Must've been '71 or '72 I'd go to the Limelight in lower Manhattan and listen to "Love Train," "Got To Use My Imagination," ...remember Gloria Gaynor's "Honey Bee?" And of course the great "Love Epidemic." Oh God, the memories! I've got "Love Epidemic" on the iPod now, and it still sounds as good as 40 years ago. Thanks iGuy!

oh wow... i am so glad to have grown up around this music.... the lead singers voice always sent chills throughout my whole body.... and dancing to this music... pure heaven !!!!!! No mater what anyone says.... this was the best era of music no doubts...no arguements......
Considered the ultimate disco group universally, The Trammps propelled Disco music to new heights. I loved all of their music, went to the disco clubs, etc. when I was a young teenager - music was powerful and original - you were hypnotized by the sheer greatness and just had to dance all nite! I miss those days! The music today sucks!
Love Epidemic for The Trammps "Music is food for the soulI, still really like the feel of the vinyl record in your hand and all that goes into playing them, for me you will never beat vinyl when it comes to bringing music to life"...spread dis Love Epidemic by The Trammps
What actually is usually "recognized as kicking off the Disco era" is in fact a Television music show, which myself I discovered in 1971, called Soul Train. Back in those days it was giving live exposure to mainly the Stax and Atlantic record label artists. Then, obviously under pressure, in late 1972 early 1973 they relented to this new big 'Philli' - Scene' sound. And it immediately took off!
Actually no it wasn't the Trammps who initiated the sound. It was the O'Jays, who were on CBS at the time (1971/1972?) and had a massive hit with Love Train.
Motown was collapsing, and this new sound of theirs was seen to be the future. Fortunately for us at that time many soul artists were not only splitting from their old groups but also from their record companys and most joined CBS, who then sublabled them to the Philadelphia International record label.
re: the Trammps and the early days, "Zing" was the tune that is recognized as kicking off the Disco era back in 1972. It exploded in the "alternative" (homosexual) clubs and it took off from there. Interesting to note that "Zing" came from the Coasters classic in the 50's. Doo-Wop was a big influencer in disco with the Blue Notes, O'Jays, Barry White, Sly Stone and many others having made the transition to this sound.
Probably my absolutely favorite disco song! The 2nd half starting with the break is freaking the best. Its like a cartoon (in fact its close to the Old Road Runner / Coyote opening) and then going into a breakdown. The 2nd half strings power evoke strong personal emotions and dare I say, a desire to Change the World from what it is.
great song.love it but a bit out dated in time of aids, spread the love epidemic, there will be no be dicease no need for medication. outch. Aneway still love it butt alwyas when I hear it think oke just spiritual as meant.
This song along with "Date With The Rain" by Eddie Kendricks and "Soul Makossa" by Manu Dibango are among the earliest recognizable disco records. Thanks for posting.
This is I think one of the trammps most under played tracks every body knows "Zing" and "Disco inferno" but this I feel never got the recognition it deserved. I always played this in my D.J years, thanks for the comments I will check out the other two tracks you have mentioned.
Favorite song, favorite group from back in the days of "disco" Love The Trammps! BraVO on NYC radio and in clubs! "92KTU" LOL
