  • The first one, sleep the same, get up the same, it's pretty hard when you have weird hours at your work. Sometimes I work lates, sometimes I have to get up at 5am. Impossible.

  • Holy Moly sorry but this dude sounds and looks like most depressed man on the planet

  • oh my god, does this guy ever blink?

  • He blinked like once during the whole video. Now I'm too SCARED to sleep.

  • Watching this man talk about sleep debt is curing my depression. ;) IM HEALED! (laughing hysterically)

  • Those eyes... looks like a psycho-killer.

  • EYES THAT STARE INTO YOUR SOUL!!!

  • Too much REM sleep makes me exhausted :o( stupid depression :(

  • @snizzle515151 Getting your sleep pattern working for you is so fundamentally important to helping you to do better with depression. While the research on depression says that it is a cause of sleep problems, it is also true that better sleep habits can help you to better manage depression. i hope you are able to try some new approaches to sleep and that you are successful.

  • I sleep too much . . . I also dream all the time, I dream of interacting with my friends . . . it's ironic, I sleep so much I feel tired during the day

  • Sleeping too much is common with depression - it's usually that or having trouble sleeping enough. It might help you to try a few things if you haven't already. Forcing yourself to get up at a certain hour might obviously help - often an appointment - something as simple as coffee with a friend can help here. Walking with a friend early might help you to sleep more soundly and to get up earlier. Another thing to check out is the possiblity of SAD - check out light therapy if this is an issue.

  • I'm so bad, watching this in my bed, always watch tv in my bed too!

  • The 7 or 8 hours of sleep he quotes is not evidenced based. Every individual requires different amounts of sleep. The other advice is useful.

  • Thanks for your comment. Seven or 8 hours is indeed evidence-based. (See William Dement's book The Promise of Sleep. Dement, a M.D. and Ph.D. is a sleep research pioneer with decades of research at Stanford where he founded the world's first sleep disorders center.) Each person does require a particular amount of sleep but if you are much lower than 7 hours or much higher than 9 you might have a problem and it might be contributing to other issues like depression.

  • Very helpful advice. When I can't sleep, I particularly like to find a re-run of an old sitcom, they really soothe me and I can usually get back to bed right after.
