Oldschool WoW is gone. Pre-BC-Wotlk-Cata Tribute: Damaged Dreams

I started playing WoW during its TBC days. I think that, during its TBC days, Blizzard was achieving a good compromise between its difficulty level and becoming more user friendly.

But, in its WotLK days, Blizzard ruined it--suddenly everyone was using the Dungeon Finder to impatiently farm regular instances and heroics and running around with the same blues and purples. And, because of this, the community divided into groups of hyperelitists and casuals with very selfish attitudes.

When I saw this, I sadly realized that Azeroth went from being a challenging land of opportunity to being the land of the giant hamster wheel where everyone became unaccomplished clones.

… and then came Patch 4.0.1’s homogenization of the talent trees and I quickly quit.

The best tribute I've ever seen. You nailed the feeling with both music and video editing. Vanilla + BC were the best things to happen for this game.

this game used to be so much more exciting... you had to work hard to level by completing quests without a guide. You had to look for groups to do raids and instances... not just use a dungeon finder. At lvls 10 - 50 it was quite an achivement to get 1 or 2 blues... someone needs to start a petiton to make 1 or 2 wow pre bc servers and send it to blizzard!!!

@thatkindofguy234 You read my mind man, i stoped playing wow about 8 months ago. I just got sick of the fact that the game became so easy. I fucking hate dungeon finder. I rememberr spending like 2 hours finding a group and running all the way to the dungeon which was on the other side of the world map. Just to get that one item, Now they just "spoon feed you", no effort needed.

WOTLk until 3.1 was fun!

But from 3.2 to 4.2---- its crap.

@Nerxtastic you hit the nail right on the head with that timeline. 3.2 was the exact point of no return for WoW. Vanilla ruled, TBC ruled, Wrath had some issues early on but redeemed them with Ulduar, then 3.2 came and just began the rapid downfall of the game.

I know this video is meant to honor vanilla, but man I miss BC... hell, I even miss wotlk. For all the bad that it was, Cataclysm is the worst expansion by a long shot. WoW is no longer an epic game, where you get a pleasant surprise around every corner. It's now a casual mainstream sellout with comic relief as its last sad attempt to give it some substance.

They could have just kept the cap at 60 and continue to develope

High quality instances like black rock mountain, and not these 15 minute snore instances.

I remember when you could do 10 mans in places like scholomance etc, called gear runs. 5 man scholo used to be realy hard.

Even your top notch raid guilds HAD to run BRD on a weekly basis for rep vendors, black anvil, dark iron forge.....

ah but we can go back there is a private server called classic wow that is pre woltk with 2 different realm one with insta 60 and starting gear epics and other is starting at level 1 with 5 times more xp given and u get all the gear by ur self

Remember that this is an mmorpg the show keeps on going, if they didn't have new expansions then wow would get really boring, imagine if there was never a new expansion everyone would be level 60 and people would stop playing because they wouldn't have anything to do and blizzard wouldn't have the millions of subscribers they have today.
