Theres something thats been puzzling me, why hasn't Atomos consumed this world? If its cause of Promathia then wouldn't destroying him end up allowing Atomos to begin his job? After all according to WoTG thats what he does to non-mainstream worlds. Abyssea just confuses me.

According to FINAL FANTASY XI ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK -PLUS-, this song is called "Shinryu". Rather unoriginal, naming a final boss music after the boss, but what can you do? After all, they didn't do it for FFI-FFV, and as a result most of the final boss music there is Final Battle, Last Battle, or some other generic name...

@soulannihilator2 the difference is what areas your allowed to visit in the alternate reality "abyssea" they basicly have various bosses and AF3 gear to unlock which pieces you get like head chest gloves etc depends on the expansion, honestly just buy them all lol

Scars of abyssea continues the story bringing 3 new places to roam around in and introduces the new "AF3" gear pieces that greatly enhance every job. Heroes of Abyssea is the climax of the abyssea saga and allows you to complete the AF3 armor sets and go after this big bad boss called shinryuu. Need all 3 packs to get Twilight gear!!

Spoilers~~~~ In the final cutscenes before this fight, Prishe tells you that Shinryuu is actually Promathia himself! Apparently, in this world, you fail and die to promathia (which is why your other self is never found). Prishe practically leaps into your arms after seeing you (after all, you're DEAD in that world). Promathia absorbed Selh'teus and Phoenix into himself after he won that fight and transformed into Shinryuu. So the final boss of Abyssea is really a superpowered Promathia.

@ryanxx123 You need to beat every zone boss for each Abyssea zone, get a bunch of cutscenes, defeat the 6 Caturae NMs (you can do this before flagging the quest though), pay 10,000 cruor to get the BCNM key item, and then use the Cavernous Maw in Qufim to get to Abyssea - Empyreal Paradox. So yeah, a lot of stuff.

This song is so damn cool. I love the horn that comes in at :57 and then the snares that follow shortly after. Too bad that section of the song isn't longer because it sounds so great! The rest is great too but :50-1:22 is my favorite part. It goes a little soft after that part which I didn't expect but it makes that section that starts at 1:54 sound all that much cooler. Makes it seem like the battle's heating up.
