  • Hey man. Love the tutorials. Thank you.

  • @AudioBananas You're very welcome.

  • you just earned yourself a sub!

  • @apppjunkie Thanks!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great. Way too advanced for me, but really enjoyed seeing you work this out.

  • @ray3mondo Glad you enjoyed it, thanks. Yes, this one's more difficult than some of his other pieces, for sure.

  • @pianojohn113 that's true but i've seen two other piano covers of that song and I think you can do it much better!

    Regards Wessel

  • Dude, this is amazing! Could you make a tutorial of Elton's Saturday night's alright for fighting? That's one of my favourite songs and I would love if you can make a tutorial on it. Thanks man!

  • I love how part 1 has 170,000 views, and part 2 has 26,000 views. That means about 6 out of 7 people had no determination to learn the song, which is sad because these tutorials were awesome

  • Dude, you are amazing!!! Please if you can, make a video for crocodile rock. I would LOVE so much to learn how and would love if you can make a video on it!!!!!!!!!!

  • Piano John you've changed my life and demystified so many mysteries of the piano. THANK YOU!!

  • @northerng1 That's great, I'm glad to have helped out where I can! Have fun. :-)

  • Loved it. you should try crocodile rock next. that would be so flippin sweet!

  • This helped me out so much. You rule. I love the notes at the top divided into 2 hands, it makes it dead easy to figure out! Thanks man!

  • i always try to learn songs by ear but how do you know a 7th chord when you hear one.

  • Mostly it's just a matter of knowing the "flavor" of the chord.. You start with recognizing major and minor, then add the seventh note to each, and after a while you kind of learn to discern the difference.

  • dude this is fantastic i wish everyone would make their "how to's" like this

  • This is awesome. I am trying to learn piano w/o lessons and have some basic music theory knowlege (I've figured out how to pound out Major, Minor, 7ths, minor 7ths etc). This video is all I need in order to learn this song. AWESOME! Thanks for taking the time to teach me piano!

  • John man, you nailed it again cheers. More Elton (John) please....... Q: do you write your own songs & will you ever post any?

  • A couple whose wedding I've been hired for just sprung this one on me with only a few days to prepare and I was in a strange improvisational, enharmonic funk over this song until I found THIS series of videos. You are the man pianojohn113! Thank god for selfless musicians like you who give back in such a comprehensive, effective manner! You're the Obama of piano instruction!

  • the most amazing part i find about people who are awesome at piano, is the total harmony between their hands. It completely throws me for a loop every time you use a different hand to play the end notes (in a good way)

  • YOU ROCK!!! THANK YOU! :D

  • Wow. I heard this song and loved it, and wanted to learn how to play it. I had no idea, i'm not a great piano player, but I looked it up. This was the key for me. It seems very very precise and accurate. Thank you very much. I've learned this song and this has sparked my interest further into studying piano.

  • love this song i need to play the whole thing

  • my god so gonna learn this

  • dude you are god. being that I'm only 14 i made some adjustments to fit how quick i can move my hands, and how far i can stretch but I've got it down pretty well. My inspiration to learn this song was watching Almost Famous the other day. Great movie. Great job thank you.

  • lol, thanks! Almost Famous was a great movie, and this song fit perfectly in that scene. Lots of really good tunes on that soundtrack.

  • yea a lot of zeppelin, probably my favorite band.

  • Elton had a lot of Soul. You can tell by the G/A chord. He didn't directly copy R&B artists like most artists did but he used the influence to create his own Soul.

  • Very true.. Especially for its time, a G/A chord was less common in the rock genre and he used it very effectively.. It takes the song to a higher level.

  • pianojohn thank you you helped me become a piano player from all your videos from your song and piano man this really helped me and the first big concert i do i will mention you on how you helped me become a sucess thanks alot!!! ROCK ON

  • Awesome Piano John... I have been teaching myself piano over the years by ear and tranfering what I know on guitar to piano. I've always loved this song, and figured out some on my own, but I'm just not there yet, so your lesson will really help me, but may still take a bit of time to get that level of ability. How I appreciate your gift and willingness to share it... My hat's off to you and Elton for such great work... Thanks again Sir... :)

  • I just want to say thank you, very much, PianoJohn for dedicating your time to these videos!! This video tutorial had me playing this song in minutes, literally. It's such a beautiful song. I look foward to your upcoming videos! You should make some more Elton John videos of, Bennie and the Jets or Honky Cat, if you have the time. I greatly appreciate your work Sir!

  • thank you so much!!! i love this song!

  • thank you very much. i have two weeks to learn, it least you gave me a chance!!!!

  • I really appreciate the time you are taking to teach us this, We really can't find a way to thank you properly, you have my subscription :)

  • Thank you so much! You actually saved my life. I am playing this in a pageant and I ran across your video when I was looking to listen to the song! It was fate that I found your video!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

  • Wow, that's amazing! It was fate, you were MEANT to learn this song. Hope the pageant goes well!

  • Thanks John,Much appreciated the time spent adding the letters for the chords being played,It's the little things like what the left hand is doing that makes all the difference in the sound that i sometimes couldn't work out till you've shown us.Well done and please keep playing and posting.Best wishes.Richie:-)

  • Thanks Richie! I started adding the letter notations after seeing a couple of my earliler tutorials that didn't have it... Seemed a little confusing without it. Glad you liked it!

  • Yes, that's been on the list for quite some time. I'll try to get to that one soon!

  • great work. Thanks alot.

  • Glad to do it!

  • This is amazing... it would be amazing if you could do the same for Ben Folds "Landed". I've been trying to learn it forever and this is by far the greatest piano tutorial I've seen on Youtube.

  • Thanks very much! I'll see if I can do Landed as well.

  • Gah, struggline with this one John!Stuck with the rythm on "oh how it feels so real". You've got it down perfectly, but to me the notes don't sound right - I'm sure they are though, probably just me playing it wrong.

    Thanks anyway, great instruction!

  • I know what you mean about that part, because the piano notes are on the beat but the vocal is somewhat syncopated.. More practice should do it, as you'll get it down soon enough. Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks Mate, Best piano instruction ever...well done.

  • Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked it!

  • Lol, when you listen closely at 1:37, I heard the end of the Piano Man intro!

  • Hey, you're right! Different key, same sound. Good call!

  • i second the motion

  • lol, thanks!

  • Sir, I openly upon you. My friend has now put you as one of his heroes on myspace. Your videos have taught me so much and good luck making more! Im defiantly looking forward to them.

  • Thanks very much! I'm glad to know the videos have helped. :-)
