i was the same, my mother wanted us to go to church every Sunday, no exceptions allowed, and I did not see the reason. I still don´t go to church every Sunday but I understand things differently now than then.

My parents did not push me too much and gave me the room I needed to come to my own conclusions and to my own decisions. If you are not free to decide for yourself then that is a dictatorship and I wanted a personal relationship with YHWH without intermediaries.
