@ladycharsw 6 seasons plus the skits on The Carol Burnett Show and there was even a TV movie in 1980 that dealt with the death of Mama (of course the series came a few years later and she was still alive).
the dvd's are never quite the same, hunting for the original episodes intros and these old episodes that originally aired have a longer run time than the syndicated version. hit me up if there is anyway i could get a copy of this
Back in the day, you were a loser if you didn't watch this show. Seriously, Mama's family was the show to watch.
I never knew there was another house at the beginning of the show. I was only, like, 1 or 2 years old when the series started & 9 years old when it ended in 1990. THANK THE LORD FOR RERUNS! The neighborhood in this clip looks like one you'd see in Raytown, Missouri for real! Who knows, it might be.
That would be a reference to an episode where Buzz and Sonia host a dance at school. The gym was the USO hall for Raytown and Mama was one of the ladies that danced with the soldiers.
Note that in the original episodes Harvey Korman acted as narrator. You can not find the original episodes anywhere.
WOW!
Thank You very much Turner and Warner Bros. for robbing us of what was seen in the original broadcast!

In the episode where Mama runs for Mayor it's clearly a different house.
