  • I'm looking to buy one of these used, and I have Win7 Pro x64. How hard was it to get drivers?

  • @MyNameIsBucket The processor (at least the Intel Core Duo T2500 2.0GHz) in mine is not 64 bit compatible. But, I do like the computer, and the Windows 7 drivers were easy to obtain from Windows Update or Lenovo's driver site.

  • They should of kept that epic bootscreen

  • I got a Sony Vaio

  • I love the build 6801! the boot loader is soo aero!!!

  • I see progressive sticker on the laptop

  • how did yu get that fingerprint thingy at the beginning??

  • Using Windows 7's built in biometric software my built in fingerprint reader.

  • 7600 is different

  • my windows 7 is so different and I have windows 7 ultimate build 7600.

this is one of the oldest beta versions, right?

  • I have 7600 now too, it's the final edition. 6801 is about a year and half old, but there are older ones.

  • How do you enable that pre-boot fingerprint password thing. I have a ThinkPad T61u and I was wondering how to enable it! Thanks ahead of time!

  • It's in the Finger Print reader software available from Lenovo. Look in the options, and you should see something about pre-desktop scanning.

  • I currently have vista and i have a space set aside for a different system but i don't know how i was hoping u could message me some quick instructions plzz :D

  • why is the start up sound like vista it suppost to change that!

  • no they didnt change it

  • no its fake cuz when he starts it it s sopose to have a bar loading

  • No, this is a very early alpha build of Windows 7. This is 6801 and is not fake. I now have the final edition, 7600 gold.

  • okk

  • hey como tienes esa barra yo tengo el mismo windows pero me viene la barra como la de windows vista ? como es eso ?

  • build 7600 is booting 2 times faster

  • In average how much memory does windows 7 use in Windows Explorer?

  • Right now it is 12MB. High end you might see it at 25 or 30, unless you have an outlandish amount of wndows open.

  • LUCKY. my thinkpad is an old t30 and it is really bad with xp which IT CAME WITH.

  • Really fast boot up than vista. when the final version come out?? and is there a 64 bit version??

  • Final release date is currently set to October 22nd 2009 in the US. There is a 64 bit edition.

  • i like that bootscreen, is there anyway to use it for build 7600?

  • There are some files that you can move around, but it really isn't worth all the time.

  • microsoft window 7 ultimate is the 7600 build

  • Well, 7600 is Windows 7 RTM.

  • i bet it wont be... in vista everyone said the build 6000 was RTM.. but it was really build 6001 and then build 6002 came out... i bet for 7 t will be 7601 and 7602

  • woha i didnt know it booted like that since i only have had the rc and build 7600, the newer boot is better

  • Where did you get build 7600?!

  • torrent, from one of teh videos here on youtube

  • bitorrent

  • u dont need any.. but if u have no OS.... then u need to download 7 from a pc with a OS and brun it to a disk then put that in ur computer

  • nope

  • wow how much ram does ur laptop have?

  • At this time it had 2GB in it, now it has 4GB. DDR2 667MHz

  • you focus in too much in your video. you should of had a better handle on the camera, but good video nonetheless.

  • love the wallpaper do you have a link?

  • @tigerintermusic, the wallpaper should be one of the ones included in the WIndows 7 beta.

  • the boot screen i have is not like yours.

  • What version of Windows do you have--what build? They're all different.

  • Windows 7.

For testing purposes only. Build 7000

  • how you can install 2 windows in a computer??

  • Partition your hard drive-set up a boot loader-and install!

  • what is boot loader??

  • A file that specifies how your computer boots up. Like- which operating system, and how much time you have to choose it. ( if you have more than one installed. )

  • ur voice is annoying

  • i have all the mircosoft ops systems on my macpro with 5tb drive

  • now, will this crash as much as vista

  • Vista has never crashed for me! I don't know what you people are talking about, on decent hardware Vista was great. But no, I've never had either operating system crash on me.

  • can u tell me where to get it please

  • Whats it like with system resources? I think the only thing I do not like about Vista is how resource hungry it is. Also, any comatibility problems with games etc?...

  • It's better, but not totally XP. Don't expect it to be, there is so much more than Windows XP, and technology has come a long ways since then. I would suggest 1.5GB or more of RAM for Windows 7. Compatibility is better than Vista, equal to Windows XP. I am not a gamer, so I have not tried games, but based on application compatibility, I would say you'd be okay. Maybe partition your hard drive, and try a beta copy of it for a few days. Let me know if you want a download. I'll help ya!

  • Thanks dude! I would like to install it, but it seems you can't download it anymore! (unless i'm looking in the wrong places) :-(

  • It looks worryingly like Vista to me. I really hope this isn't a case of 'lets just change how the menus look then call it a new operating system'...

  • Basically, this is Windows XP with the Windows Vista/7 look to it. I've been using it for months now, and love every minute of it, it's faster than XP Pro.

  • is it possible to have vista and windows 7 on one computer not just 7 or not just vista

  • Oh yeah, I have Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 on my primary computer right now.

  • how difficult is it to put windows 7 on you pc and if i do what do i have to risk if anything

  • Very very very simple - you need to back up any data, because you are doing a clean install of a new operating system. Back everything up, install, and enjoy!

  • I know it's a beta but they say that it has a super fast boot speed, but that didn't show anything faster than what mine does now.

  • Totally depends on the installation and hardware, and this is an old build now. Beta 1 boot up time is a lot faster. I'll have a video about that soon.

  • Air hockey rules

  • And why would you even respond to someone who calls it a Photoshop? Youtube is full or retards.

  • So how exactly did you partition your HD for Windows 7? I have a T60 with XP and about 50gb left. I don't want to mess with Partition Magic because the last time I did that I messed up my system. And did you keep your hidden recovery partition?

  • I deleted the recovery partition. Windows XP does not have a built in partitioner. I would suggest partition magic, but be very careful. I'm not a fan of the software, but works. I wish the Windows setup disk had a partitioner, but it does not yet. Good luck, and nice laptop.

  • "That should prove it's not real". ,nice xD

I'm actually downloading this now, from a seriously-non-piracy-site (...), and it looks cool. they say it uses less system resources than vista, can you say it does? looks cool tho ;)

  • Yes, it uses far less resources, at least for me.

  • some question

why did windows make a new os??

vista isnt that old and windows 7 is the same vista just fixed so why didnt they just fix windows vista in service pack 2??

is it for the money or is it really different and if its different is it Faster,Better, or more stable then vista is?

  • Windows 7 has a lot more stuff in it, networking, media stuff, and all together productivity. It's totally different than Vista, even if it does not look much different. It's much faster, much more compatible, and much more stable.

  • look at microsofts history of releases before XP notice how close they are together (95(1995) 98(1998) SE(199) ME + 2000(2000) vista is coming 3 this yr lol

  • hey are gonna make a service pack 2 for vista but windows 7 is the newer and more efficient windows yet the difference will be on performance and drivers for any pc vista cant be installed on any pc and windows 7 can......

  • ohh soo vista sp2 is just for the ppl that are ganna stay with vista?

ehh il still get windows 7 looks like it has some features iv never seen before

  • i have windows 7 i like it more than vista and yes vista sp2 is for those that continue to use it...windows 7 are for those that want more out of microsoft

  • k but i wanted to know just one thing

idk if your a gamer but if i were to install windows 7 how would i install graphic card drivers?

theres xp and vista drivers but would vista drivers work with windows 7?

thats the only thing thats been holding me back from installing it

  • I read, Windows 7 got a lot more drivers pre-installed than Vista, so if your card works with XP or Vista, it probably will work on Windows 7 too :)

  • Vista didn't get as good as Microsoft wanted. Not so many sold, etc. I got Vista, it's not really that good........ People stick to Windows XP, probably afraid to upgrade^^. Windows 7 looks really cool though. I'm getting it :DD

  • i am using this same build its not fake

what Microsoft have done is just built windows 7 off Vista, to maintain Application Compatibility and Drivers so they don't have the same problems Vista had when it was first released - windows 7 is vista done right

i love the new task bar though

    and the updated explorer

and all my applications/games run fine

  • oh, wow, windows vista done right? i can't wait to get it, thanks for the info-i am happy to know i can use my vista drivers.

  • lol, people have trouble still using XP, and worse on Vista, and now Windows 7 is way different, heck I think the Vista one looks better, its true the Windows look, Windows 7 is straying from the original Windows GUI, everything except for Windows 3.1, etc.

  • FYI, Windows 7 is allot better then Vista and they kept compatibility by using the same Kernal, you can run Vista drivers on 7, and all applications run fine with no issues

and the boot time is improved heaps it starts up as fast as XP, and its barely different to Vista Microsoft didn't change it that much

start menu is still the same, just the task bar theme is different

  • Well, I am sticking with Vista, I am not going to upgrade to an OS thats still in beta stages.

Well, whats with the new OS anyway? Why create Vista, and then create Windows 7? Why not just waited til Windows 7 comes out?

  • bcus ppl dont want to w8 8 years for them to release a new OS look at ubuntu they release new OS upgrades every 6 months (they r like new OS's)

  • lol, well, look at the time between XP and Vista, and many are still reluctant to upgrade to Vista, even though its not a beta OS anymore.

  • erm i would say the reason people are reluctant to upgrade is bcus of all the bad review of vista, why would you want to pay all that money for something that may be crapper than the OS you have.... i bet that XP user will upgrade to win7 quickly bcus of all the good reviews its got!

  • well, I have Vista, I wasn't reluctant to upgrade, b/c its either this or OS X, but if I was still on XP, and saw 7, I wouldn't upgrade to it, b/c it supposed to have higher system requirements than Vista.

  • HAHA you dork where have you being reading? ok ok lets see the os x kernel is newer than the windows one (windows wont swith to a newer kernel because when apple switched to OS X it wasnt a smooth transition) and windows 7 is going to have LESS resource consumption.

  • Well, I am not going to switch to OS X b/c I am not a MAC person, and I am not going to upgrade right to Windows 7, b/c I just upgraded to Vista.

  • I wouldn't trust the fingerprint scanner, either, b/c if that thing gets dirty or can't read your finger print, your kinda screwed.

  • You can press esc and use a password too, if you have that feature enabled. (I always do)

  • IBM nice safe guard, lol.

    good idea, lol

  • I personally wouldn't trust running stuff under beta software, I am sticking with Vista, until Windows 7's official release.

  • I usually always 100% agree. I installed this as just something to fool around with, and I loved it. I have not had one problem with it, and it works great, so I thought I might as well use it full time. I still have Vista installed though, on a different partition.

  • granted that, but I prefer Vista's look over Windows 7.

  • Yeah I have windows 7 and I like it so far better than Vista.

  • WAIT WAIT! so UR saying, that this pre beta thing is even better than vista sp1?!??!

  • Thanks for posting these videos... I wonder what it runs like on an i7 and an X58 board.
