Born and raised on the Streets of Jersey City, Kennedy Blvd represent. Those streets are no game there, and are still no game. Journal Square can make you nervous as hell at times. I'm a combat Marine, been in two wars, and Jersey City can still make me more nervous than the middle east at times. And the sad thing is I still feel as though no one cares who lives or who dies here. Maybe one day... I'd by this CD and I'd like to buy that Jersey Hat. Long live Kennedy Blvd.....
I must say though that girl @3:16 named Melodee is hella baaaaaad tho aha, fuckin' seXXXy light-skin girl and she a good rapper too, i'd love to have a girlfriend like that haha, beautiful just beautiful hope she has some more songs out aha.

just like the nigga who shot up the Q113 bus and killed two brothas and his stepson on Queens,New York talk about real self destruction damn he's talking he would've shot more people but he ran outta ammo silly ol'chump word up that guy is not a brotha that is a straight up nigga that should rot in prison!!!!!!!!

This is what we need more of not just for Hip Hop the music but for us as a people. Violence has no colors age race man or woman. We choice to point not solve. We are a one human race who told you we are different.
I miss what was Hip Hop in the 80's and 90's now they should just call it the WACK Peace One Love too ALL My People Around The World
i was born in 78 so i was in the self destruction video era,and before i even clicked on this video i was thinking negatively, like this is gonna be garbage, but i retract my thoughts, this was well put together and i really did enjoy it....j.c stand up 201....coming from the 973 jerzy
This is great to see people making this. With all the violence recently in Newark we really need another movement like this. Especially there. Brother's killing brothers. Makes no sense.
He Say " Beat the Government, The Slave Trade, and the Klu Klux Klan... All Of That To Get Killed By A Black Man"! Now that was the best part of this video! I love this remake!
The problem is inherent in rap and hip-hop music itself. The "images" presented in such music are aggressive themselves (i.e. doo-rags, baggy clothes - the types of clothing that gang members wear) as are the way the lyrics are sung. No amount of change to the genre will make it in any way whatsoever "acceptable" or "moderate." Blacks and other minorities should move on to alternate types of music that reinforce positive images, but of course we know that will never happen.
I remember when the original self-destruction came out back in 1988-89 i was in 5th grade at the time even though the re-make of this was by a of up & coming New Jersey MC's all i got to say is good job 100% PERCENT i take my hat off to you guys that performance itself deserves a standing ovation f*ck we all know this needs to be on BET 106 & Park & MTV Jams,MTV2 whatever this needs to be brodcasted.........
EXCELLENT JOB...I VE BEEN SAYING THAT RAPPERS NEED TO REMAKE THIS VIDEO FOR YEARS...WISH YALL COULD JUST GET THIS ON BET CUZ EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAR THIS
Wow! I am a member of the old school when the original Self Destruction was made. So sad that it is more than twenty years later and this is still an issue. I applaud you guys! This makes me proud because it seems as if this generation of rappers are only concerned with money, cars and sex. Nice to see that there are some talented rappers of today that actually give a damn.
OMG can we get the crew up in 2011 to repeat the message in this song..... The youth of today are viciously evil and have no guidance or morals or values and they are STILL killing each other..... Where are their morals and parents???
@cqmickey This song is part of how black people can save ourselves. This is a rally cry, a call to action. I wouldn't want it to change. This remake keeps the classic relevant too. God helps those who help themselves. The universe doesn't work any other way. Peace.
This is what's up for real. I've been waiting 20 years for a collection of artists to take up the torch. I was 15 and very inspired by the original song. Now I am 35 and just as inspired by this version... maybe more so. None of these artists are being pimped by the media or a major label. These are artists direct from the community reiterating a wake-up call which sadly fell on mostly deaf ears the first time around. ANY artist on this song can get free graphics from me. Holla!

@heataz81 Dude, I am entitled to have my opinion, this song is not going to save Black people, only the word of the Most high god....nevertheless I don't like it, all they did is sing the same song changing a few lyrics.....and sometimes its not always a good idea to remake a classic. This is one of those cases...If it makes you feel any better I didn't like the remake of "we are the world" either. Has nothing to do with the content of song, so keep your negative comments to yourself.
@cqgmickey sorry you didnt like it, I was gonna say something nasty and mean, but I know better and I know you do to. Check ot our channel and i hope you find something you like. Peace!

I fucks with this HEAVY! Jersey stand up, I see yall! only 62,000 hits and that little faggot Lil wayne that's got niggas wearing tight ass jeans thinking they bloods, is getting millions of hits, smfh, shit is fucked up!!
Definitely the best remake of this Ive ever heard. That includes the Papoose, Sheek Louch, Uncle Murda joint... Good to see Jungle City kids is still doin what they do. Word.
Loved the original love this and like you am passing all my 35 years of hip hop on to my son. he almost 4 and is only happy rollin in the car with hip hop pounding throu the subs. Love the early Electro compilations from the 80s
God bless you all for remaking the Original and not making a disgrace of it. You did a very good job, keep this going. Its so important. This is so tight the subtle changes and add ons are hot.
seriously?! we're talking about "self destruction" and the first fool is wearing something that promotes self destruction amongst indigenous communities--i'm talking about the objectification of indigenous people as mascots!
My mother told me about the original came out in 89. NOw the violence is at all time high. Mom sad the raperws had positive messages in there raps back then. She said Public Enemy was telling what time it was then. It's sad that our generation don't listen to what our eldersw are warning us about. NOw I see what mom's is saying about us self destructing our selves even more. Cause we don't listen.
i was in 10th grade when the original came out in '89. now at 38 years old i have to say yall did do the original justice. my only thing is it will be sad if we have to make another remake of this song in 2029. i mean, when will we finally learn?
@heataz81 This is AWESOME and so true, and AWESOME. Loved the first one in 89, but this is better. I'm from Jersey City, Kennedy Blvd. and I can support everything you speak of. It's beyond CRAZY there. Rap use to be so positive, but that's GONE! Are you telling me it's not better living in Harlem or the Bronx now? Back in the 70's and the 80's, it was a war zone, and you wouldn't even see a cop there EVER!!! I hate this toughness junk. If you're so tough join the Marines....then we'll see..
I stand and applaud you all. I was fresh in high school when the first one was done. It's great to see there are still hip hop/rap artists out there who truly fight for positiveness.
the guy at 4:11.... forgive me i dont know his name, BUT that man spoke and hit home. im a single dad and i SLAM those words in to my 10 yr old son everyday! God bless
WHY did I have to stumble across this remake by accident?? These artists did the original justice and then some. It's a shame that they didn't get the recognition or airplay some of these other talentless ghetto fool hack "rappers" are getting. Maybe if they had autotuned it, it would have gone viral (sarcasm).
Excellent remake this should be played everywhere forreal. Props to all involved with this project I use to live in jersey city shout out to Kenny Parker
This is my first time seeing this. I love it. I am from JC. I use to teach in Snyder and Lincoln High. I use to play Self Destruction for my students at Snyder all the time. I will always rep JC. I love all my students and I miss all of you.

The rap game today is luke warm not even on fire. When the 80's and 90's era was around we dance and battle with our minds not to mention dance our hearts out. Fast Forward you have women selling ass for record deals and men prostituting themselves for whatever they can get. What a hot azz mess! Now our children are in tune to garbage nothing of any substance they can relate to. If you care nothing abour your own people don't expect people to respect your "Message"......
This was dope and I have much respect! I love hip-hop and this is the music that needs to be aired to the young people like me. Im a Junior in High School but I was blessed to hear rappers like Cool Moe D and Krs One. Mos Def. Society puts a negative display for black people and this is a positive image on America needed that is much needed!
Thinga are gettn worse for our ppl in this place called america United Snakes of America Our condintion as a ppl in whole isnt Good Would U lay your life down for your Brotha/Sista speakin in general Im tired of hate tired of killing tired of the madness depression confusion amongst our ppl Our kids are so Lost walkin around like Zombies we have to Wake Up before its to late Stop Sleepn come out of this Coma were under We have to Find MostHigh Our True God I Luv My People
I loved it. It gave me goosebumps. The message is still the same 20 years later. Great job you guys.

Listen to the real Self destruction ! But overall , This Is ight (:
EyelinerxD16 11 months ago
seriously?! we're talking about "self destruction" and the first fool is wearing something that promotes self destruction amongst indigenous communities--i'm talking about the objectification of indigenous people as mascots!

If you're so tough join the Marines....then we'll see..
havingfun1968 11 months ago
I stand and applaud you all. I was fresh in high school when the first one was done. It's great to see there are still hip hop/rap artists out there who truly fight for positiveness.
