  • Kerry, what a superb collage! But you cut my favorite Maggie moment. At 2:28, Thomas just said:

Thomas: Your Ladyship, may I have the honour of this dance?

Dowager Countess: Well, yes, as it is a waltz. I'm far too old for that awful foxtrot.

    What follows is screamingly funny:

Thomas: What about the Black Bottom?

Dowager Countess: Just keep me upright and we'll try to avoid it.

She didn't know the Black Bottom was a popular dance! Any chance you could splice in those few extra seconds?

  • @primerib613 I can't make any edits, or I lose the view count. :( Sorry bout that!

  • OMG you left out the absolute best scene of Dame Maggie Smith's... the dining scene where she mentions that Sybil is a woman and therefore has no opinions until she is married and her husband then tells her her opinions. That is the single best Dowager Countess line of the entire two seasons of show. Just perfect! Otherwise, I truly loved this. Great Job!

  • I love your music, Kerry (have all of it that is available on iTunes) and LOVE the Dowager Countess! This is fun, thank you!

  • @margiedeeb Thank you! This Dowager Countess thing blows my mind: a friend said on Facebook, "I wish someone would do a "shit the dowager countess says" video" -- and so I did, but just as a funny inside joke because he's always quoting Maggie Smith. I had no idea - NO IDEA - anyone else would eversee it. So imagine my surprise when I noticed all the websites that had picked it up. Hopefully some of them have dug a little deeper into my other clips and perhaps found some music they liked? :)

  • Brilliant! Many thanks!

  • May we please change the name to "Bon Mots the Dowager Countess Utters?" Really, one must continually be vigilant against vulgarity.

  • "Oh, what on earth's the matter?"

"I'm leaving in the morning, Lady Grantham. I doubt we'll meet again"

    "Do you promise?"

  • The nutcracking remark by Isobel to Violet was absolutely classic. I just howled.

  • "In these moments, one can normally find an Italian who isn't too picky." Bwahahaa...

  • when edith wants to help drive a tractor, i love it when she says

You are not toad of toad hall

  • 0:50-1:08 I LOVE it.

  • Sheer brilliance!

  • My favorite scene that isn't included is when she's talking to the Countess about Mary's deeds with Pamook, and when Cora mentions assassinating the ambassador in a joking manner, the Dowager Countess takes it seriously and you can EXACTLY see the calculating look on her face thinking, "you know it could be possible!"

    Oh maggie smith :)

  • @Crazycatperson66 it's in there! watch it again :)

  • @kerrymuzzey Thanks! just watched it again

  • @Crazycatperson66 like a good box of dark chocolates

  • @kerrymuzzey a dream come true, pure heaven, love her every move

  • MORE!!!!!!

  • OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS!! HAHAHAHA I WAS THINKING OF DOING THE SAME FRACKING THING!!!

  • Wow. This reminds of my 86 year old Aunt. We were always at a loss of words when she spoke.

  • Brilliant! Thank you.

  • I want to be the Dowager Countess when I'm old.

  • @superhoundh could NOT agree more.

  • I love when she gives that flustered face/pose. she looks like a disturbed canary.

  • heehee - thanks for doing this. My favorite line was "I am no Jacobin revolutionary. Nor do I seek to overthrow the civilized world!" to the doctor! Don't worry, she has so many, there will be soon cause to make a Part 2! Thanks for making it & posting. I'll try not to watch it 20 times in a row..

  • What about the swivel chair?! "Why must every day involve a fight with an American?"

  • oh god i love her!!!!! maggie smith is perfect !!!!!

  • I loooove this show so much, I made a t-shirt: "The Wonderful World of Downton." Look it up on redbubble and let me know what you think.

  • Which episode is it for the death stare @0:52 ? And the stuttering @1:03?

  • No one wants to kiss a woman in black! lol

  • Absolutely Brilliant. The Dowager Countess for Prime Minister!! Thank you so much for compiling the brilliance of Dame Maggie Smith giving aristocratic elegance to Julian Fellowes rapier wit.

  • Ok, seriously, this bad ass woman. She went through breast cancer during Harry Potter, KEPT FILMING, and is still working even afterwards. Seriously, I love her so much.

  • Dame Maggie Smith is a national treasure.

  • Great job editing! Precious Maggie moments!

  • Awww, I was disappointed that her "Put that in your pipe and smoke it" line wasn't included.

  • I DIED laughing for that look she pulled at 0:52

  • Nobody delivers a line like Maggie Smith

  • Where's Maggie Smith reacting to the swivel chair?

  • ‎"I'm a woman, Mary... and can be as contrary as I chose." - Hilarious. :p

  • When I grow up, I want to be a Dowager Countess.

  • you missed the swivel chair!!!!! not cool. you also missed "so what?! I have plenty of friends i don't like"

  • Please add the part where she talks about Sir Richard Carlisle "I don't dislike him, I just don't like him!"

  • Is it just me or is Maggie Smith slowly turning into Quentin Crisp?

  • I want someone to recut Lady Violet in a swivel chair to Ron Swanson in a swivel chair.

  • Lol, I love this video! XD Favourite part: "We can't have him assassinated... I suppose..?"

  • LOL.LOL. Great stuff. Not to criticize, but there's another moment in Season 1. Lord Downton the Dowager about the interloper relative who is to inherit their estate and the money:

Lord Downton: But why do you act as if you like him? I know you don't like him.

The Dowager: What difference does that make? I have quite a few friends I don't like either.

  • SPOILER ALERT: did not realize based on entire 2nd series as well. For us Americans who have not seen it all yet, beware!

  • Maggie Smith has been like 75 for the past 102 years. and She's still cool.

  • Thank you SO much for putting this together! Dame Maggie is a scene stealer, and I LOVE her!

  • you've got to add in where she says "Oh thank god! I hate greek drama, where all the action hapens off stage!"

  • OMG this is just classic loved every moment of it so cleverly done certainly made me smile. Maggie Smith is an amazing actress her timing is brilliant. The best of British television - JUST SUPERB!!!!!!!!!! <33

  • She is my favorite, love her!

  • I love when she says, speaking to Mrs. Crawley, "You are quite wonderful the way you see room for improvement whereever you look."

Best laughs I've had in awhile.

  • Nobody want's to kiss a girl in black!!! LOL!!!

  • No Englishman would ever dream of dieing in someone else's house! Rofl!

  • Maggie Smith is genius. Love it.

  • where is stone knights?

  • Ahhh, I can't do a recut. Bummer. If you upload a new version of the video it erases all your page view numbers! I actually did this as a surprise for a friend who was so sick of seeing the "Sh*t ___ Says" videos and he said "I wish someone would do a "Sh*t the Dowager Countess Says." So I did, as a fun surprise - I had no idea anyone else would see it. It originally only had about 20 hits. Anyhow, thanks for sharing it - hope you all got a kick out of it!

  • @kerrymuzzey I can't believe some people actually complained about what you left out. This is a great video. Thank you so much for doing it and sharing it via YT so we can all enjoy these precious Downton moments. And I hope people will remember that, while Dame Maggie Smith delivers these lines with astonishing talent, they were written by Julian Fellowes, who deserves the credit for their wit, vivacity, and how much they add to this great British mini-series.

  • @ETrevar I was kind of surprised at how upset people got that I left out a couple moments! I even got some really nasty hate mail. Isn't that funny? It's just a montage of funny TV clips. Ah well, ya can't please everybody. :)

  • @kerrymuzzey It's pathetic. You did a fantastic job. So, a thousand 'thank-yous' to make up for the haters. :)

  • Love this show.

  • The scene where the tells Cybill that she has no opinions until she marries and her husband will tell her what her opinion is

  • My favorites moments in this are her silent reactions.

  • @mitchellivers i think i could've done an entire 3-minute montage of JUST her facial expressions, without any sound or commentary at all.

  • @mitchellivers Brilliant

  • If ever the 1% needed a "poster mother", she is it.

    "What is a weekend?" Indeed!

  • Fantastic- i just love downton abbey. But Maggie smith really likes the show. I love the scene when she tells matthew 'Mary's in love with you, You were in love with her once before is there no way you can't love her again'

  • Great will look forward to the new recut version. Thanks for posting.

  • "Put that in your pipe and smoke it!"

  • I love her! She's such the proper Bitch!

  • Bless the Dowager Countess! My favorite character!

  • My favorite Dowager line, after it's assured that Matthew and Mary won't be coming home from London on the same train and won't see each other until the concert, is something like, "Oh, good. I do hate greek tragedies....All the action happens off stage."

  • What about the wig-wams?

  • SPOILER ALERT!

  • 'What should we call each other?'

'Well, we could start with "Basic Bitch" and "Boss Bitch." '

  • This is AMAZING. Thanks for sharing!

  • It's missing the "Then I must have said it wrong" quote!

  • I laughed so hard I almost cried XDD Facial expressions - beyond price

  • 1:35 Things I've wanted to say to my Dean (and Rector of my other Sunday gig) many, many, times.

  • Its about time someone did an updated collection! Thank you :-)

  • You're also missing the scene where she's on the swivel chair!

  • I'm so glkad you guys dig it... and based on your comments I just realized that I left out a couple very important scenes! if I get a minute I'll do a recut. :)

  • @kerrymuzzey You should definitely add, "Amputation in the dining room? Resuscitation in the pantry?" LOL!!

  • @kerrymuzzey it was brilliant! LOVED IT

  • ‎"She's had enough banging for one life."

  • Where's the phone scene?? It's the best Dowager Countess scene. :)

  • Excellent!! Thanks for compiling all these video clips of the one and only Dowager / Dame Maggie!

  • I think I can face old age now

  • BRILL-ZI-ANT

  • Fantastic!

  • Priceless!! Julian Fellowes gives the best lines to the Dowager Countess.
