jason is the better serioul killer but freddy is physically faster then jason. Therfor its like putting a tank on left4dead against a hunter. The tank is strong and if it hits u a few times ur through. but the hunter is fast and a bit powerfull. so he can avoid .. To the teens Jason must have been more like a hero, from the scene at the end when she looks in the river and Jason's mask/head is visible, and she gives him his machete back almost like the whole "bury a warrior with his weapon ritual."
