  • I have heard so many renditions of this song and by far The Lettermen ARE the song.

  • @only1boboso amen!!

  • This is going to sound strange, but what the heck. Back in 1987, in the delivery room, the doctors had a cassett player playing oldies! This is one of the songs that was playing. My wife would roll her eyes when I would remind her of it. Maybe not the best place to play the song, but it always has meant alot to me. My little girl has married and moved away to start a family of her own, and my wife has passed away, so the song has more an effect on me than ever!

  • @Dannyrerun I thought you had posted this here before, but I don't see it now, anyway, I'm very glad to have it back...such a neat story (except about your wife, so sorry) Music can have a profound effect on our lives, that's for sure...thank you so much for sharing your story.

  • @ejdav Sorry, I listen to so many old song on youtube, I often forget which ones I have left a comment on.

I have just turned into a sentimental old fool.

  • @Dannyrerun Join the group!!!

  • I found a lettermen cassette amongst my dad's things when I was twelve or thirteen, and fell in love with their music, especially this song. I would dance around the room listening to this, and dreaming about my crush, haha. :-) I'm pretty young, but I love music with good vocals and a great melody, and you don't hear that in popular music as much anymore.

  • @texicanhoosier That's for sure!! I have a fair amount of music here you might like then...please browse this channel.

  • I had a copy of this song on a 45.then the album...I bought the 8 track of their greatest hits and took it with me overseas during viet nam....wore it out...bought the cassette and listened to it all through college when it came out on cd had to have it and its always close at hand....I am sure listening to the Lettermen all these years got me though some tough and troubled times but when I hear the harmonies everything seems right.......thanks for posting...

  • @roanokebarry The "thanks" go to YOU for serving your country!! Thank you!!....We know music can be a powerful thing, and your experience just goes to add to that proof...thank you so much for commenting...please continue to enjoy.

  • Great music by the lettermen, a great group. I believe this was their first big hit and it is still wonderful to listen to today. Great music stands the test of time.

  • @ejdav God Bless you glad for you! Never happen for me but when I listen to this I am driving a 1963 409 chevy on my way to pickup my girl, it is Christmas eve and we are going to Reading Pa to the Embassy theater to watch a James Bond movie - Goldfinger then to midnight mass at her church in Pottstown pa. Good

Memories are the best part of our lives.

  • You may not believe this, but the doctors had this song playing during my daughter's birth. and for that reason, it has a special place in my memory.

  • @Dannyrerun I'm sure "The Way She Looked That Night" was "beautiful"...what a great comment, thank you for sharing.

  • transports us to earlier time and a younger self .but all this has made us what we are today, the good and the bad.

  • @0917gva Once again, THANK YOU...and for your sub.

  • @0917gva You are welcome for the post...but I think your comment gave me goosebumps!!

  • At about 1 minute into the song it sounds as if the record is warped but only for about 2 seconds. It takes nothing away from the song.

  • @fcthompson1 When I get a minute I'll give it a listen (we're putting a new roof on the house)Thank you for letting me know.

  • I heard this song for the first time today. It almost brings a tear to my eye. This. This is real music, not the crap playing in today's generation. It's a shame I was born so late. I would do anything to be a teen during the 50's. For those who have had the opportunity to have experienced this back in the day, you are very fortunate.

Thank you for posting this wonderful song!

  • @Thegirlnextdoor42 I was, and it was a time that was so fantastic I don't have the words to describe it...at least to do it justice. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, for commenting, for the friend invite, and the sub...please enjoy!!

  • @ejdav I fell asleep to this song the other night. I had it on repeat for the longest time!

    Thank you very much!

  • This has been my favorite love song since 1967....it reminds me of Sandy everytime I hear it.....I love the song and I still love Sandy.....

  • @99hanner Those were the days!! How well I remember...thanks for replying.

  • I don't believe that there is another group of men that have ever sounded as good as The Lettermen did!! This recorded proves it!!!

  • @OVtigerstripe They were at the top for several years, and certainly deserved to be there.

  • Here's to you Estelle!!!

  • @OVtigerstripe I'm sure she appreciates the dedication to her.

  • Kinda wish I had grown up in that era during high school years. Splendid tune.

  • @YouMuseMe Believe me!! It was a magical time, wish I could live it all over again...thank you for commenting.

  • Those times were musically magical. I have been happily married for 47 years, but when I hear song like this along with the likes of, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes & My Prayer (Platters) Night, (Jackie Wilson)At Last, (Etta James) Hurt, (Timi Yuro) Since I Don't Have You, (The Skyliners) & so many others from that era I can't help but think of my first love. I think one of the all time great lines in romantic songs was in Jackie Wilsons Alone At Last. I kiss your finger tips, your eyes, your lips.

  • @dbj1941 Yes, You, and I, and thousands of others!! NEVER be another time like it!!

  • @dbj1941 This is a great version. However if you are interested there is a fantastic version here on youtube by Eddie Fisher. Best I've ever heard.

  • for Jill: Fifty years since, but no matter how long it has been, I can still see you in your prom dress and conjure up that old feeling. What a wonderful time to have been involved in your first love.

  • @dbj1941 As I said in an earlier post, love those dedications!! Thank you.

  • This one is for you Linda...............Remember it from all those years ago.

  • @anthonytorelli Ahh...dedications...love them, and thank you for replying.
