actually if you look into real history, the katsumoto-figure in the movies represents a japanese samurai (different name) that was know as the "last samurai"....so it's not tom cruise who is the last samurai....even in the movie.

a spicy ham i think i can trace my ancestry back to a retainer samurai family called the KAMEI. they werent big but they were most likely the kind that actually did all the dirty work for the higher lords, meaning they were the ones that actually went to battle, while fat slob lords sat back and enjoyed their exploits.
