I've participated in some classic shidokan tourneys myself and always get called for throwing sukis, even though I throw them downwards and to the chest refs tend to react to them as if I threw them to the face (big no-no in these types of rules). Very frustrating. Maybe that's why many fighters in Shidokan don't throw those types of blows.
