She once complained in an interview that her agent and record company producers generally wouldn't let her sing the sort of music she really liked, and so she didn't get the chance to record too many tunes like this one. That sort of music didn't fit the squeaky clean "virgin Doris" all-American girl image they'd created for her, so she got stuck with ballads. Too bad, because she could sing extremely well and would have done a great job singing any one of the standard jazz songs of the time!

mrobertb - but she is a GREAT ballad singer. At one point Marty declared that she would sing no more ballads and tried to move her in a new direction - it didn't quite work.

She has also said that she likes slow songs and they were always trying to up the tempo...but she would prefer the slow tempo.

But hey -- she could do it all - so we just get to sit back and enjoy everything. Glad you enjoyed this great song !!Thanks !
