  • Cheers mate!

  • Thanks mate. great review

  • @Desperate4changing Thanks for watching!

  • 2 dislikes were for the last few seconds

  • @thatguyacrossthelane lol ok. Thanks for watching!

  • go to the basic features first

  • @MrRICHIE288 TechHarvest #177 has a great video on this Gingerbread update. It is much more complete. Thanks for watching!

  • be specific in reviewing

  • Weekend = porn

  • Hey man nice video, I really like your live wp where can i get that?

  • @TheJoesifMusic It is the stock live wallpaper app called Nexus. You should be able to find it online somewhere or the market place to download. It was taken from the Nexus Series Phones. Thanks for watching!

  • Thumbs Up if the Atrix 2 not as good as the Atrix......

  • @PeopleFirstofNevada hopefully they allow unlocking the bootloader. I heard that Verizon will lock down the bootloader for "security reasons" I am waiting though to compare between the atrix 2 vs the samsung galaxy 2.

  • can you please tell me can it play 1080p videos

  • @animeware Yes it does play 1080p video but honestly I can not tell the difference between 1080p and 720p. I guess if I playback on my 1080p monitor I could tell the difference but then that would be tiresome since I would have to copy the 1080p video to the phone for playback when the file is already on the computer ready to be played......but yeah it plays 1080p.

  • @animeware I'm on 2.2 still and it can play back 1080p trailers just fine. I'm not sure if the update will allow the entertainment centre to output 1080p to the TV instead of 720p?

  • Nice overview of 2.3.4! Thanks man.

  • @jeffkoe310 Thanks for watching!

  • Will you tell me how to flash this rom please?

  • @ACE311REBEL I will work on the video tonight. Been sick and busy lately. :/

  • Hey Johnny, I just got the phone today and want to do this update. Will all my newly downloaded apps get erased?

  • @bjybhs8 no they will not.

  • @johnnythegeek1 - Well since I bought the phone yesterday, it already has 2.3.4 already installed. So I guess I'm good to go! Just gotta get the entertainment center kit and a screen protector :)

  • @bjybhs8 I was thinking about getting that entertainment center but I already have the dock. All I really want is the kb and mouse. Do you know if they sell that separately?

  • @johnnythegeek1 I only found the keyboard for $52 on att's website, but the kit is $99 on ebay & att.

  • @bjybhs8 I also might hold out and wait for the new laptop docks that are supposedly coming out and going to be cheaper.

  • hows the battery life on the motorla atrix now? is it better then it being on froyo?

  • @ryda4life415 it is

  • @ryda4life415 it's hard to say with all the streaming I've been doing with my Google Music. I listen to music more now like it was an ipod. On days that I don't use the phone so much I notice that it will last me all day from 8am to 8pm on a single charge of just emails, facebook, and google plus. Before it would last from 8am-6pm.

  • @johnnythegeek1 ooo ok im just asking because im trying to see it compared to my inspire 4g i use it from 10pm full charged to 10pm the next day to about 20% and w/ using internet, full brightnes, listening to more then 1hr of music a day or more, plus calling and texting. + running on gingerbread also.

  • tell you what, i'm so glad they sorted the older MOTOBLUR out, now i have no reservations about the phone :)

  • @philerskine It is a great android device and it will be one of the first to get better.

  • @johnnythegeek1 do you mean that in a general sense or do you have something specific in mind?

  • @philerskine I am hoping that because Google owns Motorola now, all new versions and features will appear or be available on the atrix first. So for example the next iteration of android is the Ice Cream Sandwich and so I expect to see it released on the atrix first out of all the phones out right now.

  • @johnnythegeek1 that would be awesome. would that mean it could become usb-host capable like the Galaxy S2 do ya reckon? i do love google haha

  • @philerskine I hope so. That is another good example of what could happen to the Atrix. The Galaxy S2 is one of those phones by Google that is unbranded and receives the latest and greatest features. All though now all the carriers will have them here in the US.

  • Johnny, this video is why I am going to go with an Atrix. If you connect the mini HDMI cable to a TV does webtop automatically start or is it just your phone's display on the TV screen? Do you know of any bluetooth keyboards and mice available that are compatible with the phone? I think $180+ is a bit too much for the HD Multimedia Dock, or is it not?

  • @bjybhs8 I have a video on the webtop application. Go to my channel and in the search, type in webtop.

  • Where did you find your back ground????? getting my atrix tonight that that is the one i want for sure, that kick ass

  • @bubbadodge07 It comes stock with the gingerbread update. It is a live wallpaper called Nexus. It originated from the Nexus One phones.

  • Help me D: i update my phone but when i booted back up it hadn't actually updated. I'm still on 2.2.2 but when i go to System Update it says there are no updates available. What do i do? I've tried restoring the phone to factory default but it didn't work

  • If i use this rom and use the built-in sync function and the built-in contacts app, can i sync my google contacts to the phone WITH the group information? I ask this because if I use moto 2.2 on my Atrix...it will not sync the ppl that are inside groups...I have to move all my contacts to "My Contacts" on Google...

  • @siuguy I will need to look into that because I think that is an android issue and not so much of a motoblur issue. There are also other contacts manager that takes care of that. there is this episode of a podcast show called "All about Androind" on the TWIT network that reviewed contact managers. You should watch that.

  • @johnnythegeek1 Thanks very much for the reply, I am asking this because I have a DEFY with Moto 2.2 and it can do exactly what i said before...3-rd Party apps like "Go Contacts" surely can help solving the problem but if the built-in thing can do so...it's better. Thanks anyway.

  • i cant add anything from my app drawer to my home screen...i press add to homescreen but then it just cuts back to the home screen and nothing happens! and my in pocket detection doesnt work! any ideas???

  • @36mafiakilltactics when you try adding to the home screen, do you see like a ghost icon? if you do then drag that icon to an empty space. Also, try restarting the phone.

  • @johnnythegeek1 no ghost icon it just cuts right back to the home screen with no icon to move around or w/e...tried restarting it still nothing....i think i read somewhere that if you have other launchers installed that it wont work? which is retarded cause i have my moto homescreen set for the default. so i guess ill try deleting all the other launchers n see what happens......you have any ideas on why my in pocket detection isnt working? it worked once when i first tried it....

  • this profile thing look soo awesome that is a buyer for me since u can hide different things from different people and u pretty much have 21 homescreens lol

  • @shairki Oh yeah I did not think of it like that. Kind of like if a dude has 3 different girlfriends he can have a wallpaper of each one of them and switch up the profiles.

  • @johnnythegeek1 yea that is exactly what i will do but is that only for motorola or al new android gingerbrea phones

  • Damnit! I cant wait for Canada to have this!

  • @AJFedora We have to wait until early November. :(

  • Aghhh, anyone help me, I'm not sure about getting this phone or the Motorola Infuse???... i don't mind the screen size...

  • @DesignerDigital I have not seen the infuse but I personally don't like the touchwiz interface. Of course if you into custom ROM's you can change all that. I have the Samsung Captivate and if you plan on watching a lot of HD content and shooting HD content with the 8mp camera and 1080 video, the Super AMOLED screen on the infuse is amazing. Power wise the infuse is only 1 cpu and the atrix is 2. That will be noticeable down the line when more and more developers make more dual core apps.

  • Thanks to u I'm am now going to get this phone

  • @Dougcom14 Thanks for watching!

  • Omg I love this update

  • Thanks a lot for making this. I was hesitant to get the phone, but this update pretty much solves all the cons I had for it. Subbed and liked :D

  • @MartinDF Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks nice

  • @yellaman123 Thanks for watching!

  • Amazing tutorials!! Liked and subscribed! I'm planning to get the Atrix this week and this will be my first android phone. I was wondering what and how you got that live wallpaper. With the colors moving and what not

  • @XTwyliteX Thanks for watching. I plan on making another video on rooting and putting a custom ROM on it soon. The live wall paper is a stock wallpaper called Nexus. It is a standard Gingerbread wallpaper and came with the recent update.

  • Thank you so much for this vid. I was about 95% sure about buying this phone but after this i'm 110% sure. definitely gonna sub.

  • @ChaosxKamikaze Thanks for watching! If you want to see something interesting and somewhat related, I have a video explaining how I bricked my Atrix and had to send it back to motorola. When I get it back I plan on making another video on how to root the atrix and my thoughts on rooting and custom ROM-ing and what not.

  • My attrix. Is super fast

  • promity sensor is kinda faulty..experience that?..

  • @MrJAE288 Not sure. I bricked my atrix doing a flash back to stock. You can watch my other video where I explained it. I am waiting for the RMA.

  • @johnnythegeek1 I did the exact same thing after I updated. Still waiting to get my phone back from motorola.

  • one more thing lol.. i know i must be buggin you.. lol.. how do u copy and paste?. i was trying to copy/paste a couple of sentences from a article i was reading on my phone.. i kept tapping the screen i get no options to do so.. thanks

  • @MrJAE288 yeah it's kind of a drag now to copy and paste. What I have done is long press the sentence and choose select all and adjust the highlight adjustment bar if you need to. Once you have what you want highlighted, long press an empty area with no text and the options for copy should come up. It's an extra step but I guess it's for that adjustment slider bar they added.

  • what are some tips u recommend to charge the battery such as a app like battery doctor or something similar... im coming off the iphone4.. and on it ur able to see ur usage and every time u charge it.. the usage resets itself.. on the atrix i charged up the last couple of nights and and when i check the usage i notice that it still indicates like 18hrs of usage.. that threw me off.. i just want to maximize the battery life.. thanks

  • @MrJAE288 like almost anything with the battery it is good to exercise the battery by letting it drain all the way down to 20%. It is also good to unplug it when it is fully charged. Just as a precautionary measure in case the device miscalculates the rate of discharging and recharging. There is a notification setting of when your phone is fully recharged. You can try that out to see if you like it but many complain that the notification goes off in the middle of the night.

  • hey johnny /faux123 posted a vid of cyanogenmod7 on atrix its still in beta testing and lots of bugs but wow it looks sweet! !! check it out thanks!; )

  • @LTDanno360 looks pretty sweet. I will wait for a more stable version.

  • @LTDanno360 it is interesting that faux123 has nothing but SF4 videos and 1 Atrix video. lol.

  • did u notice any difference in battery life?.. i feel like my battery is efficient.. any tips?

  • @MrJAE288 I did not notice an increase or a decrease. But the way I see it though is that it must be more efficient in power management because with all the new graphics and animations (eye candy) there should be more power usage for it. Since it the battery power is no worst then it must be doing a good job at managing power. That's how i see it. One misconception is the GPS being on. It does not run unless an app is using it so it's ok to leave on. I use low brightness and auto end tasks.

  • after I updated, it feels slow...framerate seems lower too. Anyone having this issue? I thought gingerbread was suppose to do the opposite?

  • @hellothisismike That is strange. it did not seem slow to me. Try running the task manager and killing all the apps. Then do a reboot.

  • Wait so did you brick it? If you did sorry its my fault lol

  • @spooky00o It's my fault really for not researching or thinking it through. I made another video explaining what happen. Check it out!

  • @johnnythegeek1 alright thanks!!

  • @spooky00o Oops I mean while trying to make a "how to flash back to original ROM" video.

  • you know that the camera now has a panoramic mode

  • @isaias617995 Yes and I have used it. Works Great!

  • Hey did you make that flash back to stock video?

  • @spooky00o working on it now.

  • @spooky00o ok so I bricked my phone while trying to make this video. I messed up when I unplugged the phone before it finished flashing it. The program I was using to flash it said that it finished a process and showed a 100%. I thought it meant the entire process was done but it really meant just that one process. So I bricked it and I can not recover it. I now have to RMA. Epic Fail :/

  • How did u change the notification bar ti black

  • @davisdalton34 I don't know how. It just changed itself to black.

  • How did you get the black google bar?

  • @ranesmwk I did not do anything to it. That is how it is.

  • @ranesmwk its a google + bar not the google search bar

  • howd u flash back from gingerblur to get to gingerbread?

  • @XSessive Long story short, I did it the hard way by flashing all the way back to 4.1.26 and slowly, one by one update to 4.5.91. I lost all apps, settings, and messages. I had to do this because I tried to manually flash the official Gingerbread ROM over the Gingerblur ROM resulting in a Boot Loop :/ epic fail. I may make another video about my experiences.

  • @johnnythegeek1 dammm sounds complex got my vote if ya make a vid on itbut for now if root inst avaliblethen ill guess il wait

  • Use launcher pro, smooth homescreen transition trust me.

  • @sj31418 Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that out once I am done using and making videos of the stock stuff.

  • this is gonna be a silly question but remember how you got it to give you your location when you took the picture? yea how'd you do that?

  • @jcoolio1 Hit the menu button (next to the home button) and the option for auto location is in tags menu. I actually did not turn it on. It was enabled automatically.

  • @punyparker01 Hey I found the setting! I don't know if it was always there for the older versions but it is in the Sound Settings and under Haptic Feedback. Once you disable that, the Android button no longer vibrate! Check it out and let me know if that is what you were looking for. Also mention what version you have.

  • I've been running gingerblur with go launcher, (rooted and unlocked) for about a month now and just wanted to know how this update affects battery life and signal strength. Is it worth the update? Thanks man.

  • @filthyj24 I have not fully tested the battery life and signal strength just yet. I have to give it a couple of weeks of normal use to gauge the battery life. I think it ends up being the same because even though there have been improvements to power management, there are certainly much more eye candy to render now. Just my thoughts on that.

  • @johnnythegeek1 Thanks, that's the only thing keeping me from making the jump. I've read over on xda that gingerbread is optimized for dual core as where froyo only operates on a single core, therefore it sucks down less juice than gb.

  • @filthyj24

Not true, in fact users are reporting generally better battery life after the gingerbread update.

  • @punyparker01 I read that there is an app called streak vibrations and a rooted phone is needed to run that apparently. Let me look into it.

  • Nice review... But i didn't see how the media player looked liked...are there any changes from the stuck media player for music and video?

  • @marshaldaniel1999 Ah yes perhaps I will make a second video on more of the apps this week. I wanted to also try and see if I can root it again since I lost all that.

  • how did you get that to work did ya just unfreeze your bloatware?

  • @LTDanno360 Oh man I will have to make another video on what I had to go through but basically I soft bricked my phone and had to reflash it all the way back to the first motorola version then slowly update it back to the new version OTA. Epic fail on my part but I got it working now and I will continue to try and re-rooting and custom ROM-ing it.

  • Cant wait for root and hdmi hack
