I've used Windows Vista and Windows 7 and I can tell you that Vista seems much more prone to problems and feels so much slower. I've upgraded people's computers to Windows 7 and they've never came back to me wanting me to fix it again. It's much better.
Vista was a little annoying at SP1, but when SP2 came, it was a big improvement, and since I'm more literate using Vista, it's really not so bad, i really don't mind UAC, windows 7 is better in some aspects, but vista was a huge step from XP
So the people were brainwashed into using vista because of some features they didn't know. Vista was and is shit. Windows 7 is good. That has corrected the problems of Vista which didn't like hardware or software and which was full of annoying bugs. Also Vista is slow.
I actually like vista. At it's present state (SP1, SP2, and all other updates) running on a stout system, like my gaming pc, it's a pretty graceful OS. I really just like the way it looks better than windows 7 to be honest. I don't like the flat taskbar and small start button in 7. I think they had it right in vista, but had to change the look to set 7 apart. Plus aero seemed softer and more subtle in vista
Loved my Vista O/s until it committed sepuku (Hari Kari for all of you in Rio Linda) then went to Ubuntu 10.10 to have a working computer. Just re-did a friend's newbie sister last night on an e-machines ET 1300 series desktop last night. Too many "free downloads" gave her a ransom ware that didn't let me use emachines own restore program. She is now Linux, enjoying a "faster computer" as part of the bargain. Dr. Shalit, a/k/a Johnny Linuxseed
It was good enough. People who were ripping it didn't really know what the hell they were talking about. However Windows 7 is the perfection of Vista. There's really no point of staying with XP anymore. With no support for DX 11 Windows XP is worthless.
I think Vista was better then what people gave it credit for but still not perfect...it was huge leap with all kinds of features and I would take it over XP anytime because of all the features on it....I mean do people forget at how unsafe XP was with viruses and how it to locked up, also how about Windows ME???Remember those days???When I think of ME I think of the New Coke...:o
Obviously if you use it just ONE time it's going to seem amazing. It's when you have it for some time and the glitches, and programming errors happen that you hate it.
Was using Vista from 2006, with 2gigs of ram, was happy with it. It was more stable and secure than XP and mos importantly had updated interface. Was the best version of windows at the time. I love Win7 now (which is basically Vista underneath). I miss Vista's explorer though, was a little bit better.
Free energy has been here all along ,But the Oil coporations life depends on covering this up,Go to LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM and get the blueprints for a genuine magnet motor ,Start the energy revolution!
I have a dual core vista compatible. (Installed Vista)
I have used it for about 2 months then suddenly I got the BSOD(Blue screen of Death) and I always recover it by using the Vista Installer to recover but for a time it is still crashing so I get back to XP SP3.. The Best OS if you have up to date Unti-Virus.
These people didn't even get to use Vista for themselves, they were just told about the features of it and possibly shown some previews, which of course were meant to look good. If the people in this ad were to install Vista on their home computers they wouldn't be giving it a 10.
Also, every IT person I speak with that are friends agree..they hate VISTA. Oh also, not only games but my programs do not run properly. I am tired of having to make changes EVERY time I boot my computer or when it decides (even after disabling) to make changes from the updates. I had no choice, I wanted XP but, no new computer was available with XP only VISTA. Needless to say..for the price I paid and the specs that I am suppose to have..I got ripped off!!
One answer: You are R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D! YAY. Can you say it again? You are R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D! YAY. Can you say it again? You are R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D! YAY. Can you say it again?
I hate Vista...It has given me nothing but trouble since day one. My computer is opt for games, numerous programs, etc. However, I NEVER CAN PLAY ONE GAME ON IT. Why? Because there are several processes that are taking a so much memory. Everything I was told to do does not work. I am Constantly losing my taskbar icons. So to get them back I have to go through all kinds of procedures just to get them back. Plus, rebooting at least 2 to 3 times. It has caused nothing but trouble.
You are wrong in so many ways and you don't even know that. I guess ignorance is your thing? I mean you listened to the Mac ads, "Hello I am Vista, accept/deny" crap right? I mean most that said they just recently transitioned have (ones who are fairly computer illiterate). ATM I'm enjoying my OS(Vista Ultimate X64), offers me tons more than your 8 year old OS (oh and I have a dock too). At least I know there are still people willing to pay for updates...
I think the best part to Vista is that it plain sucks. You can only use it if you're a narb and don't do anything but facebook...
I hate to be leaning towards one side, but after literally using 23 different Vista computers that /failed i've given up. Windows is dumb and they simply copied the dock from Mac, so pathetic... Microsoft better make up for it next time around or they are though.
Mac was fail up until they used Unix kernels for their OS. They haven't changed anything for 8 years... also, not doing anything but facebook would be your average Mac user.
I for one use Windows, cause they offer something like gaming, 3D modelling, scripting/coding that for sure your Mac fail at (look at all their OS's up until OSX).
Talking about stealing stuff, Apple is going to court because of copyrighted patents used in 90% of the iPhone (one which is Multitouch).
If you've gone through 23 failed computers I'm gonna go ahead and say your doing something wrong. I'm in IT, and I've served time in Help Desk and troubleshooting positions.
At a school I worked at, the people I helped most were "regulars." They just didn't understand how to care for a computer, such as properly shutting it down, etc.
Call me crazy, but I am also convinced that some people have auras, magnetic fields, something around them that just breaks phones, computers, watches, etc.
It's All BS go talk to someone who knows computers and OS's and they'll tell you that XP is Better! Vista is very hard on your computer and It's just all around not good.
You obviously aren't one of those who know computers or OS's. Win Vista is new, of course it is going to require a greater system specs and yes its a great OS. You wouldn't run Crysis on a single GPU, poor amount of RAM and an outdated video card.
So why are OS's an exception to that?! Vista offers DX10 (soon to be also DX11), better dual core support, much more stable x64 OS than the XP 64bit bastard child, nice new UI look, superfetch, readyboost etc. Ahhh you keep your XP...
Seriously, every single person I come by who dislikes Vista doesn't have a plausible reason and it's something that can easily be fixed. The reason - People are so experienced with XP, and when they switch to Vista they feel inferior. You just have to get used to it. The amount of crashes in Vista is FAR LESS than those in XP. Research a little. Many things, like the annoying security features, can be disabled or customized. Not to meantion Vista is better for games.
I hate these commercials...Vista when it came out sucked and is still flawed (and, yes I tried it out and hate it). I'm sure the next version of Windows will be fine. Remember when windows millennium came out what a hunk of crap that was? Then XP came out and it was a good solid operating system (well, after service pack 2 lol). I'm sure Windowz 7 Service Pack 2 will be a great OS. I'm saving my money for it ;-)
What was technically wrong with XP before SP2? You just have heard that SP2 was GREATLULZ! You're an idiot. Apart from security fixes, the lead kernel build is nearly identical. And don't get me started on your ignorance of Vista. Switch to Mac like all of the other people who suck at computers.
You sound like you took that personally lol. I'm a computer programmer, you have no right calling anyone an idiot if you don't know what was in SP2. So what if the kernal wasn't changed! Works fine on my computer and I can work WITHOUT upgrading to VISTA. What are you, some kind of Microsoft whore that likes everything they put out no matter how much it hurts when they shove it up your ass? :-) You are probably one of the morons in the commercial. Now go jerk off to VISTA loser ;-)
That's an old ad strategy: "I didn't believe, then I tried it and it really works".
Sucks.
Nobody would agree to appear in a commercial playing a complete idiot. Unless they pay you. And a paid testimony is in my honest oppinion, something ethically questionable.
those mac ads, their "info" probably comes from getting their highest end mac and comparing it to a low end pc with vista on 1gb ram, 1.5 gighertz, a computer that can't game pretty much
that's why they don't mention gaming
there was cnet compairson between a high end laptop running xp to macbook with osx, pc won
I have Vista 64bit, it runs great, no crashes, rock solid, I do a lot of work with Maya 2008 Unlimited 64bit, Photoshop, and of course tons of gaming. It offers me stability, dependability, and of course my dx10 games on it rock.
I have vista and i love it. my friends all say that it SUCKS and that it'll crash like 5 times a day. Ive had my new computer for around a month now and it came with vista. so far it has only crashed once, it runs videogames well (eventhough im a console gamer), it works fast, and the style is great. yeah, sure, it can get annoying with the "are you sure" crap but its a good program and believe it or not its safer than xp.
Vista is fine if you customize things, play with compat mode, disable uac. Vista-64 has far more driver support than XP-64. Vista 64 is best if you want to run <4gb of ram.
I don't like how much Vistas over head has but if you have a good machine it's fine.
I personally tripple boot my main machine with Vista-64,XP-32,Kubuntu-32(compiz fusion DM) and I pick different ones for different reasons that are obvious, XP for less overhead, Vista for fancy features and DX 10, linux for it's speed.
Why pay for a GUI on top a bug infested system? If you want the cutting edge in aesthetics on top a stable system... If you're tired of paying for software that you'll never truly own... If you live by the philosophy that software is only as good as the community which creates it and perfects it, then why not free yourself from M$ oppression? Linux is knocking at your door.
Again falling short! Whats the wonderful things these people could do with this Mojave? Point out atleast one or two. All they say is "It is awesome" "I could do great things", but how exactly? I myself have Vista but I don't find anything in it thats not there in XP? Actually XP's much better in atleast not popping out error issues constantly. Then why do I have Vista? Because the store where I bought laptop gave no option, but I have other XP comps with me & I use them more often than vista.
I don't see what they're trying to prove by covering Vista? I guess they know that everyone noticed how much it sucks. Why not interview people who used Vista huh?
meh i hate microsoft but i like bill gates hes smart apple is by far the best thing ive ever invested in the i mean the mac pro can reach 30 grand for top of the line stuff 32GB of ram who the hell needs that but its available just check out the apple store and mess around with the options you can get with the mac pro youd be surprised vista is garbage thats why there releasing the windows 7 mac is reliable and stable no bugs mac are for developers not M$ noobs.
you gotta be kidding, thats all apple does. apple supposebly never freezes or crashes, well it does. all macs are, are weak computers, that cant do much.
all the commercials are lies trying to trick people into buying macs.
i never have problems like they say there is in the stupid commercials, my computer has never crashed, it has never froze.
the cancel or allow thing.. ya not as bad as the commercial says i get it when ever i start some kind of security thing.
i got to admit, i like some of the multimedia stuff of mac, and they come free with it, unless they are thrown into the price making it more.
but i can still buy hi end software programs, to edit movies, and pictures.
i do lots of animation and i can buy programs that run flawlessly on pcs that cartoon producers use, software that isnt availabe on macs. mac is to interested in looks then power. it also looks kinda babyish
Your fucking stupid dude. Mac is the industry standard for television and film. Trust me, I know. You obviously dont know about anything that your talking about. Macs have more than iMovie. They have Final Cut Studio and other award winning programs. And BTW... The Mac Pro's have 8 cores. So go fuck yourself.
yeah the macs have 8 processors for $3000 fucking dollars, the cheapest pc i could have bought with 8 processors was $629, and it came with a 20" lcd display, 500 gb harddrive and 4 gb of memory, and the processor speed was 2.5 while the mac was 2.8.
of coarse i opted for the $1800 one with a tetrabite harddrive (1000gb) not even sure if mac goes that big. 6gb of memory NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT graphics card.
mine kicks the top end macs ass, and mine isnt top end pc. i got the better buy cheaper
Buy a copy and Final Cut PRO and run them on Both and tell me what you think. The right combo of hardware and software makes the computer valuable to me.
As a video editor, Vista runs perfect. Its about your hardware more than OS when it comes to Final Cut as well as Adobe Premier... I use both with vista and XP as our studios run both OS including OSX.
also lots of people found mac wasnt what its cracked up to be. terrible buggy updates, security issues. remember all the problems iphone had dead spots, then charging for loner phones, when the problem was caused by apple.
lots of people complain about the volume being terrible for talking to someone.
lots of phones freezing, and terrible updates not working.
ya these are problems lots of people complained, apple tried to hide it, the media got to it.
i bought an iphone last week and there were 2 dead pixels and light leakage and i had to argue with 6 different reps before i could get a replacement for a DAY OLD PHONE
lord architect william gates would never do sucha thing!
if you have vista and you complain it runs like shit, YOUR COMPUTER IS A SHIT BOX. i have 2 laptops and 2 pcs running on vista and the grand total of crasheds on all those computers is 0. you poor fucks need to get something better than 1.5ghz and 1 gig ram.
as a lead IT guy for a medium size corp. let me just say that no way does vista offer easy way to do tweaks to a system. xp pro is by far a superior OS. just running a simple network is a pain in the but. it either works or doesnt on vista. i love the graphics and the theory but for a guy who has to do anything deeper than read an e-mail it sucks.
No one ever said Vista doesn't look good. The Graphics are awesome but these people didn't have to actually install or use the OS for long.
Vista has to "dial home" to Microsoft at least once every three months. So what happens when Seattle gets taken out by a Chinese nuke? If MS ever has a catastrophe our computers will stop working.
Seriously, we don't want to be dependent on these clowns for the continued operation of OUR computers.
wow lol ill be the first to say i hate the show punk'd and i would have threw the laptop in there faces and started yelling for ashton whatever......
lol
personaly i like vista, just has alot of bugs, too many... And u would never get xp because personally it feels outdated. Windows 7 better be alot better. Vista is good though, just crap crap bugs, ESP the iPhone, now that were talking about bugs.
I have had Vista for a year now in my 2 gig of Ram Laptop. I have done all the updates and Patches available to date. Two things I do not like about Vista: 1. When using the applications that make vista the NEW thing, It uses around 1.2-1.5 Gig of ram just sitting there. 2. If I run a single application vista's processes cause constant Page-filing so my hard drive is constantly spinning. Microsoft's Fix: Turn things off. Why have it at all then. As an Experienced User I Give Vista a 2 of 10.
It's funny how users will jump on the "vista-is-a-piece-of-shit" bandwagon without knowing why it sucks. Yes, it has its crashing problems and it is not as fast as XP, but beyond that, I bet not one of those people could explain exactly what makes Vista the "incredibly horrible" OS that everyone perceives it as being.
eh this is so stupid. These people are asked that they think of vista, they say its shit fair enough. But then there shown "mojave" which is actually just vista but renamed differently, so these people are either blind or they've never actually used vista bcos they didnt realise mojave was just vista. Whatever they were shown on that laptop screen must have looked like vista, so why did they go from hating vista to loving it? they must have known they wree both same thing..its just stupid. :S
I'll admit that Microsoft is far ahead of most of it's competition, however, when they released Vista it was very premature and underdeveloped. They focused on making it look better and not on how to make it function more efficiently. Most of the time, you have to have a mid to top end system to even run Vista Efficiently. Most people are still stuck with DDR 1 512 RAM.. while vista recommends 2 of DDR2. Until it's more streamlined, people will hate it, simply put. Otherwise you don't know OS's
most people are stuck with ddr1? in that case most people are poor tramps...ddr1 is cereal box prize cheap, i dont believe anyone has ddr1 anymore. a gb of ddr2 is like £10...whoever has ddr1 must have bought thier computer pre-21st century.
... I have a friend who has DDR1 RAM on a Sony Desktop she bought back in '04 and it is certainly not cheap. DDR1 in comparison, is much more expensive than DDR2 which is manufactured more, lowering the price... In fact, lots of people are still stuck with DDR1 because they can't afford to get newer comps
"I'll admit that Microsoft is far ahead of most of it's competition, "
huh? are you serious?havent u seen a mac before?ore a ubuntu?apple introduced did what microsoft's vista is just starting to implement now 10 years ago!!all the indexing thingy, the GUIs...apple is way forward..
Oh yeah, the fact that it makes you jump through hoops just to prove you have a valid copy of Windows isn't a big deal. The fact that if you don't prove you have a valid copy it disables your own hardware is just a minor annoyance. And also the fact that many of your old applications that worked fine in XP won't work in Vista doesn't turn off any decent computer user at all.
In short, Vista sucks balls. My friend's laptop is bricked because of that piece of shit.
die hard microsoft fan, vista is great ive never had any issues with any of the hardware, software or security its great..ive tried both mac and linux flavors..they still have quite a journey ahead of them before they compare to microsoft..
Good for you, who has the money to buy new shit to work with it, all my apps, and plugins I use for my CG animations don't work with Vista, b/c they aren't made for the version of 3DS MAX thats for Vista.
WOW bunch of fuckin idiots... im telling you wtf... i love how people judge things before trying them... made them look stupid... i understand i kinda like vista it crashes more than xp i know that... but its still pretty good, nothing a good update wont fix lol
They make a very valid point. People out there are way to ignorant and believe everything they hear. Still its not a very good way to get people to buy there product. I'm running Vista 64bit and I love it. I run into problems time to time but it's mostly do to software publishers and hardware manufacturers not puting out up to date compatible drivers.
No they don't make a valid point because the reasons people have for hating Vista are not going to be found from a few minutes of use while being helped with a trained tutor.
it just proves that the average consumer is, in general, an idiot. vista is bloated, and there is no reason to "upgrade" to it right now. "oh boy x86 OS! i can have lots of ram!" - ever hear of 64-bit xp? linux? guess not...
Never had any issues with Vista. It is so good that it installed on a not so good hard drive that XP would not. It has never crashed on me! It even runs a ton of games designed for 95 on 98. The media is not always right. As you may already know.
And I wonder why they didn't get some techies in there! NOT. FUCK YOU MICROSOFT! I HATE ON YOUR PRODUCT AS I USE IT! I'd much rather have a MAC. Treating your noobs like noobs is so not the move to get people on your side in your battle for computer supremacy.
The whole fact that MS grabbed "USERS" to look at mojavie is what makes this completely stupid. The users parrot all the information they have heard from users of vista and administrators. Tricking users into believing its a new OS is not a difficult task. Label it whatever you want vista/mojavie/assclown its the same crap, increased requirements just to support the OS, lots and lots of incompatibilities, etc. I saved my company thousands of dollars by telling the owners not to upgrade
I use Vista. And it blows. I'm a software engineer, dual screens. 4gig of memory and a video card to support 6 instances of World of Warcraft. Vista still manages to crash, have massive lag spikes, want to do forced reboots, repeated BSODs claiming that it "timed out waiting for a response" from a video driver, which has been updated repeatedly and even removed and a different video card used. Vista is total shit. Do not use it.
Uh, surely if you were a software engineer, then you would know that your issue is with your video drivers. Certainly, Ive found vista far more stable than XP, and i'm only using a old shitty laptop with intel graphics.
One of the things that interested me about 'the mojave' experiment was that the demonstration they gave these people was of windows media centre - Which has hardly changed at all in vista since XP media centre edition !!
All of the incompatibilities griped about never have reared their head to me, & I run a plethora of programs, & games. Many of them older versions & games. Still no probs.
Just right click the programs, click properties, & choose run in XP mode.
If you have a good video card, upgrade your drivers.
You must have at least 2gb of ram, I have 4 & am able to enjoy all of the benefits.
Vista claims it is the "holy grail" of OS, and it is most definitely not!
Floating point intensive calculations have always been performed better on PCs. Macs have managed memory better. Period. This has been known in the printing and 3D rendering communities for over an eon.
After being a computer specialist for many years, both Mac and PCs, and almost 30 years in the printing industry. PCs were almost always the RIPing station, Macs would crash or be too slow to compete.
First, each and every program written for both PC and Mac, the PC version is more robust, fully featured, and cheaper. Macs manage memory better. They always have.
Vista has so many memory problems, Win 3.1 is better and more stable than Vista. Giglyboyo claims this was a "scienticly" based test. This was nothing of the sort, just a very poor marketing ploy that will backfire on Microsoft. After working on dozens of Apple systems since 1978, I know what I'm talking about. PCs are better.
i personally was really suprized at how much people try to make vista an evil thing, i mean, if i was going to get a new computer, it would probably vista with x64 driver. mac is nice and all, but i would not be able to play that much computer games. lets face it, mc has nearly no games, not including Spore, but that is a different topic all-together.
i use apple programs and some are better then windows, and vice versa. i love photoshop, safari and quicktime, to name a few
A computer program is a sequence of instructions. An operating system executes functions between the hardware and the respective application, so it is a programmed set of instructions, making it a... "program." Oh yeah, she's the "n00b" here...
In 30 years of computing, this is the worst debacle ever. Microsoft needs to dump Vista quicker than Windows ME. Such a terrible unscientific "test."
I guarantee that any XP machine will perform better with 2Gb of RAM than any amount of excess RAM in a Vista machine (that it still wont recognize and fully utilize). Congratulations Microsoft, your Vista OS has turned more people to Apple than anything youve ever released.
Yeah, it is retarded how many people hate Vista and have never used it. And is anyone besides me starting to get really sick of the mac commercials... (have OSX PC and iPod Touch, I don't hate apple). My main PC is Vista Ultimate x64 and it runs perfect. I think it has crashed one time in almost a year. I have just as many problems on my Macs...
Vista is a great OS. The only real problem atm is that you should get x64... but some developers are LAZY and won't get with the times on x64 drivers.
Just goes to show that retards go around and believe other retards who knows a guy who knew a guy that knew another guys sister that had Vista and complained about how "bad" it is. I can guarantee you that 70% to 90% of the people who says vista sucks have never seen nor tried it. I've been using macs and windows throughout my entire life. Hell i still have the "macintosh Classic", in my garage. But anyways Vista isn't bad for someone who uses it casually like; email, school, (CONTINUE)
and small stuff like that. But i have to admit it has some MAJOR flaws, just like EVERY other OS. I would recommend vista if your just getting into the whole computer thing, but a mac if your running a personal buissness or a job that has you traveling a lot. So can we all agree that windows and macs have both advantages and disadvantages instead of having orgasm and ejaculating everytime when some mac fanboy says windows suck or when a microsoft fanboy says macs suck? XP discontinues in 09
I am someone who uses every aspect of my OS. From programming to games to creating powerpoint presentations....etc..... Vista works fine for all of these. As for not being able to run all programs, ALL operating systems have that problem at first, but there is always a way around it. Vista has problems, but so did XP when it came out. Service pack 2 will take care of it all. And to everybody clinging to their XP screaming "Screw Vista", remember, Microsoft will stop supporting XP in early 2009.
I am a "Techy", have been in this industry since 88 and hold many certifications (including many high ones from Microsoft) and this is my spin on Vista. For a normal user who knows nothing about OS's, this is a OK system. Vista in a memory whore, loads of security holes, slower than XP Pro, and loads of hardware and software does not work with it. If this is your first PC, rock and roll. If you have a biz and have many units. Stay XP Pro, all my clients to include huge biz r doing the same
I have never had a problem with vista, maybe you ppl dont know how to properly configure a computer and install virus and spyware protection such as Verizon Internet Security. Btw apple is for stupid ppl. if they like the easy way out of things, its like childproof or something so you idiots dont break it. But anyway Vista rules :]
They probably only sat down with a messed about with some of vistas most basic features (which DO work better). But i bet they didnt try installing their favourite games or editing files in the program files folder.
OMG vista SUCKS ass i run computer support office and on site stuff.. whoever thinks vista is good is either a big nooob or a Microsoft employee... xp was good for me but now MAC rules all ... peace.. :)
for all you retarded people that have vista and say it sucks, first try intalling the service pack 1...doofuses! I agree with wolfmotha77. I love vista now more then xp!
I meant crysis, lol. And btw, i don't run them both at the same time, i run them one at a time. It's just the same as having one operating system just that you chose which one to use when you start your pc, and yes... Pcs are actually designed to have two OS's on them, thats why you can do it with out ANY modifications....
Vista is the first system that "scales" to the system. What that means is that the more resource you give it, the more it will eat. They found a way to make you buy a new computer that you don't need every 2 years. Plus, they ripped off Apple's interface again. So much for being 'innovative' Microsoft...
I had a negative initial Vista impression, too. And then I actually started using it on a daily basis. Now I avoid using my XP machine whenever possible.
How sad, you can't even load the web page. Maybe so many people trying but what a way to prove that vista does not suck but by having a web site that does not load. SAD.
It is not faster then xp, i have XP and Vista installed on my pc and it is NOT faster. You cannot say that a bigger operating system which requires more Ram and CPU power works faster, thats the same as saying It's easier to run FarCry then Crysis on my pc.
ya'know i love the vista visuals and thats it, i dont like anything else about vista, my friend has it, he cant install any of his games on it, and also i hate microsoft for making halo 3 only vista compatable and halo 2, kinda retarded, but at least i got a 360 or i would be totally pissed off
xtreem0 , vista was so bed the i 1) swiched to mac 2)swore to never use a pc unless i have to and if their was no other option . but vista better then osx i dont think so a mac is worth every penny.
I have no problem with vista, I like it better than xp. It's just I like Ubuntu better than both. It wasn't even a decision, just a tendency to prefer to boot up the linux partition than the vista one. It's not important either way, I just like being able to have total flexibility with an os and mess with it. That's not for everyone and vista is a slick product. I don't miss all the protection you have to get going in windows though. Die symantec, die.
forget about windows! vista or xp... try ubuntu or some other linux distro and i'm sure the only thing you're going to miss are the windows games. and while microsoft monopolizes the os industry, these games will not be made more readily available to non-windows users.
i did try ubuntu. but i did not like it. it was a pain to install anything. always had to go into terminal for everything. i dont know how to use it. every time i fix somthing i run into another problem. this is 2008 everything should work just be installing it like on windows.
I've used Windows Vista and Windows 7 and I can tell you that Vista seems much more prone to problems and feels so much slower. I've upgraded people's computers to Windows 7 and they've never came back to me wanting me to fix it again. It's much better.

Just re-did a friend's newbie sister last night on an e-machines ET 1300 series desktop last night. Too many "free downloads" gave her a ransom ware that didn't let me use emachines own restore program. She is now Linux, enjoying a "faster computer" as part of the bargain. It was good enough. People who were ripping it didn't really know what the hell they were talking about. However Windows 7 is the perfection of Vista. There's really no point of staying with XP anymore. With no support for DX 11 Windows XP is worthless.
Roflcopter4b 1 year ago

I'll bet these commercials are made using Macs. It doesn't take a genius to operate through Vista but I don't miss Vista one bit since I got a Mac.
culoslap 3 years ago
You are wrong in so many ways and you don't even know that. I guess ignorance is your thing? I mean you listened to the Mac ads, "Hello I am Vista, accept/deny" crap right? I mean most that said they just recently transitioned have (ones who are fairly computer illiterate). ATM I'm enjoying my OS(Vista Ultimate X64), offers me tons more than your 8 year old OS (oh and I have a dock too). At least I know there are still people willing to pay for updates...
RipperLord 3 years ago
I think the best part to Vista is that it plain sucks. You can only use it if you're a narb and don't do anything but facebook...
I hate to be leaning towards one side, but after literally using 23 different Vista computers that /failed i've given up. Windows is dumb and they simply copied the dock from Mac, so pathetic... Microsoft better make up for it next time around or they are though.
DarthVayas 2 years ago

Vista is very hard on your computer and It's just all around not good.
mrasrrcom111 3 years ago
You obviously aren't one of those who know computers or OS's. Win Vista is new, of course it is going to require a greater system specs and yes its a great OS. You wouldn't run Crysis on a single GPU, poor amount of RAM and an outdated video card.
So why are OS's an exception to that?! Vista offers DX10 (soon to be also DX11), better dual core support, much more stable x64 OS than the XP 64bit bastard child, nice new UI look, superfetch, readyboost etc. Ahhh you keep your XP...

And.. CUE THE MAC FANBOYS!
Not to meantion Vista is better for games.
allstarbdt7 3 years ago
I hate these commercials...Vista when it came out sucked and is still flawed (and, yes I tried it out and hate it). I'm sure the next version of Windows will be fine. Remember when windows millennium came out what a hunk of crap that was? Then XP came out and it was a good solid operating system (well, after service pack 2 lol). I'm sure Windowz 7 Service Pack 2 will be a great OS. I'm saving my money for it ;-)
jonathonwallen 3 years ago
What was technically wrong with XP before SP2? You just have heard that SP2 was GREATLULZ! You're an idiot. Apart from security fixes, the lead kernel build is nearly identical. And don't get me started on your ignorance of Vista. Switch to Mac like all of the other people who suck at computers.
allstarbdt7 3 years ago 2
You sound like you took that personally lol. I'm a computer programmer, you have no right calling anyone an idiot if you don't know what was in SP2. So what if the kernal wasn't changed! Works fine on my computer and I can work WITHOUT upgrading to VISTA. What are you, some kind of Microsoft whore that likes everything they put out no matter how much it hurts when they shove it up your ass? :-) You are probably one of the morons in the commercial. Now go jerk off to VISTA loser ;-)

Vista is fine if you customize things, play with compat mode, disable uac. Vista-64 has far more driver support than XP-64. Vista 64 is best if you want to run <4gb of ram.
I don't like how much Vistas over head has but if you have a good machine it's fine.
I personally tripple boot my main machine with Vista-64,XP-32,Kubuntu-32(compiz fusion DM) and I pick different ones for different reasons that are obvious, XP for less overhead, Vista for fancy features and DX 10, linux for it's speed.
utufreak 3 years ago
Why pay for a GUI on top a bug infested system? If you want the cutting edge in aesthetics on top a stable system... If you're tired of paying for software that you'll never truly own... If you live by the philosophy that software is only as good as the community which creates it and perfects it, then why not free yourself from M$ oppression? Linux is knocking at your door.

i got to admit, i like some of the multimedia stuff of mac, and they come free with it, unless they are thrown into the price making it more.
but i can still buy hi end software programs, to edit movies, and pictures.
i do lots of animation and i can buy programs that run flawlessly on pcs that cartoon producers use, software that isnt availabe on macs. mac is to interested in looks then power. it also looks kinda babyish

my computer has always run fast, can do lots on it.
mac goes on about imovie and that shit. pc has windows movie maker, cnet, and other critics like movie maker more.
we play music, pcs have tons of video and audio editing programs, more then mac.
what does mac have imovie.
hollywood uses pcs for editing, all tv shows probably use it.
also in a pc you get alot more for alot cheaper, i can upgrade get a super fast system. to bad macs cant have 8 processors.
b4igetu 3 years ago
Your fucking stupid dude. Mac is the industry standard for television and film. Trust me, I know. You obviously dont know about anything that your talking about. Macs have more than iMovie. They have Final Cut Studio and other award winning programs. And BTW... The Mac Pro's have 8 cores. So go fuck yourself.
AvantgardeFilm 3 years ago
yeah the macs have 8 processors for $3000 fucking dollars, the cheapest pc i could have bought with 8 processors was $629, and it came with a 20" lcd display, 500 gb harddrive and 4 gb of memory, and the processor speed was 2.5 while the mac was 2.8.
of coarse i opted for the $1800 one with a tetrabite harddrive (1000gb) not even sure if mac goes that big. 6gb of memory NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT graphics card.
mine kicks the top end macs ass, and mine isnt top end pc. i got the better buy cheaper
b4igetu 3 years ago
Buy a copy and Final Cut PRO and run them on Both and tell me what you think. The right combo of hardware and software makes the computer valuable to me.

XiKeiyaZI 3 years ago
most people are stuck with ddr1? in that case most people are poor tramps...ddr1 is cereal box prize cheap, i dont believe anyone has ddr1 anymore. a gb of ddr2 is like £10...whoever has ddr1 must have bought thier computer pre-21st century.
B4Shock 3 years ago

I'm certain all the machines they're showing people here are memory & video card intensive.
My only gripe would be that I don't like all the versions. It's a stupid marketing ploy.
They needed to have the base begin with home Premium, & then advertise that it will not work well with cheaper machines w/ less memory.
They needed to keep XP alive for those on a budget, instead of forcing the switch.
That was shady.

Vista still manages to crash, have massive lag spikes, want to do forced reboots, repeated BSODs claiming that it "timed out waiting for a response" from a video driver, which has been updated repeatedly and even removed and a different video card used. Vista is total shit. Do not use it.
akede2001 3 years ago
Uh, surely if you were a software engineer, then you would know that your issue is with your video drivers. Certainly, Ive found vista far more stable than XP, and i'm only using a old shitty laptop with intel graphics.
One of the things that interested me about 'the mojave' experiment was that the demonstration they gave these people was of windows media centre - Which has hardly changed at all in vista since XP media centre edition !!

I have been using it for over a year & i love it.

Don't use Vista...
Winblad 3 years ago
First, each and every program written for both PC and Mac, the PC version is more robust, fully featured, and cheaper. Macs manage memory better. They always have.
Vista has so many memory problems, Win 3.1 is better and more stable than Vista. Giglyboyo claims this was a "scienticly" based test. This was nothing of the sort, just a very poor marketing ploy that will backfire on Microsoft. After working on dozens of Apple systems since 1978, I know what I'm talking about. PCs are better.
Winblad 3 years ago
i personally was really suprized at how much people try to make vista an evil thing, i mean, if i was going to get a new computer, it would probably vista with x64 driver. mac is nice and all, but i would not be able to play that much computer games. lets face it, mc has nearly no games, not including Spore, but that is a different topic all-together.
i use apple programs and some are better then windows, and vice versa. i love photoshop, safari and quicktime, to name a few
giglyboyo 3 years ago
LOL she said it was a awesome program, that you have to see for yourself ( black bitch at the end of the video ) n00bz0rs!

I suppose its a good thing MS invested in Apple!

this test is probably most scienticly based ever.
unbiased in every way.

But anyways Vista isn't bad for someone who uses it casually like; email, school, (CONTINUE)
bacon4pop 3 years ago
and small stuff like that. XP discontinues in 09

for those xp lovers out there.

I agree Vista sucks really badly

I am someone who uses every aspect of my OS. From programming to games to creating powerpoint presentations....etc..... Vista works fine for all of these. As for not being able to run all programs, ALL operating systems have that problem at first, but there is always a way around it. Vista has problems, but so did XP when it came out. Service pack 2 will take care of it all. And to everybody clinging to their XP screaming "Screw Vista", remember, Microsoft will stop supporting XP in early 2009.
howmuchforthape 3 years ago

XGotLlamayoX 3 years ago
They probably only sat down with a messed about with some of vistas most basic features (which DO work better). But i bet they didnt try installing their favourite games or editing files in the program files folder.

I meant crysis, lol. And btw, i don't run them both at the same time, i run them one at a time. It's just the same as having one operating system just that you chose which one to use when you start your pc, and yes... Pcs are actually designed to have two OS's on them, thats why you can do it with out ANY modifications....

What do you do with your computer? Browse and check email?
It's "way fucking faster" if you do nothing with it.
flip3d 3 years ago
Wops, i meant to say crysis instead of Farcry, but what ever. :P
FunnyMcBunny 3 years ago
Those people are stupid. Microsoft wouldnt release a NEW OS so soon.
flip3d 3 years ago
Vista is the first system that "scales" to the system. What that means is that the more resource you give it, the more it will eat. They found a way to make you buy a new computer that you don't need every 2 years. Plus, they ripped off Apple's interface again. So much for being 'innovative' Microsoft...

I had a negative initial Vista impression, too. And then I actually started using it on a daily basis. Now I avoid using my XP machine whenever possible.

Good marketing for a bad product :)
Vista is garbage.
statusphere 3 years ago
How sad, you can't even load the web page. Maybe so many people trying but what a way to prove that vista does not suck but by having a web site that does not load. SAD.
firematt911 3 years ago
It is not faster then xp, i have XP and Vista installed on my pc and it is NOT faster. You cannot say that a bigger operating system which requires more Ram and CPU power works faster, thats the same as saying It's easier to run FarCry then Crysis on my pc.
FunnyMcBunny 3 years ago
ya'know i love the vista visuals and thats it, i dont like anything else about vista, my friend has it, he cant install any of his games on it, and also i hate microsoft for making halo 3 only vista compatable and halo 2, kinda retarded, but at least i got a 360 or i would be totally pissed off

Vista is great if you have SP1 and turned of UAC, otherwise it is worse than everything out there.

xtreem0 , vista was so bed the i 1) swiched to mac 2)swore to never use a pc unless i have to and if their was no other option . but vista better then osx i dont think so a mac is worth every penny.
mrcarterxxl 3 years ago
I have no problem with vista, I like it better than xp. It's just I like Ubuntu better than both. It wasn't even a decision, just a tendency to prefer to boot up the linux partition than the vista one. It's not important either way, I just like being able to have total flexibility with an os and mess with it. That's not for everyone and vista is a slick product. I don't miss all the protection you have to get going in windows though. Die symantec, die.
Anax100 3 years ago
forget about windows! vista or xp... try ubuntu or some other linux distro and i'm sure the only thing you're going to miss are the windows games. and while microsoft monopolizes the os industry, these games will not be made more readily available to non-windows users.
robertopinedajr 3 years ago 2
i did try ubuntu. but i did not like it. it was a pain to install anything. always had to go into terminal for everything. i dont know how to use it. every time i fix somthing i run into another problem. this is 2008 everything should work just be installing it like on windows.
