  • IGOR!!!!

  • Hey Sam, just wondering how long it takes a bulging disc to heal...its posterior lateral, compressing nerves...and causing me a lot of discomfort. I am using Mackensie's Method, sleeping with lumbar support, trying to do low impact activities, and in a sense doing everything I can. It has been almost 4 months and seen only smaallll amounts of improvement...do i need an ESI to help things along? Im tired of taking pain meds...! What do you think?

  • I do have pain in both legs from Bulge Disc and here in UK no one give a fuck about it in hospital :)

  • @shadyari1111

what does your Lumbar MRI say ?

  • @AnatomicalALIGNMENT My MRI say's: as previously described, there is a broad-based disc bulge at the L5-S1 level with protruding disc just abutting the exiting right S1 root. Moderate right foramina narrowing at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels noted. Thank you

  • @shadyari1111

i also have pain in both Legs since 1996 ! Very Interesting , Lets compare and find out how similar our situations are, as ive never found anyone with Pain like Mine, 1st here is my MRI

" Straightening of the Lumbar Lordosis , shallow disc bulge at L4 L5, Loss of water content of L5 S1 disc, which also shows a BROAD based bilateral protrusion in contact with the dural sac , and hitting foramina

  • @shadyari1111

Im gonna describe My pain in more detail, tell me where yours is similar and where its different from mine.

My Pain is evenly distributed in Both Legs , the ENTIRE leg hurts front to back, top to bottom, side to side . Starts right below each Hip and end right above my ankles, i have no Pain or abnormal sensations in my back or feet, its ONLY in my Legs.

  • @shadyari1111

for Me, the pain is right down to the Leg Bones, EVERYTHING in my legs hurt . Also the Pain is Never sharp or biting. It doesnt radiate or travel anywhere at anytime . its a very Dull heavy soreness felling in my legs that Never changes at anytime . The Only thing that changes my Pain is weight bearing Activity , that makes my legs fatigue very fast and alot more sore

  • @AnatomicalALIGNMENT I feel sorry for you mate and I have same pain as you now you said its from 1996 so it look like we I have nothing to hope for better days :( I just have another MRI scan today here in London Royal Free Hospital, on the neck because I have the pain in my hands to and this is all to do with an car accident I had on early january 2011

  • @shadyari1111

ive been learning quite alot lately, and what im learning is you have to get your body into its proper biological alignment . Once you do that its alot easier to make the pain go away because everything inside the body anatomically is free and clear and where its supposed to be.

One of the main reasons we both are in pain is our bodies are totally out of Alignment.

  • @shadyari1111

watch vids with KATHLEEN PORTER, and also check out a device on here called the NUBAX and Inversion Therapy.

also research a Decompression home product called BODY BRIDGE and a body therapy named ROLFING .

  • @AnatomicalALIGNMENT Thank You

  • @shadyari1111

Also id like to visit a classic trained OSTEOPATH, who doesnt use Drugs or Surgery , they deal with Anatomical science , structure and Alignment . Drugs and Surgery are not the answer , except in very severe cases where Everything else is tried 1st

    Find one in the UK

  • @shadyari1111

here is another home unit to check out, SPINE WORX

  • @shadyari1111

It feels like my Legs weigh 1,000 pounds each, super heavy sore feeling .

  • @shadyari1111

id also like to visit with the Dr. making this video as he sounds very experienced and is quite intelligent and logical, but he is 3,000 miles away from where im at

  • your a God send , I wish you were here in Bluffton sc

  • @HolisticSam I have a grade 1 spondylolisthesis at my L5. Will traction and lying flat on my bed with my thighs slightly elevated when I sleep help? Because I know a person who had a grade 3 spondy for over 40 years and he treated it just by traction (with improvised weights approx. 5ks) while lying in bed or standing against a wall flat. I swear to God, he's vertebra got back in place.

  • @Burnswak,

It may, but it depends on the situation. A grade 1 isn't that uncommon, but the most important things to do involves keeping your psoas and rectus femoris at normal length, and building a LOT of strength in your glutes, external/internal obliques, and hamstrings to counter the extension at that vertebral level.

  • @HolisticSam

whats your opinion on the following for treating Structural injuries and anatomical abnormalities causing Pain ,

the ' Body bridge ' Decompression home unit , Nubax , Inversion table therapy, Rolfing, Somatics, and the work of KATHLEEN PORTER which involves Aligning the bones in their natural Anatomical alignment

  • @HolisticSam

also in your Opinion how important are the following to getting rid of Pain due to disc bulges

sleeping on the Proper mattress, correct Pillow, Shoes, Orthotics , car seat, chairs at work and home etc. ?

ive heard a saying that went like this " if you dont form your Physical enviorment, than your enviorment will surely form you ! '

  • I have a herniated disc in my lower back and I find it extremely painful to drive or even ride in a car. Do you have any suggestions on how to relieve the pain while I'm in the car?

  • @myersl316,

Be sure to check out a product called a "Mckenzie super roll".

  • @noclassatall,

Lying on stomach is a good test and brings relief for the posterior disc bulge in many cases. However, unless you have a massage table where your head can be straight, this isn't an option for sleeping. Hence, laying on back is the best option for most.

  • This guy is great. I wish more people could explain things as well as this dude. Well done, Sam, and thank you. /// Jeff The Disc Bulger

  • Sam, which position should I sleep if I DON'T know the direction of my disc bulges? I have two cervical (confirmed on an MRI 3 years ago) bulges and suspected bulges in the lumbar region. Is it best just to sleep on my back (with lumbar support) until I get a confirmation on bulge direction? Thanks for the video!

  • Sam, which position should I sleep if I DON'T know the direction of my disc bulges? I have two cervical (confirmed on an MRI 3 years ago) and suspected bugles in the lumbar region. • awesome great video i have 2 herniated disk and am looking forward to take your advise thank you

  • so, can i cycle with a bulging posterior disc?? is it ok or not ?

  • @pumpkinzer0,

Depends on how bad the bulge is, and how often you do the necessary prophylatic movements.

  • You give a lot of sensible advice. Good fro prevention especially. I have just had surgery one month ago and never want to have this Sciatic pain nightmare again.

  • @sallywilton,

    Thanks!

  • @HolisticSam How about when you have a Herniated disc in your neck? What's the best way to sleep and work out with that?

  • @kungfuspic,

There is a lot to this one, since the neck has so much more movement than the lumbar spine. I suggest Mckenzie's book "Fix Your Own Neck".

  • @HolisticSam will the disc bulge be permanently cured ....... bec i am an athlete

  • Hi, Thanks for the info. My question is that, i have a bulge disc IN MY L4 / L5 SPINE and this gives pain to my right lower back, but i dont feel pains in my legs. My question is which position is good to bend towards to for healing of the Disc and to sleep because my pain is at the right lower back. Pls reply, THANKS, Dan , Australia.

  • @dannygee212,

It depends on which way specifically the bulge is going, and where the nerve root is relative to the bulge, but generally, I ask clients to try laying with the disc bulge side UP. However, in some people, it may pinch the bulge. This is actually highly individual to the person.

  • I have C4 and C5 bulg discs... I get headaches, burning feeling in my temples, neck pain, upper back pain....

and this has been going on for like 20 months now

about 2 months ago they took and x ray of my neck and saw the bulging discs

do u have anything for neck bulging dics?

  • @TheYaom,

Robin Mckenzie has a great home care book for necks, be sure to check it out. Also, you may want to find a "Mckenzie-trained physical therapist" in your area.

  • I have L4 L5 herniation on the left side with no Stiatica pain and sleeping on my stomach gives me pain and I cant sleep on my right side at all. I sleep on my back and on my left side. When I have pain, lying on my left side brings me relief.

  • @shopgirl62173,

There are NO absolutes. The disc can bulge on either side of a nerve root, and this can cause differences in relief positions. At the end of the day, you must do what works. This video contains just a loose logical suggestion.

  • nonsence... lol

  • HI Sam. A lot of good information there. Now let's say that if the bulge is anterior would I be correct in thinking that if the bulge is anterior I would want to do the opposite? I would want to flex forward pushing it to the posterior. The side bending would remain the same. Also, would laying on my back with my back flat and my feet pulled up, giving me relief, indicate an anterior bulge?

    Thanks

  • Thank you...Sam...

This is a Great video .

    I went through a Fenestration Microdicectomy surgery . ( L 5 right leg pain)

After the sergury i didnt had any trouble my pain was gone. then I had rest for 2 weeks & then i had a large belt which i use to ware around my back. thing went ok.. then after 2 weeks i got little pinching feeling again on my foot..(like the time before the surgery ) ............ what should i do?

  • @sbtmax2006

Definitely tell your doctor before you do anything.

  • @HolisticSam

Instead of making a video of how to sleep with a disc bulge, why not make one on how to REMEDY and CORRECT a bulge ? Its like saying how to sleep with a sharp knife in your side, well why tolerate such a horrible situation, wouldnt it make more sense doing a video on how to actually remove the Knife instead of tolerating it and sleeping with it for example ?

  • @LegPains,

Because there is no quick fix for a true disc bulge. With the Mckenzie method, it can take weeks, to months in some cases to centralize a badly bulging disc. The pushup movement, along with the lifestyle work, like sleeping on the correct side, ergonomics, etc. "fixes" the disc by removing the source of the stressors.

  • @HolisticSam

Whats your Opinion on the Mega Popular and reported highly successful Disc Decompression Machines for Re positioning Discs to their proper location , DRX 9000 and VAX D ?

  • @HolisticSam

Ive had chronic pain in both my Legs for 12 years , Heres what my Lumbar MRI says

Straightening of the Lumbar Lordosis , Disc Bulge at L4 L5, Loss of water content at L5 S1 which is also in contact with the dural sac and showing a broad based bilateral Protrusion into the Neural Foramina

Can this be corrected without surgery ?

  • Thank you!

  • Great video.

  • Great video,i have a bulging disc and was told to bend forward by a doctor it hurt so much it took my breath away, i think i will send this great and correct vid to my muppet of a doctor!!!!!!!

  • extremely good video. Excellent!! i love it, many people with back pain will surely find this video useful!!
