylinder. Funny, I really like the Audi S4, RS4, and my favorite is the RS6, but I know every car, no matter how expensive & high quality they are, will break and your Audi is extremely expensive to repair and most do-it-yourselfers can't work on them without special training and tools. Luckily my car is mass produced, reliable, and easier to work on.

have you had problems with your accel coils yet ?? i always have trouble with them so i got granatelli for mine,,and why didn't you get a custom sct x3 tune you will get like 3x's the power then a shelf tune superchips tuner,,,,if you get one go to blueovalchips,com and get the sct x3 93octane performance shift tune you will love it man,,,,this is a great car and sound good to check mine out and let me know what you think ??

By any chance would you know why my acceleration seems so slow and my crown vic seems to switch gears slower if i have a high flow Magnaflow exhaust setup and K & N CAI ? (any possibility its the fuel filter or injectors) plz help me out
@italianstallion92 as long as you don't drive like crazy (ex: stomping the pedals to hear the engine), you'll get around 18-22 MPG in the city and up to 29 MPG in the highway.
but like I said, drive casual and you'll get good gas mileage. Ford says this gets only 14 in the city but that also depends on the driver.

Used to get upto 24mpg highway before the wider aftermarket aluminum 18" rims that are currently on the car. Sean5Comet: Did you just flip the intake plenum and leave it on the drivers side? Any problems getting anything to fit? How about rear springs, know anyone making a shortened set. I need to lower the whole car about an inch. I like your ongoing project. I am just starting my '03 CVPI project.
@F15drvr The hardest thing to make it fit is adapting the vacuum lines. This was simple, I used a plastic tee for one of them and a brass fitting ziptied into the 90 deg rubber elbow on the PCV valve. I used the brass fitting to step it down to a fuel hose that I used to get a vacuum source off the elbow.
not to bad for a big car with only 280ci. if ford only put the 302HO. in these dam things we could go fast cheap!! i just put two 2 chamber thrush all welded on a 94 crown vic. sound really good. better then flow masters!!. its on here look it up. 94 crown vic. $800 cash

@p71josh just get a custom setup, its easy as fuck.. buy an h-pipe, 2 tailpipes, 2 magnaflow mufflers and like 3 feet of piping, there you go, got your own catback system. Throw on some tips and take off ur last 2 cats and your all set

@elitem3 Never claimed that my car was fast. My car will do low 15's in the 1/4, it has 155k miles on it and still has over 205psi to each cylinder. Funny, I really like the Audi S4, RS4, and my favorite is the RS6, but I know every car, no matter how expensive & high quality they are, will break and your Audi is extremely expensive to repair and most do-it-yourselfers can't work on them without special training and tools. Luckily my car is mass produced, reliable, and easier to work on.

have you had problems with your accel coils yet ?? i always have trouble with them so i got granatelli for mine,,and why didn't you get a custom sct x3 tune you will get like 3x's the power then a shelf tune superchips tuner,,,,if you get one go to blueovalchips,com and get the sct x3 93octane performance shift tune you will love it man,,,,this is a great car and sound good to check mine out and let me know what you think ??

@italianstallion92 as long as you don't drive like crazy (ex: stomping the pedals to hear the engine), you'll get around 18-22 MPG in the city and up to 29 MPG in the highway.
but like I said, drive casual and you'll get good gas mileage. Ford says this gets only 14 in the city but that also depends on the driver.

@italianstallion92 I get around 14mpg in city regardless of driving style stop light to stoplight. I get 18-22mpg highway depending on driving style. Used to get upto 24mpg highway before the wider aftermarket aluminum 18" rims that are currently on the car. I am posting a new vid shortly due to 2nd set of rear tires being replaced [not because of burnouts, but mileage on the tires].

Sean5Comet: Did you just flip the intake plenum and leave it on the drivers side? Any problems getting anything to fit? How about rear springs, know anyone making a shortened set. I need to lower the whole car about an inch. I like your ongoing project. I am just starting my '03 CVPI project.

@F15drvr The hardest thing to make it fit is adapting the vacuum lines. This was simple, I used a plastic tee for one of them and a brass fitting ziptied into the 90 deg rubber elbow on the PCV valve. I used the brass fitting to step it down to a fuel hose that I used to get a vacuum source off the elbow.
