both Tim&Jeff have same tone which can make ppl tears out...their soul, pain and unhappiness express all in their songs...sounds like no hope, no light and we r lost in somewhere unclear...such a feeling to hear their songs that I ve never felt before! Obsessed...
Father & Son ... Tim & Jeff ... What a Tragic Loss, but their Recodings Hit the Top of the Pops! Timeless, Tim Buckley Was once One of my Heroes in Folk/Rock Music !
I was one of the lucky ones that unknowingly walked into the Troubadour in Los Angeles at the age of 16 and who was on stage but Tim Buckley!
I was instantly mesmerized and returned every day to see him perform.
My school girl crush turned to love when he asked me if I wanted to go to Barney's Beanery for apple pie. He held my hand and whispered in my ear on the way home.
Not only one of the most beautiful and representative of his songs, but a perfect performance. When his voice breaks ever so slightly at the first "m -y love" I always want to play the recording over again. A thousand plays later since I discovered the sumptuous "Goodbye and Hello" in the late seventies. That voice kidnaps your heart.
Tim was super popular with us "hippies" back in the 60s. I played my copy of "Goodbye and Hello" so much I had to buy another copy -- I literally wore out the first one! I rarely went more than two days or so without playing the whole album. That and Surrealistic Pillow by the Airplane are two of the greatest albums of my youth. Hell, they're two of the greatest albums of all time for that matter!
One of the important albums of the late sixties. It hasn't lost anything in all the years since. Music and poetry spun together into such beautiful fabric. For those who think hip hop is poetry, I suggest studying this album.
I saw Tim at the Troubador in Los Angeles & sat right below the stage. I was all but 14 years old. I was in love - he was so talented & wrote beautiful lyrics. I loved poetry & words with strong images - even then as a young girl. This song was immensely incredible. Back in those days there was no security at clubs & my friend & I walked up to the dressing room after the show but chickened out to knock at the door & we just left. I did get his guitar pick that he dropped & still have it!
Yes, it was quite incredible!. However, I have never heard that this particular concert was ever released on any format. I don't remember any cameras (this was many years before video cameras) & have never seen any footage of that night. Not long after that concert, I somehow found his address in Venice, California. I took about 4 or 5 buses to get there & found his place. I walked up the flight of steps at this very old apt.bldg.
To continue. As I walked up the steps to Tim Buckley's door, my knees were shaking & I was really nervous.
Of course, I didn't know for sure that it was his place. I knocked several times but no one answered the door. A few minutes later an older woman at another door, opened the door & said that Tim wasn't home. I don't know who she was. I think there was only a few apts there, it was a very old bldg.. So.....I left & never did meet Tim and did not go back there again.

This is one of the most beautiful songs and voices I have ever heard.
Been my favorite since Goodbye and Hello came into my hands in 1967.
Tim was a great lose to me.
But I still have his beautiful voice to always keep me with him.
Wish I could have seen him in person.
Miss you TLB.
