It became about scoring and not stoping people. Ben Took off and really it was over then. People on the outside could not tell until Billups left but it was over way before Billups got moved out in the Denver trade.

Just by looking at the individual talent of all five players. Everyone except for Tay has been to multiple All-Star games each. Joe D put together that masterpiece from highly doubted and underrated players who came together and formed one of the greatest defensive teams in NBA history. They are the definition of the word "team". Give me a starting five better than them.

All the Celtic and Laker teams in the 60's , the '73 Knicks, the "Showtime" Lakers (especially the '85 team), the 80's Celtics (especially the '86 team), '89 Pistons, '96 Bulls, many Spurs teams, this current Laker team and many more that I can't think of. That '04 team was great but every team that I mentioned (except for the 60's Lakers) were multiple time champions. You're Pistons have been underachivers since '05.

Hell yeah they have. The only team to have 6 straight conf finals appearances and only 1 championship. What can I say, that's my team though.

If they hadn't slacked off they could've easily een the best starting 5 ever, because they made it to the finals in 05 with only 2 reliable bench players. Talent wise they are arguably the best starting 5 ever, but you're right, because they underachieved so much they can't bear that distinction. Sucks, but that's the way it goes in pro sports.
