  • the problem is your gasoline son, you need a higher octane gas, try chevron premium.

  • I have the same engine noise on my 07 Tl Type s with 43 miles on it. The dealer said it's a normal noise for that kind of engine!! I will change the oil for synthetic, hope it will help for that...

check out my video. I am fed up with dealer service dept. lies. Check out the valves yourself, or else hire a tech to come to your car, and tell him you want to watch as he checks the valve lash. I'll bet a dunkin Donuts coffee the lash is not correct. Check out my video and the service manual. The Dealer might like the labor time he can charge, but he may not want to spend the $50 for the 2 valve cover gaskets, and 3 intake manifold gaskets. good luck!

  • EAR RAPE!

  • I had the same problem with my '05. I bitched to the dealer for weeks. I finally traded it back in for an 05 MDX. There was something that came out later about a problem with these engines.

  • are you using the good gas

  • oil problem some x place use 5w 30 insted of 5w 20. todays new car engines are run on 5w 20. do oil flush and replace the oil to full m1 5w 20 and do tell. there 30 70 % fix the nois

  • engine knock at 26000 miles? o.o what kind of oil did you put in it

  • **UPDATE** I took the vehicle to the dealership for service couple days ago, requesting, among other things, a thorough diagnosis to ensure that the valve adjustment is the underlying issue to the engine noise (this costs $254 dollars). They stated they did not hear the noise BEFORE and afterwards. Despite this, they did the valve adjustment, and now the knock is still there. So, now they will actually put my car on the lift and use a stethoscope to listen for the possible cause of the knock.

  • @Gametes1 Ever figure out what it was? Mine is kinda doing this same sound it sounds like.

  • @KiddFly No I have not, and I still have this issue (now at 35k miles) even with full Synthetic Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 M-110 oil filter. I will most likely perform an oil analysis and depending on the outcome, take it to a trusted independent mechanic for further diagnosis.

  • @Gametes1 I see. Tell me....Does it do it in higher gears like 4th or 5th? Is it only when accelerating slowly? Because mine only does it when partial throttle on gears 1-3. If I'm half or full throttle I don't hear it.

  • @Gametes1 Isn't a knock usually from a main bearing? A simple example is my old Skoda 130 which developed a knock after continuous 100 mph speeds. It had only 3 main bearings. The rear bearing was the culprit. This happened 2 X over the ife of the vehicle. Amsoil is designed for 3300 psi. and regular oil has 400 psi limit. Amsoil appears to be the best bet. Have you tried Lucas oil stabilizer ,as well? I've used it for 3 yrs. now with no issues.

  • @Gametes1 ur 1st mistake is bringing it 2 the dealership lool

  • Yea theres a knock in there. Prob connecting rod bearing. It will only get worse as you drive it more and more. I'd take it back to the dealer and make them replace the motor.

  • Did you ever manage to fix the problem?

  • No, not yet. I plan on taking it up to the dealer soon, and get the transmission fluid replaced and have them adjust the valves. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

  • sounds like the lower timing belt sprocket take it to the dealer theres a bulletin on it to replace the t-belt & a updated sprocket

  • 2008 3.8 Hyundai Azera - engine knocking (cold start)

    post this & listen

  • i have same problem

    i have 2008 hyundai Azera 3.8 with 74000

    km(46000 mile)

    it could be oil pump

by the way did you fix it ??

  • Dealer said it sounds like valve chatter coming from the back head toward the cabin. I would have to pay $250 dollars to find out. They told me not to worry about it, however if it gets any louder it is recommended to get it checked again and get the valves adjusted. I will take their word on this, for now.

  • Sounds like valve chatter. Have the valves adjusted first. If that takes care of the noise then problem fixed. But I can hear a knock at some parts if that's the case then you need a new main bearing and the pistons replaced.
