The first time I heard this song was with my sister, two days ago, on Christmas Eve. We both broke down in tears. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is THE most beautiful song that I have ever heard. EVER.
I am a DCD fan, just never heard this song before, since it hasn't appeared on any of their albums (at least none that I have listened to), and I've never had the opportunity to go to any of their concerts. Ugh, I think I'm going to cry again...
This is so amazing, thank you for shooting this footage and posting it. No one bends a note to the sharp and flat the way she does... it's like watching light rays twist in a prism...
rare experience was to be had in the performance of this song, that one man was so touched that he let the feelings show. Lisa is an icon for the way she performs. No grand accolades of performance ..
Ano but she is like an old tree, enigmatic, entrancing and yet the warmth of her shines through always. I envy those that could for a moment be lifted into another dimension of such beauty. May they always treasure the experience. And for the man who cried you where far more blessed then most ... Blessed Be
I didnt know the cameraman was crying during the taping until the previous entries advised me. now, i share a tear with a stranger due to a song that I am hearing for the first time from a band I love..this is a beautiful moment iam sharing with a stranger..thank you for the detail
I saw DCD twice. Like a religious experience. Lisa reaches right into you and gently pulls out your soul to dangle in the air for a few minutes before delicately putting it back in.
Come on...what's this about??? Can't you just enjoy this beautiful music without passing names and insults.....And if someone is getting emotional because of this wonderfull song...let them be.....if you are disgusted, there is an other entry...played in london...go watch that and leave your overall insults to yourself......
a bit of advice: before you start calling others stupid, it might be a good idea to check your grammar... now go bore someone else with your wanna-be intelectual bullshit.
no respect for who? the cameraman? i have plenty of respect for the band and the performance, however, i have no respect for aging douchbags that like to start comment wars and freeload instead of uploading 5 star content... heres an idea 69 ( LOL ): maybe you should film yourself being a pussy and upload it, at least then you would have some sort of contribution...
its really sad that when you make beautiful music you are instantly dog-piled by legions of people who try to serve themselves and their agendas with your creation... i adore dcd. dont lose who you are by worshiping someone else... dont attatch your own deppresion to a talented persons wonderful creation... OR: do so and forget yourself... live your whole life watching, reacting, cheering, weeping... just stay the fuck out of the way worms.
I've been loving DCD for over 20 years and saw a lot of their performances in Holland....I did not attend this perfomance, but just watching this vid.....It made me cry....Thank you Musicaeternal for posting this....gratefully yours....GYQZ...
I love how she clearly ended the song and states "your wonderful" and everyone reacts very sluggishly. You can tell they were just entranced by her voice!
My attends to you as a mother fears while her children sleep Now look, see how they're dreaming The black reciteries, while the children dream Don't go so deep in slumber Where you'll shy Know you'll wander in sleep Don't you fly too far away Some men die without crying Suffering so long and alone Softly, children, dry your eyes Gently, children, be wise My attends to you as a mother hears all her children's fears So don't cry, all will wash away when we pray Soon
if i am not mistaken, the so called "bonus track" was actually called "entry" though did not purchase that version of the album. and actually have never (unfortunately) heard the song called entry.
anyways.
who knows.
maybe i am wrong.
do you actually have the version of the album literally with this song on it.. that is interesting.. i am jeleous.

It astounds me the things that comes through that woman's sould. I wish I could go to places of the soul that she reaches. And communicate the feelings of beyond that she does. I marvel at her, and bow my head in reverence.
Saw her sing this last DCD American tour, and then on her 2007 solo tour. It is always incredibly moving, melancholy and fabulous. She is an unusual and wonderful artist. See her if she ever comes around.
I've seen her perform this song 3 times. Each performance was slightly different. Sometimes she uses a bluesier voice. Regardless, it's magic to witness and always unforgettable.
All the albums up to and with "Aion" are the best!
Thank you DCD, for giving my youth a special medieval kind of magic.

The title of the song is "Sleep" Extract of the album "Black Opal"
Kr0ckRock 1 year ago
@Kr0ckRock The album version is called "Sleep" but the live 2005 version was called "Hymn for the fallen".
Same thing with "Saffron" that became "Babylon" on brendan Perry Ark's album

It;s not the blubbering of the cameraman that's distracting on this page...
I think it's great that he cries !!
You can only attent to your own emotions and they're nobody else's business, so let the tears run if you feel like it !

So if it's okay, i'll wait with you while the sun began to shine
Oh look, your wings are broken
But never a lie was spoken
The murdered thing is love, you see
Drifting on a lake of memory
Now sleep, close your eyes and have no fear
A wide blue sky is very near
Soon, soon, soon, soon, soon
Now sleep, close your eyes and have no fear
A wide blue sky is very near
