Um i have sims 3 i have never played sims 2 but i will when it comes in the mail i am so excited because i see the videos of sims 2 and it looks alot better than sims 3 so i am going to try it out soon.
Sims 3 will always be my favorite game I think. I too play it for some time and then play something else, until I feel like playing TS3 again, which pretty much will always happen sooner or later. The only thing I dont agree with EA on are the expansion packs. Of course some of them are great, but I still think we are missing more important stuff like real apartments and weather.

Originally, I was going to get the Sims 2 Double Deluxe because I have Sims 3 on my iPhone and it's not too great- but the computer version is a thousand times better! Also, I think the picture and oppurtunities are better than Sims 2. Can't wait for my copy of Sims 3 to arrive!
I found The Sims 3 on PC at a local Cash Converters (Kinda like a british Goodwill store) for only £1.99 (Around $3)
I thought it would have something wrong with it because of the low price, but its a really good condition copy with the activation code and everything.

@oyeparcero it isnt less realistic. i used to hate sims 3 and then i got used to it and messed around with it , and love it.
Exchange has stuff made by other ppl. which i think is crappy stuff just edits of stuff already on the game like recolored. u can download cc for sims 3 just like u did for sims 2, like off Modthesims, TSR, etc.. you can get skin downloads off xmsims. com

@SuperCyberTv Yes, the Sims 2 was VERY graphics oriented. Now, the Sims 3 runs on a variety of different computers, laptops, and Macs. More then likely, if you could run Sims 2, you'll run Sims 3 fine~

Ah i can remember i qued at 6 in the morning in front of GameStation to get this, their was only me so i was disappointed that i wasted 2 hours of my life outside a games shop but anyway, I made him green and an evil genius, he wants to become the emperor of evil, that's why I LOVE the sims it's so much fun and unrealistic! i totally agree with everything you say about playing the sims and realising how stupid certain things are in life. also how you can go off for playing the sims for months at a time and then one day just feel like creating a new family and playing for hours on end. it's probably the most addictive game out there- and why wouldn't it be? playing god is fun ^_^
Another RPG element in it, is life time rewards, which are like perks. Like "steel bladder" where your Sim never has to use the bathroom again... my sister doesn't like the ones that take away the needs, but they are there if you want them.
You get attached to them too. I had a son and he drowned then his parents got depressed and I had to delete the save cos I felt bad lol. The new family is doing well though ;)
@DiamondTeardrop6 I should but you might expierience some lagging. I think it's ok since your computer meets the minimum requirements. I was missing something in my game and I was just faced with a bit of lag and slow loading screens but besides that it was great
I am assuming you are no computer expert, but what do I really know. But anyway I was wondering if when you first installed your sims3 game if every once and a while the screen would turn black and just not work?
I don't know if it is just mine, but I don't know what's wrong with it and I can't really enjoy the game for longer than 15 minutes usually. :\
@inu19 have you tried turning the games graphics settings lower? that used to happen to me with the sims 2 and my old computer, and turning the games graphics settings to low fixed it for me.

@Random7Guy It may run on the lowest settings, but I don't know if I'd say "well". Intel graphics and TS3 don't exactly play along too well, at least with the chipsets I've used.
@bigbroeye Yeah, that's a big part of it. Along with the CPU, RAM, hard disk speed, operating system... it depends on what you're talking about in saying "how the game is played".

As for the topiary bushes, I think they're in the "Build" mode, where you place fences and other plants and such.
so you have complete control over the sim life. you can run, visit the girl nextdoor, go to work and ruin the boss his life. place a small table everywhere.
so why should i buy this game? i allready have a real life, updated every day, where i can walk to work, it's free with a big playing area. lot of jobs and places to go........
you could say that the sims 3 for console is the sims 2 for pc with the loading and only aloud to go to the end of the road and stuff but with a few extra tweaks but the sims 3 for console is certainly addicting as i have tried it out myself
and what I HATE is that you can't start with a 'clean' map. Every lot has a building on it. If you want to design more than one house, they're all going to be empty because to build a house you have to move a family into one (obviously) but because you can't have more than one family, it's going to be vacant when you move them out to build somewhere else and the computer generated sims that lived there will be deleted. I was so excited about this game and it was a MASSIVE disappointment
Well you can "Built up" your area if thats one thing your on about. You can edit the town and add in lots of lots and housing. Then you can also move in lots of other households into them, which will all be there when you chose your active household. You can easily move a family out by simply using the computer to another lot, as well as move individuals or a selection of a household out and still leave the others behind and they will live on as normal. The city lives around you.
@kieghacat yes there is a story mode, and yes it is better for a pc. And Everyone should now that because a pc has more memory space for more things to do in game play and less choppyness.
WTH. I've played sims 3 literarly since it came out... (well not all the time) but I've never tryed the freakin ALT key.. :((, well thanks. There is always something you learn from playing the sims 3 :D

Also, you can make sims FATTER. Not just dumpy, with a tiny belly lump, but you can make them Heart attack risk, Diabetes-ridden, Button popping fat.

I have 1 GB ram, Intel graphics card and pretty much infinite hard drive space on my external hard drive, will this run well at lowest settings?

@Random7Guy It may run on the lowest settings, but I don't know if I'd say "well". Intel graphics and TS3 don't exactly play along too well, at least with the chipsets I've used.

@TooSaucyForSpaghetti It should automatically open a programme to install once the game is inserted, then just follow the instructions on the screen.

@bigbroeye Yeah, that's a big part of it. Along with the CPU, RAM, hard disk speed, operating system... it depends on what you're talking about in saying "how the game is played".

@phreakindee my sims have jagged edges and stuff and it looks pretty horrible... it runs relatively smoothly other than the horrible jagged and pointed graphics

i completely agree with reason #6.i usually play it for a few days and then quit the game but a few days later i pick it up again to remeber what it was like and get sucked in immediatly lol.

As for the topiary bushes, I think they're in the "Build" mode, where you place fences and other plants and such.

so you have complete control over the sim life. you can run, visit the girl nextdoor, go to work and ruin the boss his life. place a small table everywhere.
so why should i buy this game? i allready have a real life, updated every day, where i can walk to work, it's free with a big playing area. lot of jobs and places to go........

you could say that the sims 3 for console is the sims 2 for pc with the loading and only aloud to go to the end of the road and stuff but with a few extra tweaks but the sims 3 for console is certainly addicting as i have tried it out myself

Has EPIC 'create a sim' & 'build' modes
BUT
I can list 5 reasons NOT to get the sims 3 (at least for Xbox 360). If I'd known I wouldn't have wasted my money.
U can't have more than 1 family in the same neighborhood
U can't 'edit' your family (eg. add or delete a person)
there are heaps of houses on the map but you can only move ur family into some of them.
You can't make a 'teen' and a 'young adult' siblings
you can't move people out of home without the other sims being deleted.

and what I HATE is that you can't start with a 'clean' map. Every lot has a building on it. If you want to design more than one house, they're all going to be empty because to build a house you have to move a family into one (obviously) but because you can't have more than one family, it's going to be vacant when you move them out to build somewhere else and the computer generated sims that lived there will be deleted. I was so excited about this game and it was a MASSIVE disappointment

Well you can "Built up" your area if thats one thing your on about. You can edit the town and add in lots of lots and housing. Then you can also move in lots of other households into them, which will all be there when you chose your active household. You can easily move a family out by simply using the computer to another lot, as well as move individuals or a selection of a household out and still leave the others behind and they will live on as normal. The city lives around you.

@kieghacat yes there is a story mode, and yes it is better for a pc. And Everyone should now that because a pc has more memory space for more things to do in game play and less choppyness.

@kieghacat thats only in xbox 360 virsons. In pc, yes you can create more family in one neighorhood (but not from scratch, everyone has to be related)
you can delete a person y making them move out
there is more homes to live in (about 1/3)
you can make teens and young adults siblings
you can move people out freely
See? This is why when there is a Pc game, and a console game GET THE PC GAME!
